I created this forum to discuss the Progress of the New Track in Benton, Maine. We are in the process of dismantling the old track in Fairfield, formally (Central Maine RC Speedway) and building a new track in Benton. This track will be formed by the racers of Central Maine and promises to be not only fun, but a fast, carpeted, and best of all, a banked oval track. :thumbsup:
We hope to have the track ready to race on within a couple months. Everyone has been working hard to get this place up and running. We look foward to seeing everyone there once we're ready. :wave:

Casey, should you put your E-Mail link on this thread? I will have my money this friday night. I think that as HOT as it was friday and everyone still showed up to help tear the track down it will not take that long to rebuild. Just shows what a good bunch of people we race with. :) :) :)

Dennis has offered some help during the first week in August. My wife is having surgery on the 7th so depending on how that goes, will depend on how much I can get done that week. I ordered a new Grill for the track. It is actually the George Foreman XL Family Size Grill with Bun Warmer. I figure that will be faster/easier to cook and clean then the old grill from the snack bar. :thumbsup: I'm also looking into getting a new fryer if we decide to sell fries.

Hey all. On Tuesday night, a few of us went up to the track to try and get a bit more of the track taken apart. We worked until about 9:30PM and finished taking the entire second half of the track down.
This comming Friday, we will be moving the lumber over to the new location in large trailers and pickups. I picked up the keys Tuesday afternoon for the new building. Anyone that can come give a hand would be welcome. It would be a good time to come check out the new digs and maybe scope out a pit area. :thumbsup: When we have everything over to the new building, We will be install some of the pit tables. I figure, they will be a good place to store the carpet so we have plenty of room to work on the track construction.
We have a ton of work left to do, but my goal is to be semi-operational by September 1st. When we are up and running, I'll work on creating a Race Season Schedule for our Big Races once I speak with the other local tracks to determine what their plan is. :dude:

Dave, thanks for the words of encouragement. I've been a bit stressed about everything. Bringing all this together is proving to be a huge task combined with my regular job. After seeing how hard people have been working to help me get this going, I decided that I can and will get this done. The people I've met here are like family (Dennis being a distant cousin :lol: ) and without getting mushy, I don't want to let them down.

Nope, wasnt him. I think it may have been in the past at some point though. ;) It was some guy in 19 turn. I hope to make it to K&N for the blast, so I am going to try to make it to RCSRC.

Hey Dennis, I set aside a 4-cell Battery box and a motor carrier. It is goint to be about $30 for both.
90% of the materials were brought to the new track location on Friday. We moved over 175 sheets of plywood along with about 300 2x4's. Due to the rain and the limited amount of help we had Friday night, we were unable to make a second trip and get the rugs and other items. The final push to move the remaining items will be this comming Friday evening. I will arrive at the old track at approx. 3:00 PM. Please come and lend a hand if your not busy. :thumbsup:
I want to thank those that have shown up regularly to assist in the move, especially the kids. We got an increadable amount of work accomplished. :thumbsup:

I need to work this Friday night...I will be there in a couple of weeks...I just worked 18 hours overtime this week and didn't have time to do anything..Like I mention before I'm going on vacation the weekend of Aug 4th and after that I'll beable to make the trip to help..The Kid will be with me also..Thanks for getting the cases for me...

I worked at the new track yesterday afternoon cleaning up. I'll be going over a few times this week to move stuff out of the way so we can start construction of the track. I'm hoping to pick up some of the carpets Wed afternon. I want to put together a meeting of club members the first Friday in August at the new track location to discuss what's left to do as well as other details relating to construction. Thanks All!

Hi all. Last night we finished moving all of the carpet etc for the track. Eben began laying out one half of the track outline. Next friday, at 4:30pm we will be at the new location working on construction. We will also attempt to hold a quick meeting of anyone interested in being a club member and discuss issues regarding the new track. We're only going to allow Midgets to race. If their over 6' tall, they will have to kneel down. :D On a more serious note... We will have plenty of room for the banked track. The drivers stand will only be a few inches off the ground.

Our race schedule is completely up in the air at the moment. I promise, I'll let you know just as soon as I figure it out. :thumbsup:

Last night we finished half of the track framework. It's looking really good! I forgot the digital camera at home last night so I didn't get any pictures, but we got alot done. Considering we have been only 2 - 3 people working, things are going fast.

Unfortunately, I have had to commit elsewhere for Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 7-9). Hopefully, your fall race won't be that weekend.:(

No worries. Our race schedule will not be the same as it has been in the past. We're starting fresh with new dates. More to come in the next few weeks.
