View Full Version : Stuff I've done over the last month and a half
Dadvball 07-30-2006, 12:24 PM Thank goodness for decals! Due to a lack of time (and patience  ) in being able to strip, prime, and try to paint something, it's easier and less aggravating for me to just find a casting I like, decide which way to go with it, and either Zingerize, swap motor/tires, or just add decals. In the end I'm happy with how they came out.
Anyway, even though I've posted individual pics, I grouped them together and here's some pics on what I've done recently.
Thanks for the looks!

Unfortunately you can't read it, but the decal on the side of the delivery says:
Stan's Auto Repair
Las Vegas, NV

ClearHooter 07-30-2006, 03:32 PM Naturally I'm going to be partial to the sports racers.
zeb41 07-30-2006, 04:15 PM Dagnab it, but you sure are a busy beaver! I get one or two pieces done in a single year. Awesome!
grayhouse 07-31-2006, 06:18 PM I like 'em all  I'd have to say you have become a master on the use of decals to make a simple project really POP!
Dadvball 07-31-2006, 06:37 PM Thanks guys.
I've never been one with a lot of patience. If I start a custom I want to get it done. Too many times I didn't like how the paint came out, or I didn't wait long enough and smudged it, or something else went wrong. Most of these are part of a project for this coming weekend, and I still have a few more to do, so the decals just make life easier.
You sure are good with those decals. Hey.....do those come from a kit, or can you make your own? Are you able to design specific factory decals like hockey stripes for Cudas and Boss Mustangs?

Thanks for the comment.
I haven't started making decals yet. I buy them from Radical Decals. He has them in all the scales. Sheets with just numbers, with or without the meatball, different types of stripes, flames, sponsor stuff (STP, Champion).
Do a search for Radical Decals and I'm sure you'll find him. I'd post it for you, but this computer at work won't let me minimize HT to search.
NovaSS 07-31-2006, 08:28 PM Killer Nova.

eyecandy 08-03-2006, 09:14 PM Very great looking projects!!!!!!!!!!
69Stang 08-03-2006, 09:29 PM Oh yea! I love them all! You GOT to price me those three road racers! I remember when you first did the Vette!
HOW MUCH?????
OK< Let me think about it! snicker....
Seriously, I love the work. Decals are tricky. It requires so much taste and restraint to make it just right. It does not take long to go from perfict to tacky. I think I liked every one of these!
STUTZ 08-04-2006, 12:38 AM You are a busy person! Great work!
FLOYDFROG 08-04-2006, 01:15 AM Very nice. I really like the Ford police car! Why hasn't JL done a VW zinger??

Pretty sure their license agreement doesn't allow it. I think that is the same reason you don't see too many VW WL's with white tires. All I can think of with white tires is that Adkins special edition and those Love Vans and Beetles.
Sweet customs by the way!
How many of them will be at the JAM?
DiecastLive.Com 08-04-2006, 10:12 AM Very cool stuff and nice customs. Now paint some of them tires and bases white, that would be sweeeet!!!!!
Out of curiousity is the stans auto repair your company or? I had race theme drag bus made few years back and i snuck on a logo from my company. No one really even noticed it untill i pointed it out, wasnt for exposure of my company but was for fun.

Radical Decals has a sheet with different company names/logos, including tow companies, auto parts, etc.
And thanks everyone for the comments.
