I hope at least someone can pull something out of the hat for Toyota, I want to see them win a cup race. Dadvball 08-21-2006, 11:12 PM What body will they be using, anyone know? rlyoung1 08-22-2006, 01:41 AM What body will they be using, anyone know? The Camry Swifty 08-22-2006, 01:53 AM Well, so far it sounds like; Brian Vickers Jeremy Mayfield Dave Blaney Dale Jarret Micheal Waltrip And maybe Bill Elliot, and I probably missed a couple others. Actually, you've got all the announced full timers, and one rumored (Elliott). Michael Waltrip Racing: Michael Waltrip, Dale Jarrett, and ??? Team Red Bull: Brian Vickers and Bill Elliott? Bill Davis Racing: Dave Blaney and Jeremy Mayfield Germaine Racing (partial schedule, Car of Tomorrow events only): Todd Bodine Diecast4life 08-23-2006, 11:40 PM Think I'm a happy fella...I follow Waltrip and the addition of a past champ in Jarrett sure does help his team out.... Waltrips other ride could come down to Kavapil, Reiuteman or a mix of retired drivers. I was hoping for Ward Burton, but he keeps downplaying where he will wind up Swifty 08-24-2006, 02:10 AM I'd love to see Bill Elliott or Joe Ruttman get that ride. Correct me if I'm wrong- ol' Joe was the first driver to test a Toyota truck? Bill Elliott (for Team Red Bull) got the distinction of being the first driver to test the Camry just this week! 40Intrepid 09-25-2006, 08:11 AM I'm really sorry awesome Bill is jumping into the Banzai Bucket. Toyota should not be allowed in NASCAR. In ten years, the sport will be just Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. The Japs will outspend competition untill it dissapears like they did in CART, and IRL, and are doing in Supertruck. Begining of the end for NASCAR? :( mn_dodgeboy 09-25-2006, 01:45 PM talk about racist. Jesus. Swifty 09-26-2006, 02:41 AM I'm really sorry awesome Bill is jumping into the Banzai Bucket. That's how I felt when he bolted the Blue Oval for Mopar... 40Intrepid 09-26-2006, 08:13 AM talk about racist. Jesus. Sorry if that sounded too harsh. :( But if you are a Dodge Boy too like youre name suggest, you realize Dodge will be the first make run out of the sport when 'Toada gets here, right? NASCAR has been treating Dodge like the red-headed step-child since Daytona '01. Dodge cant catch a break, but you can bet Toyota will be catching all kinds of breaks. mn_dodgeboy 09-26-2006, 04:11 PM Wow. Just because Toyota is a "jap" company doesn't mean they are any less capable. And, no I don't strictly like Dodge. I have 2 GMs and a Dodge truck. Jeez. Bob Domecq 09-26-2006, 05:27 PM Don't sweat it 'Trepid. I get the gist of what you are saying and agree. Getting a bit too politically correct in here, ain't it? http://hometown.aol.com/rddomecq/images/x.jpg (http://www.diecastwarrior.com/) admiralhonshu 10-02-2006, 09:28 AM I have been watching the Drift Sport Racing Events with Toyota's against Mustangs that happen once in a while. Its not always the Toyota' wining because they are ricers, Mustangs do win on the flat road courses, on the mountains its a different story. Cant say because they are Jap, they will have special attention. Hey I own a 69 Chev, 77 XR7. in2deep 10-16-2006, 12:03 AM David Reutimann is getting the last spot for MWR. in2deep 10-24-2006, 04:18 PM A.J. Allmendinger took Team Red Bulls final car. Dadvball 10-26-2006, 02:26 PM Anyone know of a site that shows what the cars will look like? I'm not a huge Toyota fan, but it'll be nice to have another brand car in the races. It gets kinda old (for me anyway) to be watching a race and only seeing three different makes involved. It's gotten to the point where it can be a little hard to tell what's a Chevy and what's a Ford sometimes. Thank goodness for the nose on the Dodge being so different. I miss the old days (and the cars). Diecast4life 10-31-2006, 05:48 AM David Reutimann is getting the last spot for MWR. and he will go fulltime in Waltrip's #99 Busch car Roy Nakamura 11-01-2006, 11:10 AM Rather than debate the merits of a vehicles performance and ability it comes down to the bashing the National Orgin/Race of the company’s founder. DarkestLove 11-03-2006, 12:18 AM I do believe there are some racist undertones when bashing Toyota's entry into NASCAR. I don't think it's racism itself, but when it comes down to it, lots of people don't like it because it's un-American in their eyes. That's when xenophobia starts to rear its ugly head. However, I don't consider it racist in the "traditional" sense. It'd be interesting to see how people would react if BMW or Audi decided to field some stock cars. I don't think it would be quite the same. Maybe we're just really sore at how badly they've beaten us at "our" own game. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
