eyecandy 07-28-2006, 10:40 PM Sorry to rant, but....
I am so stupid! I have spent hours and hours on my most recent project, a 1:18 scale, well, lets leave it at 1:18 scale, plan on unveiling it at lightning fest even though it is based on a HW casting. At any rate, during a portion of reassembly, a door slipped from my grip and bounced from the hood to the roof and down the rear quarter panel. there is no way I could ever touch up that much scrathing and dings. So Tonight, I stripped all the pieces back down to bare metal and re-primed, hopefully this weekend I can get the body pieces repainted and get the body reassembled and ready for the accesories that are due in at the hobby shop on Tuesday.
I guess so much for getting another one doen before fest, at least this one will be done right.
Sorry to rant, thanks for listening..Happy Customizing!!!
Dadvball 07-28-2006, 11:36 PM Got pics? We'd all love to see it.
ClearHooter 07-28-2006, 11:48 PM I hate it when that happens..........At least you don't have a black hole that sucks up everything that's dropped.
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/7231/underthetablewl6.th.jpg (http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=underthetablewl6.jpg) A place beyond deminsion, time and mass; that gobbles up anything that crosses its path. Its been eliminated countless times only to reappear with even a more veracious appetite. Its the black hole known as "UNDERTHETABLE!!!!!! :freak: "
rlyoung1 07-29-2006, 12:27 AM That's happened to me many times. I've dropped a few during reassembly, very frustrating.
Swifty 07-29-2006, 01:24 AM Wow, I'm just glad the bodywork didn't dent. That's happened to me a couple of times on 1/64. My banger racer '47 Chevy, for example, became a banger because I dented the roof by dropping it. It's not damaged enough to write off the model, but it's enough to prevent it from being good for anything else.
zeb41 07-29-2006, 07:58 AM Geez I hate when that happens! I feel your pain Chris. Last year I made a Rebel Rod from a Magma '71 Roadrunner for NovaSS. It actually started that one the year before, but I coudn't get get it finished in time for Fest because every time I laid my hands on it I damaged it somehow. I finally got it to where it was a presentable model and gave it to Ed. I was pretty disappointed in that one because it had so much potential. I'll have to dig out the pics I have of it and post them here again.
As far as you car is concerned Chris, damaged or not, I'm looking forward to seeing it.
grayhouse 07-29-2006, 02:37 PM Been there, done that...and I'm sure I'll be going there and doing it again. My biggest problem is when I'm working under the magnifier for long periods I forget that the magnifier is there and when I go to bring the car up I smack the side of the magnifier with it...OUCH! If only I had a new casting for each time I've done that I'd have a hell of a collection by now.
CH, I know all about that ravenous black hole. The area I work over is a very deep pile shag. Once something comes in contract with it it aint ever comin back up :(
Midnightrun 07-29-2006, 04:47 PM WOW black hole for sure. Thats why when I am in the middle of a custom operation I clear my whole desk and try to keep everything in a neat orderly fashion.

After fest I'll post pics, if its done...ugg!
Last night I got it back to bare metal, primed, sanded, and primed again, re-sanded today at work and it is all set for re-painting. Tomorrow I'm going to put my decals on again and get everything clear coated, reassembly scheduled for Tuesday night. I want to make 100% sure everything is completely dry before reassembly. With my last parts not due in until Tuesday this didnt really put me behind on this project, but I have a bunch of other things I want to have done before lightning fest, but o well. I'll find a way to get it all done...sleep, who needs sleep??

Then you would hate the way I work.:D I don't have the ability to be neat. I try to be, but I just don't seem to have it in me.
Lpgeoteacher 07-30-2006, 09:25 PM Keep working Chris it will come! I cant wait to see the finished product.
eyecandy 08-02-2006, 08:45 PM Everything just got a final clearcoat applied...re-construction to take place this weekend
eyecandy 08-04-2006, 08:00 PM well, I tested the clearcoat in a non-visible area, and it was as hard as it was gonna get, so I started assembly. I got it together with only Minor paint scuffs, the window piece would not go back in place right and took a small gouge from the paint. A little touch up and it'll be ok. Overall, I am quite pleased. Pics to come after lightning fest, want to bring some suprise with me up there
