we voted your number has been changed haft the time you will run 22 . get it 55 upside down along the front stretch.
jbell31 06-14-2007, 06:08 AM Very funny. I'll make that change on the website when my PC is working again. Stupid thing gave me the blue screen of death when I got home yesterday. Guess I'll have to fix that.
IHAUL 06-15-2007, 10:07 PM lansing is racing sunday
hope to see everyone ready to have some fun
Tim Mc 06-15-2007, 10:12 PM Jim,
I noticed you have a Dzus fastner on the rear deck lid. Did you make your own mount? Can you show it in a pic?
Thanks, Tim
jbell31 06-15-2007, 11:48 PM Yep, made it out of (broken) bumper chanel. Just rivited it to the back and used another for the actual mount. Made it so it gives a bit front to back and side to side alittle. I'll put a pic up when I get a chance. I'll be racing alot this month.
Lansing this Sunday, Rockford next Saturday, Lansing again on Sunday, Then to Ingals the following Friday and Saturday (Tri-State Series) the the Following Sunday at Lansing again, and then The following Friday and Saturday at Lansing (2nd race of the Tri-State Series).
Good thing I'm on vacation for three of those weeks. After that it won't be long before the ROGN during the Dream Cruise. That is going to be a great show this year.
Belf28 06-16-2007, 12:13 AM After that it won't be long before the ROGN during the Dream Cruise. That is going to be a great show this year.
i think i saw you guys racing 1/4 scales on the tv show "Car Crazy" when they were at that show
jbell31 06-16-2007, 12:16 AM Oh yea, I GOT MY STUPID COMPUTER FIXED. Came home Thursday, the wife's car battery died. Had to replace that, after working a 10 hour shift and staying late to boot. I get done with that and go to check e-mail, yep BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Had a bunch of work to do on the race car so the puter had to wait.
Friday, Finished up the race car (new uni bell) re-did the shocks, put the lansing setup in it. New tires clean it up. Went in to fix the PC. Did diagnostics, no issues. Still BSOD'ed, did a restore to an earlier date (3 days), still BSOF'ed. Called Dell, went through everything again and took it apart, put it back together, same thing. I figured after an hour on the phone I would just call them back after I do a complete restore from my external bckup drive or reinstall the OS and start over. I hate both things, but...
Before I did that, I tried to go back a bit further and see if that would help. I went back 10 days, same result. I was rebooting just to see what would happen before I do the complete restore, and it works. The stupid thing just started up normal. I log in and And the anti virus software had an error, but I atributed that to the restore point. I went to through the update process and the AV software uninstalled itself right from the site and installed the latest version...
Anyway, to make a long story, epic... I was able to go to Toledo Speedway and watch the IMSA Pro mod sprint cars. What a race!!! Had a sectacular time and got some fun in when things were looking bad. Well time to go to bed. Gota get the trailer, race fuel and do some chores around the house so I can race on Sunday.
Man I tell ya, life sure does get in the way of racing sometimes...lol
jbell31 06-20-2007, 08:04 PM Hello everyone. Here is the form for the ROGN. Please fill it out and return by no later than August 4th. Let me know if you have any questions.
For those of you that have not come to this event before, this is one of the biggest races in the country. It happens and is located in the epicenter of the Woodward Dream Cruise. You should come and watch at least if you can't race. This is a charity event put on by GLQSR and QSAC that raises money for the Give-A-Christmas all year long foundation.
Also you can get this document on the GLQSR site.

jbell31 06-26-2007, 02:57 PM John is ignoring me again! That's OK. I did double duty this weekend. Went to Machesney Park Raceway in Rockford Ill on Friday and Saturday, then back to Lansing for the club race. I had a blast both days. I wish I could say that I didn't break any parts, but I can't. lol. My wife and I are heading down to Indy Thursday to race over the weekend. Going to go camping after that and come back for the 4th. Racing again in Lansing on that Sunday. Gota love being able to do that much racing in a few weeks.

jbell31 08-07-2007, 07:16 AM Mike,
You singled me out at the drivers meeting to complain about something I said here on HT. I have quoted what I said below, but I'd like to respond so there is no confusion:
Your complaint of what I said: "I don't enjoy being the guy who gets laped 10 times in a 150 lap race and I don't think it's much fun for anyone else (including myself) if I were the guy putting 10 laps on the field all the time."
First, I don't race with you unless you run sportsman, which to my knowlege that was once. I wasn't 10 laps down and thought I did pretty well against the field.
Second, I did not say this was happening at our track or anywhere else in the world. I was using an exagerated figure to make a point. I am sorry if you took it the wrong way.
Third, I was expressing something that I believe and the fact that we are all ambasadors of the hobby and should act as such.
Fourth, Please take this as a compliment, I plan on running Grand National at some point (next year I hope) and I would be very happy to be competitive against the top half of the field. If I can run as clean and fast as you guys in the top 5, I would concider that a tremendous thing to do. I have a lot to learn and purchase to get to your level, but trust me, I'm comming.
Now I hope you don't take that out of context or take it the wrong way either. I'm challenging myself, not you or the top 5 or 10 for that matter.
As far as asking for help, I have asked Randy Brown for help in adjusting and tuning a carb, and he has done that for me. Again I have a lot to learn about the motors and chassis setup and driving. Randy Erb helped me out when I first got the car. That is about all the help I have asked for and recieved since I started. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. I'm not saying that you haven't helped me or refused to help anyone. In fact I know that you have helped others.
Ok, I hope that clears that up. For the rest of you that have been offended by something I said here on HT, speak up!! I ain't shy, and I will tell you wheather or not I care what you think of what I said. (trying to keep it clean). I asked Hank to start the QSAC forum and I don't plan on shutting up anytime soon.
NEXT!!!
As I said before, I want to run GN, but there are several factors to running it for me. The operative word there is "me"
Factors: (and not in any particular order)
Money
Accumulation of parts and tires
Carb tuning experiance
Engine rebuilding experiance
Experiance in general
Comfort level (meaning would I be in the way of others)
Chassis setup and knowlege
I'm sure there are a few other things too. There is always something to learn in racing, be it the racing line, setup, personalities and whatever. I plan on running GN next year, because this is my second year in the top 3 of sportsman at my home track. I do OK against some of the top folks in the country, but by no means am I the "guy to beat" Brent, Mike and Rodger have that title, but I like to think I could get to that point at some time. I think the way to do that is to run other tracks, and try different things. That's how you learn. The other thing is to race people without taking them out. Getting the car to handle so well that if you and another car are the same speed, that you can run side by side for a lap or two or there, or trade positions severl times within a few laps is the best racing there is. I don't enjoy being the guy who gets laped 10 times in a 150 lap race and I don't think it's much fun for anyone else (including myself) if I were the guy putting 10 laps on the field all the time. Here is where sharing the knowlege will help the sport. Sometimes you have to show people several times before they get it. It's like that in anything.
OK long winded enough, I'm all for anything that helps the sport and increases the numbers. We all have the responsibility to help promote our hobby and showcase our skills. That is how you get more people intrested in all classes.
If there were more new racers, GN would be the only place for the better racers to run clean. This would also give the newbies something to shoot for as well. Moving up means you have a client base in which to support that class.
IHAUL 08-24-2007, 06:46 PM To race or not to race

GUNSLINGER#83 09-15-2007, 07:12 AM do you have to be a qsac member to run with your club and if not what time do you start the racing on sundays.
Thanks Larry
jbell31 09-15-2007, 12:43 PM Yep, must be QSAC member, you don't have to join GLQSR though. Gates open at 8:00AM and you can start your engine at 9:00AM. We generaly start the first heat around 11:30AM and we're done about 4:00PM, or 5:00PM depending on the racers.
GUNSLINGER#83 09-16-2007, 03:36 PM well im not a qsac member so i guess i cant run there if i can how much would it cost Thanks
hobbyten 09-16-2007, 06:31 PM i believe it's a ten dollar one day fee for qsac and twenty five for non members race fee. sure would like to have you come up for our last race this yr. also bring some friends to help on the cost of the drive.
IN2RACIN 09-17-2007, 08:59 AM well im not a qsac member so i guess i cant run there if i can how much would it cost Thanks

LetsRace 09-17-2007, 09:33 AM join QSAC every year and it not a problem, dont' even have to worry about where you can run and not run. its that simple.
IHAUL 10-12-2007, 05:51 PM LAST RACE OF THE YEAR

hobbyten 11-21-2007, 07:15 PM i would like to wish all my friends at the lansing track a happy thanksgiving and i can't wait to see you all next yr. big al
jbell31 12-15-2007, 10:25 AM Chrstmas is almost here and the four letter word in Michigan is about to fly. Time to get those wishes in and talk to Santa (or your wife) so you can get ready for the 2008 season.
I corrected the dates for the Tri-state races on the GLQSR site (sorry about that). There is a letter from the President and Vice President on the front page of the GLQSR site. The Club meeting will be held on March 23rd at Randy's house. Please let me know if you need directions.
I hope to see you there and have a great holliday and New Year!!!
jbell31 01-25-2008, 08:37 AM Just thought I'd bring the GLQSR thread back to the top.
Well, Since I have a small break with the websites, I decided to take my car apart, get a polishing grinder and polish all the aluminum parts. Good thing I did because I'm finding all kinds of small but concerning issues. Bent screw here and there, some not tight. Slightley bent camber links that unless you take it off, you can't see that it's bent.
It's going to look nice when I'm all done, but what a job!!!
Fabricated new bumpers all the way around and re-worked all the electronics and fuel tank. I made a fuel tank hanger and fixed my broken handle.
I have all the lettering done for the new truck body and cut it out to fit on my frame. I need to get the paint, prep it and paint it.
I'm just waiting for the new plates, then i can get new carb installed and tune it up.
Still snow on the ground, so I figure I can get it mostly done before the club meeting on the 24th of February. I hope the first race I go to this year is not the NCS #1 race, but if it is, so be it. Just have to put some track time in there.
Come on spring:woohoo:
Randy Baker 01-25-2008, 09:11 AM Hey Jim , the first race ya get to just might be the NCS race in Easley . That's if we don't have to dig ourselves out to get on the road . You must be as bored as I am with doing the polishing bit . Phil Custance finally broke me down enough to polish mine on the Sprinter . Sure hope the old adage " if it don't run chrome it " comes into play , because if it does I'll be dipping those parts in grease and oil and rolling them in the dust .
Randy
jbell31 03-21-2008, 08:05 PM Stupid, Stinking Snow!!!!!!!!
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
By the time there is enough numbers on the thermometer, the season is going to be half over. Can't spend $500 - $1000 dollars every time I go racing just to get to a track where I can get tire temps of more than 50 degrees....
Very sad :(
