Well it ain't James' 550 'til I get the decals printed. I need a bunch more for the clear sheet before I'm able to go to print. So now she's just a silver Spyder. I cut the back off opened up the grill work back there by grinding the underside of the deck down with a grinding wheel. When I got it thin enough I carefully cut the holes out with a single edge razor. I believe an Xacto would have been too thick and damaged the ribbing. Since I've yet to find a VW pan motor casting I molded one from Magnum Steel. Looks OK if you don't look close. The wheels came off another Kids Connection VW. I think they look much better than those huge suckers that came off of it. They give a much lower ride.

Yeah. I Photoshopped the back ground.

nice work,love the detail!

The shorter stance makes all the difference in the world.
I'm likin the wheels too, where'd ya snag em?

I went to a hobby store and found a package of ( rub on, transfer) numbers.

It has all sizes and fonts so I can replicate the scale and style of the numbers from hood to doors.

Very nice. That reminds me, I found my Brumm 1:43 of that car (finally) and it was made without the red stripes on the rear fenders. If I could post a pic from home I would show it to you, but my computer is goofy. Maybe I can do it from here at work tomorrow.

I've got a pic of the stripes. I may just tape 'em off and hand paint 'em with one brush stroke. The numbers and the "little Bastard" decal will have to be water slides. When I do that I'll probably epoxy the head lamps too.

I love it! There's so much potential in those Maisto castings- it's a shame most don't have clear windows or interiors.

I got a five pack all of them were convertables. A Prowler, BMW, Porsche, New VW and a Lotus. A lot of stuff to hack up. I may even get rid of some Dubbs on one or two of them.

looking good there CH  Those wheels are so much better than those fugly originals and great job on the tilt clip. I really am surprised that nobodys done a "Little Bastard" in 64th before, considering it's infamous status in both pop culture and the racing world.

I suppose if your talking about a company marketing it in 1/64 there probably would be a pretty big rowe when it went onto the pegs at Wally World, K-Mart and Target.
