I agree with ya on that. I am not a big fan of a high discharge rate but a 30 or 35 amp pulse discharge would have been nice, according to the owner a higher discharge rate is not be possible, due to hardware limitations. They are testing Higher charge rates but need to find the limit. I dont like the sensitive dial. There is no protective glass or plastic cover on the lcd screen, dont run your fingers or anything over it. The output leads are to short. The first charger I bought didnt work for crap, it was screwed from day one. False peaks occur with wrong settings or even bumps to the charger. No manual repeak option but does have automatic repeak if a cell takes less than 200mah's than the rest of the pack. Screen is top veiw and not front. Company is over seas, shipping, repairs could get costly.Low charge rate aswell. 6 cell is a little higher than 4 cell.

The second charger I got was perfect, everything worked fine, after a month of testing I noticed some positive things. My packs perform awesome through out the entire run, 3800's were taking 4200-4300+ mah's. This charger doesnt realy allow you to over charge like you could encounter with your normal charger on a cell or the entire pack, saves money and your next race. Full peak of the pack instead of avg.You can view each cells temp, voltage, mahs up to the time is peaks out. Intresting stuff. It does discharge individualy but at a low rate, one less tray or eq you dont need. The fact that you can download the latest updates from home is realy cool, again saves time and money.Charge two packs or discharge at the same time, motor run feature. Recomended settings and tested for both 3800's and 4200's and shown good results were
deltapeak 4 mv
temppeak 50 degree C
mintemp 46 degree C
current 5 or 6 amps
Erik Jonk the owner of spintec said there is already plans for software updates, like better menu structure, more settings, LiPo function, PC data readout function and more. He also said there will not be any hardware changes soon.

Holy crap Ken, you could have left something out so I could chime in, LOL.
Ken basically nailed it, the one thing I found is with the fahrenheit settings, it's screwey, just use the celsius and you'll be fine...I use 45 minumum and 49 peak.

The concept of charging each individual cell is great, and I think this charger will be the one to have  .

"low charge rate" I charge at 6 amps, what were you looking for???

Later, Bret

PS. I think Ken touched on this, but while charging in the main unit you can run a motor, or charge another pack, or discharge a pack, with the external connection, very cool, and not available on other chargers.

sorry bret, LOL

My temp of 49c is not reached, the 4mv delta peak comes into play before the max temp does, but at any rate, my cells are about 135.

Atleast 8amps, I have occasionaly charged at that before, or just wanted the juice thrown in there fast for those last min changes when on a certain time frame before race time. I am known for being late unless someone drives me to a track. LOL

I assume you put the setting to 4200 instead of 3800's. I beleive the same settings for 3800's apply to the 4200's as far as min and max plus MV's. I only charged 4200 a couple times on the spintec before I sold the last unit I had.

The only problem I have found is that when you use the 4200 profile that is built in with the 1.05B software update when you power it off and back on it will reset your peak temp to 2 degrees F. It does NOT do this in the 3800 profile. Not sure why but Spintec is working on a fix for it. The only problem is so far I am the only one who has reported this problem and they cant duplicate it there. So check your chargers and see if any of you have the same thing. If so email Erik Jonk at Spintec and let him know.

Other than that one bug I love mine. Its been working great and batteries have not fallen off at all!

How long does it take your charger to finish the pack after the readout says all batteries are full?
Mine takes about 10 minutes charging a 4 cell 4200 pack. I'm wondering what the charger is doing or if I have a setting wrong.

Thats another bug I informed Spintec about. I also race 6 cells and at first didnt think nothing about it untill I charged a 6 cell. When charging a 6 cell it beeps, cuts off and show's you your match % numbers as soon as the last cell get's done. That will be addressed in the next update as well.

I have heard of some I.C.C's burning up while charging a 4 cell pack but not burning the pack up unless it was setup wrong....Not say your's didnt as they do have some bugs in them. And it seems that some bugs are in some chargers but not others....

Ive had no major problems yet and so far it's the best charger I have had for my batteries.

Yes I have cut my millvolts to 3.0 per cell. Peak temp is 125. No vented cells so far. All my batteries have been staying like new since I started using the Spintec.

Hey Bill,

The problem with that is that because it basiclly has 6 chargers in it they can not cutt off the other 2 cells when charging a 4 cell. This is why the charger gets a lot hotter charging 4 cells over 6 cells....the charge energy is absorbed by the heatsink....At least that's how Erik explained it to me when I asked about that!!
