It is a Briggs Vanguard 5.5 HP model 115432 type 003601 code 94072849. It is a horizontal shaft engine. It powers a 2400 psi power washer. The engine starts fine. It runs for a while (couple minutes) then begins to sputter and miss and then shuts off. It starts right up again if you choke it. Sounds like a fuel/carb problem however I am looking for opinions from you folks. Also there appears to be some type of drain (very small) tube on the float bowl. I have never come across one before. Anybody know what it is for ??? Thanks in advance for your help.

That probablly is a drain..... for the runs a couple minutes problem, take the gas cap off and see if it helps any, then move on to checking if the carb gets a steady supply of gas from the tank.

took the carb all apart and cleaned it. it was gummed up. problem solved -- thanks for the input
