View Full Version : Check out my Orange Corvette C6R!!
Midnightrun 07-30-2006, 05:25 PM I detached the body and painted it orange. I painted the rims black and painted the seat with racing seat belts and I painted the rollcage crome. I made front headlights black with little chrome dots to make it look like the light bulbs.(This is the normal Corvette C6R the yellow one with decals on it.)
THIS IS MY FIRST CUSTOMIZING POST ON THIS WEBSITE. ( so have mercy on me!! :p )

As you can tell I put an acctual radiator from one of my muscle machines into the open area hole in the front hood.

Midnightrun 07-30-2006, 07:13 PM Ok Ryan,
You first need a drill. It dosn't matter if its cordless or if it has a cord. I bought a $20 one from Ace hardware store. With a $3 11/64 drill bit.
You drill the bottom rivets out. (the rivets are where the screws would be on a normal model.)Drill slowly but carefully. Make sure you don't bust through the plastic. To put the car back together just use JB weld or any type of appoxy. For most of my cars I can just click them back together without worrying about appoxy or glueing them together. It matters how u drill the rivets.
For Example: Notice the hole, that means that I ripped right through the platic

This is the corvette without the busting through incident.

Hope it helps!!
(If you need anymore help just search through the customizing forum. You will find Topics held by me asking how to drill rivets out and put the chases back together)

ClearHooter 07-31-2006, 12:22 AM Another good radiator material if you don't have a spare one laying around is a brass tobacco pipe screen. You can get 'em at a smoke & tobacco shop. If that's all you buy they look at you kind'a funny and I still doubt they believe me when I tell them why I want them. :dude:
DaCustomizer 07-31-2006, 12:32 AM it helps alot but is there any other way to put the car back on cuz im not allowed to weld and stuff belive it or not.... lol
i heard that people just use screws to put it back on lol!!!
Ryan
Midnightrun 07-31-2006, 09:09 AM Well if you have to use screws then u have to drill through the rivet with a smaller bit. I havn't tried the screw yet so I don't think i can help you there.

Looks like you did a really nice job with the paint.
If you want to know more about using screws in the base, start reading about seven posts down in this thread:
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=135184&highlight=walthers
It will let you know what brand and size drill bit, tap, and screws that will work. If you are going to try this I recommend you go slow and be patient. Use a sharp drill bit and practice on a spare car first.
Hope this helps

DaCustomizer 08-01-2006, 03:27 PM im curious, is that a greenlight corvette?
the porsche look nice also though
Ryan
Midnightrun 08-01-2006, 03:58 PM I think its the regular Corvette C6 that you can find everywhere. I just painted the rims black and added police lights from a fast and the furious police car. The light on the trunk are from a ford expedition matchbox Texas polic vehicle.
 ---Midnightrun---
accobra64 08-01-2006, 10:24 PM I think that the C-6 Corvette is from the 2006 Matchbox regular 1 - 75 issue.
It has been issued by MB in a couple other colours in the past.
It is a very nice looking casting.
Cheers. Cobra
stretchdog 08-03-2006, 10:29 AM Nice Work. I really like the paint.
Midnightrun 08-14-2006, 04:53 PM Thanks
