View Full Version : Excel program error
There is an error in the G's (Laterial Acceleration) formula should read as:
=(F20*16)/TOTALWEIGHT
I forgot to convert lbs into oz which make a huge difference in the G's.
If you need the update then ask its not a problem at all.
I will send you the program. :thumbsup:

JPH Racing 08-08-2006, 09:12 PM RPM: I'm not an expert at the mathematics ... But, I think there maybe be a mistake with the RPM formula? As written, the RPM seems awful high?

RPM: I'm not an expert at the mathematics ... But, I think there maybe be a mistake with the RPM formula? As written, the RPM seems awful high?
Jake
HUMM.. let me see.
There's 63360 inches in a mile.
That's 5280 feet in a mile.
MPH= 3600 x track size in miles / lap time in secounds
MPH= 3600 x (track size/5280)/ lap time in secounds
I'll check it out...
MPH= FPS x .6818
FPS= MPH x 1.467
Dead on formula!!
Tire RPM = 63360/ (12/tire circ) !!! YOUR RIGHT IT'S IN FEET !!!!
***** NEEDS TO BE DIVIDED INTO INCHES....
Rpm= MPH x (final gear ratio) x tire RPM / 60
The new formula should read for RPM
=D18*E11*63360/(12/RRAFTER)/60
Thanks Jake for letting me know.
You are RIGHT .. I checked it against MPH. :freak:
I still make mistakes every now and then...Its correct now ..
SORRY GUYS!
JPH Racing 08-09-2006, 01:47 PM Got another question ... Your formula is: =D18*E11*63360/(12/RRAFTER)/60
I had it figured out as: =D18*E11*(63360/(H5*3.1416))/60
The main difference is you use tire diameter, and I use tire circumference. Not sure which is the correct way, but the RPM # is different between the two formulas so I'd really like to know!

To find out how many revolutions your tire will make in one mile you
must divide tire circumference into 63360.
RRAFTER or H5 is the right rear tire diameter.
You are right Jake!
So, the new formula is :
=D18*E11*(63360/(H5*3.142))/60
:thumbsup:
