View Full Version : New Aquisition
TGtycopro 07-11-2006, 10:22 PM I had to run to the big city today and while there I stopped in at the newest hobby shop in town to see if they had any Slot cars etc.
After ordering the new Scalextric Austin Martin DBR9 from Jadlam yesterday, i was hoping to find something that would be a good matchup for it.
Lo & Behold the shop had 1 scalextric Digital car in stock...........after seeing the car i left, took care of business etc but I stopped back before i left town to see if the Boss would cut me a deal.
Retail 59.99 and i managed to get out of there tax included for a shade over 50.00........not a terribly bad price for this lil Gem.
The Daimler Chrysler Competition Dodge Viper!!!
I wonder ho Kasey Khane would do in one of these animals
TGtycopro 07-16-2006, 07:43 AM I got so excited about the Dodge Viper I had to go look at the 1:1 counterparts.
While i didnt get to see a new Viper ( I guess there is a waiting list)
I did leave with one of these

oldraceral 07-16-2006, 08:33 AM Well, you can definitely carry more slot cars in that compared to a Viper.
TGtycopro 07-19-2006, 08:28 PM Sure nuff Al ( it is Al right? ) but it seems to like to Jump the Slot when the 345 HP Hemi kicks in
Still waiting on the Digital Austin Martin DBR9 from GBritain to show up.
Anyone have any experience with purchasing over there and the time frame to get your item?
Todd
TGtycopro 07-30-2006, 12:35 AM OK, I got the Austin Martin (took 11 dats from Great Britain to minnesota)
Wifey gave me the difital set with the 2 porsche Boxters for my Birthday on tuesday so I worked on benchwork today. Hopefully i can finish up the benchwork tomorrow and start on the roadbed.
I might have to lay this track out on the kitchen floor to test drive it tomorrow though...........I'm feeling the need for speed :)
AfxToo 08-02-2006, 08:09 PM Very nice indeed. Those digital sets are a blast. Many hours of slot car nirvana ahead of you. Enjoy!
TGtycopro 08-10-2006, 05:14 PM Nirvana indeed LOL
I am still working on layout but did manage to run a few laps and I sure nuff like the digital set and Very glad i bought a bunch of Xtra track sections.
I posted the plan in trackplanning....new thread "the plan"
Heres a few items ive picked up in the meantime whilst i was busy Working trying to pay for this obsession . Added the Porsche set cars and the Maserati since last reported.
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f74/Tileguy86/track10.jpg
And this one along with Alonso's F1 in digital are ordered but not here yet!!

TGtycopro 09-22-2006, 06:08 PM Since everything I have so far is fairly modern in 1/32 i felt the need for something a bit more historical..................What better than going back into time to the 1960's
24 hours of lemans...............American Car company Ford launches its rendition of the Bradley GT the Ford GT40 and stuns the crowds with a 1st 2nd and 3rd place finish
Ferrari answers back the next year with its new 330 P4 edition.
Now in my mind, for something historical, it just doesnt get any better than this rivalry on the international scene  ...............here at home in the 60's well, Mopar was dominating while Ford just kept on a trying. Things were not always to be quite so one sided however with racing car manufacturers as things began to even out shortly after mopars wing cars had thier day in the sun. Too bad we have No superbird available....The Torino however is!! ;)
These 2 have been purchased and are in the pipeline. I had to order these from Jadlam in GB so i'll see them in around a week and a half....Cant wait!! :)

VERY nice TGtycopro! I've thought about snaggin the GT40 before, but I like how you paired them - US vs. Intl.! Very cool!! Let us know how they handle on the track!
PD2:thumbsup:
TGtycopro 09-26-2006, 09:36 PM Yea, those 2 pair up well but not as well as an original 60's GT (like the goodwood)
I kinda snuck one by on you since that is a 2004 concept Ford GT.............I need to find the older goodwood in digital, either that or order one from Jadlam..........Of course having that 2004 gives another piece of meat for my Dodge Viper to chew up ;)
TGtycopro 09-29-2006, 12:32 PM I was going to go fishing/camping this weekend...................the weather put the kbosh on that...Kinda glad I didnt in a way.............Guess what showed up after only 6 days ;)

TGtycopro 03-10-2007, 09:36 AM WOW, Its been TOO Long since I picked up a new car I see. Worked out of town a good portion of this winter and the layout required Other spending.........BUT, I just couldnt pass on a couple of classics
These 2 are on the truck as they say and the Digital Chips are also on the way.
I'm looking forward to giving the New Revells a run around the Circuit :)

TGtycopro 03-13-2007, 04:16 PM Well my new aquisitions have arrived..I did have to pick diferant Number for the Cobra and I opted for the Road America Vette instead of the Sebring (road America's kinda my Home Track even if its 8 hours away LOL )
So heres my 2 new vintage babies in their new home..............Now all I have to do is install the chips and its SHOW TIME!!!

I would have to say Revell/Monogram did a very nice job on these offerings and The Boxed Limited Editions Packaging is truly a Class Act!!!
ee_prof 03-14-2007, 07:56 AM Hey Todd,
Nice cars!!
Those Vettes handle well, but those Daytonas are top heavy?!?!? I had one & got rid of it since I couldn't get it to handle.
Your track is looking good!!!
Greg
TGtycopro 03-14-2007, 02:04 PM Thanks Greg.......ya know, you coulda been part owner by Proxy if you'd Leased that track to me ROFLMAO
Did you run the cobra WITH or WITHOUT Magnets??
I may make it a magnetless car and Add some lead to it ......try and track tune it some.
Have you had Opportunity to run one of the Scalet Ford GT's Yet.......Nice cars great handling and WAY Fast!!! (of course nothing in a sedan is going to beat those Porsche Set cars.....They SCREAM and have enough Magnet they stick like an F1 on HOT Dry asphalt!! They are actually TOO fast for my track........Another pair that the magnets are coming out of and some real weight added down Low!!
Its either that Or I'm going to Rob the chips and turn em into a crash & Burn site LOL
Ive turned a few laps now on the painted track and I must say I like where this has gone.. Lap times for the bulk of the cars run between 5 and 6 seconds.........Non Mags should run around an 8 second lap and that lil RED Porsche breaks the sound barrier at around 4.56. (told you it screams LOL ) I'm serious, It outruns that High revving Ferrari & Renault F1 cars I have simply because They wont stick to the track like that Porsche.....Its a FREAK I tell ya, Even faster than the Yellow one thats Best time Just edged under 5 flat at a 4.987!!(thats with around 100 or so laps on each so its not my driving, Its a slightly stronger MAG on that RED car I'm sure.......4/10ths is ALOT on a 42' lane IMHO..........You would know better than me though since youve been racing these big guns much longer than I have :)
One day soon I'll get the computer Interface and Seperate power supply done... Couple that with the twin Power base Mod and independent power supply for the lane changers and She'll be good to go...........Ive got 3 Power taps ready to drop In place (2 of them from those Analog hoo up tracks I got from you (thanks, made 2 of those power taps a walk in the park ;) )
No ANALOG for me, I'm ALL digital on this 1/32 Track...
If I want ANALOG I'll pull out the ol 500' + of TYCO Track and do a little Fantasy NASCAR action.........Road America scaled down with around oh 250 - 300' of TYCO TRACK set up over in the towns Community Center and toss in a little #9 Kasey "KO" Khane vs a #24 Jeffy "GEEEEMAN" Gordon Action......hmmmm that could actually be Kinda fun :D
Might have to Throw a Warba MN "Center of the universe" Slot Party one day....BIG OL HO track at the comm center and members of our yahoo group get special passes to TEK 32 Micro Speedway ;)
Good to see your still hanging about Greg!!
TG
ee_prof 03-14-2007, 04:08 PM Hey Todd,
So which Porsche is so fast?
We have some Porsche 962, that are old Scaley (Hornby) cars. They are very toy like, but for some reason they fly!?!? We pull them out to race against one another some weeks.
I tried the Daytona with the stock magnet & even tried adding a Carrera magnet into the magnet holder. Neither combination was sucessful, it would flop over in the corners?!?!? I remeber reading somewhere, about removing the spare & lower the interior to get the CG lower.
Over at HRW, there are some that are repowering these cars with Artin motors & removing the magnets, since it makes them more driveable. I tried it with my GS Vette (I burned up the stock Monogram motor) & it is a fun car to drive now!
I haven't tried a Scaley GT-40 yet, but would like to get one. I had plans on buying one, but ended up with a Fly Porsche 917 kit since it reminded me of the old AFX cars. What a piece of junk the Fly is!?!?!? Should have bought
the Scaley!
I have HO stuff set up for fun, every once in a while myself! Right now there is a 14' long oval in my cellar, along with the 2 1:32 tracks!!!!
Greg
Greg
TGtycopro 03-15-2007, 09:06 AM Ah yes, the ol 917's.......I'll have to get me a couple of those 1 day!!
The Porsche Boxters are the ones i'm talking about that come in the Digital Lane Changers set (although there are several other colors available as individual cars)
The Ford GT is the 2004 concept I'm talking about... I do have the Goodwood GT40 but havent chipped it yet....This weekend is my Chipping Session with 3 cars to do. the 2 revells and the GT40( I havent decided if I am going to do the RichG Brake light mods on this one yet....I spose i'd best make up my mind LOL )
Speaking of Old Aurora's, Ive got an Oldy but a goody listed right now A Lighted Ferrari 512M (the older one with the front vent open)
Hard to think about Aurora without thinking about this one and its RED counterpart ;)

I also have listed a Miller High Life Porsche 962 (these are getting hard to come by)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260094849700&rd=1&rd=1 (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3Dsspagename)
And a TYCO Race Management Computer that actually WORKS...... LOL
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260095101597&rd=1&rd=1 (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3Dsspagename)
the controllers attached to this thing are actually far better than the STOCK Tyco 12 dozen pair I have laying around also....Must be a different resistor size installed. Not sure but they are Far more sensitive than the normal controllers.
I decided I'm going to go strictly NASCAR with my HO stuff and sell off the other cars to help feed my obsession with digital 1/32
I just couldnt bring myself to Part with my Nascar collection....Its Not HUGE mind you but its a good start at 18 different Liveries......something there for everyone!! :)
ee_prof 03-15-2007, 12:10 PM Hey Todd,
Nice cars you are selling! The Tyco 962 is the same body style as the Scaley Rocket I have!
Those Scaley Porsche Boxters & Audi TTs are similar types of cars. Not a lot of detail, but quick!
I won't tell you how many NASCAR HO cars I have (Actually I don't even know how many there are)?!?!?!?
Greg
TGtycopro 03-16-2007, 01:32 PM You must not be feeding quite as many hobbies as I am Greg :)
Model RR, Slot 1/32, Slot HO, Music/recording, Camping/fishing/hunting, motorcycles, Computers, Woodworking and last but by NO means least, A wifey who LOVES to Travel.........Alaska, Cabo San Lucas, And next up is Costa Rica......Man that would buy ALOT of steeeeeenkin Slot cars ROFL
TGtycopro 04-08-2007, 05:42 PM I managed to slip another new one in the back door.
Jan Magnesuns winning 2005 #64 Corvette C6R was a Must own.......at least for any Red blooded American who grew up on Chevy's
