1/1 scale F1 cars use a rapid flashing light on the back of the car during use in anything but perfect weather. I'd like to add one of these to my F201. I found a device at Radio Shack but it is too large and does not flash fash enough. It requires 2 AA batteries so I took the case apart and tried 2 AAA batteries. That works fine but I wan to use two watch size batteries. Also the little board that holds the LED is just too bulky to blend well with the back of the car.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can put together using off the self parts?

You can build one with a 555 chip. I'm pretty sure that you can power it from your reciever. Here's a link that will help you; http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/projects/flashl.htm . You can change the speed of flashing by changing the size of the capacitor. All necessary parts should cost you no more than 10$. If you need more info, search google for a 555 astable circuit. You should get plenty of links.
