I know there isn't much traffic on this forum but for those that do read it just wanted to say I just got a new iMac a few days ago. Never owned a Mac before but needed something to keep me busy.

Must say it is pretty nice. It is taking some getting used to but was able to import all of my email and address book to the Mac and am now using it in place of my PC.

I do have a few programs that run on a PC that I need to use so I bought the Parallels VM software that lets me run other operating systems in a vertual machine. I loaded in Windows 2000 into a VM and then installed the Windows programs I needed. It works pretty sweet if I have to say so myself.

I just started using my new 17" iMac today. I am still getting used to OS X. My previous computer was a 7 year old iMacDV400, using OS 9.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the new unit. I also have the Parallels VM software and will use it when (if) I get around to needing Windows.

Hank,
Do you still like the parallels software? I know VMWare is supposed to be coming out with a version for Mac soon. Also, have you looked at apple bootcamp instead?

i use parallels at work and its great. i do alot between the mac and windows world, and though i dont have a "permanent" mac station, i run parallels on my mac laptop so i always have a "PC" at hand. ;-)

imacs are great.. pricey.. but great.

and if your a coder/linux guy .. then heck its fun ;-)

I haven' been able to get Parallels to work for me. I have yet to download the newest update. I'll try that before I complain too much. But then maybe it doesn't like Windows 98?
