My order from Milezone's arrived today.Very Cool. I bought the S&C 69 Mach 1's and Boss 9's. More awesome 'stangs for the collection. I love the plates on the Mach, a 69 Michigan plate that reads"MACH ONE".

I picked up two of the Mustangs from this series. I have the "stock" Boss 429 and the "stock" Mach 1. I'm just not in to the "custom" stuff.

First, the good: It looks like the "Boss 429" fender tampo has been re-sized to look more realistic. The tampo on the first edition of this model was too big. Also the Blue paint on the Mach 1 is beautiful as are the striping tampos.

Now the bad: The hood of my Boss 429 has paint issues that appear as though they were touched up with a brush. This is actually the second car I have received from greenlight with this issue. The first one I received like this was, ironically, also a white car....the '69 Boss 302 in white. To be honest, its annoying that they are selling cars like this. If the cars are defective, don't sell them. It can't be a fluke that I received two cars like this. Maybe its a problem with the white paint.

The other issues are with the Mach 1. First, the air scoop on the quarter panel is a tampo.....whats up with that? Why would they do that when they already have a mold with the air scoop on it???? I suspect someone screwed up and, after it was pointed out that the casting was incorrect, they simply slapped tampos on them. BTW....the tampo of the air scoop is too big. I give kudos to greenlight for using a shaker hood on the Mach 1. Unfortunately, its way too long. Oh yeah, and they forgot the color detail on the engine with this one.....its all black under the hood. One more error for the Mach 1....they forgot the front air scoop. Again, I don't understand this....they already have a casting with this feature. Hopefully these issues will be corrected in the next version of the Mach 1. I really want to like this casting.

Oh, I almost forgot.....the hood of the Mach 1 won't stay open. I guess this isn't that big of a deal since there isn't much to see under there anyway.

I know this sounds like a rant and, well, thats exactly what it is. I expect more from a 1:64 scale diecast that costs $5.

Skip,
I will echo some of your sentiments. While I do not have the same paint issues that you have on my white cars I am really dissapointed that they used a tampo for the side scoop as well. I have a minor but noticable paint flaw on the blue 70 Mustang that I missed in the store. I have all of the Mustangs from GL including the GM from the first series but I have a real problem dropping 7.00 for these. Yes I paid 7.00 in a store yesterday. I was planning on passing on these but when I saw the Yellow 69 429 I could not resist.
Overall I rate them a 6 out of 10 but for the price they should be 10/10.

I will have to say that the paint defects on the Mustangs are also common to other cars in the series. I opened a blue 67 Impala and the grey/silver 67 Impala. The blue one had two areas on thee right 1/4 panel that appear to have been touched up. The silver/grey Impala had a chip touched up on the top of the left door and one on the right 1/4 panel. I am hoping this does not become the norm for Greenlight because I really do think they are on the right track. I love the detail, the castings and the subjects they have replicated. I did not find these paint issues with the initial MCG release so, was somewaht surprised to find it in this release.

Well put. I think they are on the right track too, especially with their subjects. I think their '69 Mustang castings are great. However, they need to get these issues straightened out....especially considering the price point.

I've had JLs with the same thing. Don't they use the same factory as JL does or did use?

Agree with all you brought up. Just have one question. What is the front air scoop that you mention?

maybe I should have referred to it as a front spoiler or chin spoiler?

I know the spoilers were optional, but I don't recall seeing one without the other. So, I am assuming that Mach 1 Mustangs with rear spoiler should have the front spoiler as well. If they could be ordered separate of eachother, I stand corrected on that point.

Ok, I getcha. The GL Mach I would have looked better if they had used the Boss 429 casting and just changed the hood and added the rear spoiler.
Beautiful red Mach I

You hit the nail on the head. I'm not sure why they didn't do that. Hopefully they will with the next version.

Yeah....that red mach 1 sure is purdy :)
