Hello:
I need to make a boot CD for Window XP Home Edition on a PC that does not have a floppy drive.
I've read a little about it and it seems you have to buy MORE software to get this accomplished? Isn't there a easier way?
Not like the old days when you could just throw and floppy in and had the option to make a system boot floppy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Frankee

I have not tried an XP disk from here yet but I have used the 98 and ME.
http://bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
These were free and worked well for me.
Good Luck!! Greg

I am sorry I did not read the fine print. It looks like you have to pay to get to the XP stuff. Are you trying to reinstall or just boot from disk so you can access data?

Just got a new PC. I want to have it on hand just in case something does go wrong and I can't boot from my hard drive. Back in "the old days", that's one of the first things you did is make a system boot floppy.

your xp disk is your boot cd.
all you need to do is have your xp cd on hand (the cd that came with the system..it might say system restore or something...) When you pc is starting up hold down the 'del' key for most pc's sometimes its F1 or F2 (but mostl likely says briefly when the pc is starting up.. 'hold down del key to enter bios' or something like that.
then you will load into Dos Bios configurations...Using your arrow keys, scroll to the 'boot' tab and change your boot sequence from device 1- hdd to device 1 - CD drive. Then save and exit. Roboot with your cd in the cd drive and viola...
