View Full Version : Roar outlawing PCM?
bud3738 08-18-2006, 03:21 PM I heard from a customer service rep from a Mail Order company( Tower Hobbies)
that roar was going to have the use of "PCM" radios banned at "ROAR" sanctioned events. Is this correct?
BOB LEE 00 08-20-2006, 12:22 AM Did they say why?? PCM radios have been used for 13 years or more. That doesnt sound right. Even some of the new 3pk's are being sold with the same old 13 year old PCM receivers.
davepull 08-20-2006, 02:21 AM sounds like BS to me.
SDL98 08-20-2006, 09:10 AM I hope this is a joke after running all sorts of radios and such now been using a pcm and never had a lick of trouble
TBRC1 08-20-2006, 01:09 PM I agree with Davepull.................... after all if they do that can we say ALOT of lost racers and NO one at the BIG races ????
bud3738 08-21-2006, 07:47 AM I hope it is B.S....can someone from roar answer
EAMotorsports 08-22-2006, 11:14 PM Im on the On-Road committee and have not heard anything about it.... I will try to get an answer for you in the next day or so from someone higher up. Thats not usually something I would hear about....>

Hyperdrive21 08-23-2006, 09:37 AM From Kenny B.
"This is news to me. I find it hardly correct. I will shoot off an e-mail to the rest of the ExComm and see."
Took an hour to get a response. You can contact him by e-mail through the ROAR website.
Dawn Sanchez 08-23-2006, 01:05 PM Sorry for the delay.. I just now found the ROAR forum under the Oval section..... not sure I agree with this one.....
regardless, that rumor is bunk. Nuff said.
bud3738 08-23-2006, 01:46 PM thanks....one guy at the track bought a new radio and didnt get the PCM version because of what the sales rep at Tower hobbies told him.......He had to get the "HRS" version of the new Futaba radio.....Which I believe means he needs to run a reciever pack........He is not a happy camper right now......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats False...You dont have to run a reciever pack with HRS...I never do unless I am running Mod. You do however HAVE to use digital servo's.

TBRC1 08-23-2006, 10:31 PM Man am I glad to hear that this rumor is BUMK as Dawn put it. Otherwise I'de be out of the race game. Bad enough I'm looking at new 4200's to keep up with the rest of the world on the ovals.
I wouldn't have bought anything until I confirmed what I was being told.
Billy W 08-29-2006, 11:20 PM More than likely Towers/ Great Plain's has a lot of the FM versions around and the were told to get rid of them any way they can... they call on hobby shops and give them a load at times to get rid of stock when they got to much or if something new is coming to replace it....
