Todd. We have been only running Sportsman. At the last one Randy Baker came up and practiced his Sprinter with us. Now let me tell you that was a true Sprint Car driver putting his head on the chopping block to run on that track with 8 taxi cabs. But if we had a few Sprints we could share the time. Just let me know.

Saturday night was our 2nd Arena Racing Demo. Just some of the highlights. We had 7 cars and 2 marshals. They had around 3,000 fans in the stands. The noise from the fans when we were on the track was deafening. Boy was there rubber on the track. We had to sand the excesstive rubber off after each run. If you had big enough b#### I think that you could run without lifting the throttle. I was running a 15 - 79 and turning 13,200. The biggest highlight was when Doug and Jim took their bodies off and teased the crowd as to who should get these two bodies. It was great. They finally gave them to two young boys. The next Arena Racing demo is Jan. 2, 2010. If you want in you need to get a hold of me. The same thing for questions. Also here is something for you people that have NO FEAR. They also had Garden Tractor Racer's. You have seen them on TV racing on dirt and hay bales. Well you haven't seen anything untill you see them on The Arena Racing Track. Remember that this track is metal, banked, steel guard rails and 16 foot wide. There was a couple of them that were really fast. Think about that and say that you have NO FEAR. We had a great time.

Merry Christmas from snowy West Michigan. Between Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan more than a foot. And they are complaining about 50 degrees in AL.

Jon. That would be great if you would come and marshal. You could just bring your car and race. The track is getting better and better. But that's up to you. You are still needed either way. Thanks. You spell your name, Jon Smith, right? If you are bringing someone with you let know their name so that I can add them to the list to get in. Do you get my E Mails? So just let know.

Here is some of the info about The Arena Racing Demo, Jan.2, 2010. The doors open at noon. You have to enter at the north end of the building into the pits. You will have to sign their waiver just like at a real race track. If your name is on the list you get in for free. Our pit area is normally along the west wall very near the entry door. There is no trailers inside or gas. The gas has to left outside. You take your car out side to fuel it. Our first practice will be about 2:20 for 15 minutes. Their cars practice for 20 mintues and we practice for 15 mintues. We normally get 3 or 4 practices. At 6:00 they have Meet and Greet were all cars and drivers are in the infield and the fans are allowed in the infield. This is where we get to really talk about Quarter Scale Racing to the public. We run our demo at one of the intermissions for about 50 laps. The last time we were there the place was about three quarters full. Over 3,000 very loud race fans. If you have an old beat up body on your car like Doug has had, when he has been done racing they teased the crowd and gave them to kids in the crowd. That really worked well. I don't know if I remembered every thing or not but that is about how things go. If you have any other questions just ask.

is there room to park trailers out side? how any are planning on coming? a few of us are thinking on coming up and bring cars. we, were discussing it tonight. sorry for all the questions

Big O
12-16-2009, 09:21 AM
There is never a problem of asking questions. Yes there is lots of room to park trailers just not very close to the door. You can back up to the door to unload but then you have to move it out into the parking lot. My suggestion is to just bring the bare amount of stuff you might need. You will lucky to go thur 2 tanks of fuel. And this is Michigan. We get lake effect snow here. I live just south of Grand Rapids and I have a foot of snow on the ground. Temps for the next week are highs in the mid 20's and low's in the low teens. I am running a 15 - 79 gear on my cars, with M3 RR or 405 RR with L20's and next to nothing for stagger. I am looking forward to hear back from you. Thanks

Thinking of tring to make it, won't have a car. Can help marshall. Not sure yet. What hotels can you think of in the area?

Big O
12-20-2009, 09:38 AM
There is a hotel at the Ann St. Exit # 88. It is a Radisson Hotel. Not sure how much money. If you tell which way you are going home I could maybe come up with a cheaper one. Grand Rapids is a big city with lots of Hotels. Are you taking US 131 south or I-96 east ? Just remember to let me know if you are coming so I can put you on the list. Thanks

The 3rd Arena Race Demo is the books. We ended up with 5 cars and 4 marshals. We think the problem with traction is too much now. The rubber build up from the track is sticking to the tires and after about 10 laps we are running on the high points of rubber stuck to our tires. It seem as if we can't win. It's either not enough traction or to much. Last night Jim Bell out lasted us agian. He was running good. Doug was 2nd, Orrin was 3rd, and Randy 4th, Scott was 5th. We had some new marshals come up to help out and we needed it. Thanks Jon, Bob, Mike and Maurice. Thanks agian to everyone.

Hey Big O,

I just wanted to thank you for getting me on the list for the Arena show. I had a blast watching you guys get around the track. I hope to have a car ready for next time. That was cool the way the crowd got into the show. It would really be great if we could get more cars to turn out for this event.

I hope to have the photos and videos that I took to Scott on Monday. I'll see if he can get those on a disc and mail one to you and Jim.

Thanks on my end as well Orrin. Had a good time watching you guys get around the track. I think the quarter scales were a bit more entertaining than the arena cars, more action. The crowd definitely got into it. Jim & Doug did a great job getting the crowd pumped up. Have to say it cause it makes me laugh............ Tire Boogers

Did everyone go the QSAC Gallery and look at the pictures that Stivy took? If you didn't you should. They give a pretty good look of what the track looks like and it's size and the crowd. Did anyone notice the QSAC banner at the top of the crowd? It's there. Stivy, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. You did a real good job of it. Thanks

Orrin, Have you been able to get any new racers from these demo races?

Big O
02-03-2010, 01:48 PM
Troy, not so far. But we still have 8 inchs of snow on the ground around here. We do get some very interesting conversations at these demos. We are doing this in front of about 3000 racing fans. I think that it is the ideal crowd to be in front of. And what normally happens is just when don't see any results you get one. Time will tell.
