The infield is sod and yes there is an outer retaining wall. There will be pics when all is finished, this is now one of the premiere paved oval tracks in the country without a doubt, and it's just ten mins from my house to boot.

Looks nice! Donnie should be proud and probably exhausted. I'm sure he'll be glad to get all this done and over with and be able to take a break from construction work for a little while.

I saw Jimmy saying something about a different way of doing the lap counter loop, what was he talking about?

I was glad to read on the board that the hobby shop actually helped with the upgrades, WOW, that IS news! ;)

The metal on the walls looks great, is that what you were talking about doing several years ago Mike? I'm sure that will help reduce the maintenance, now it will be interesting to see what happens when a 1/4 scale and wall meet.

It's good to see people finally stepping up and helping. Every track needs reliable people who will just give a little of their time for the love of the sport.

Everything that everybody has done and everything that's been donated in addition to what Donnie's put into it has really made the place look GREATER THAN GREAT! Now it's time to go reel in some of those big races.

WOW what an undertaking! GREAT job guys, this track really looks good and if it is as smooooooth as it looks we ought to fly around it.

Now that Cooper's is closed for this summer, maybe I can get the Mafia to come down on one of the .09 Series off weekends and see how the nitro cars hook up.

pepe
07-20-2006, 11:59 AM
Lin,
It really is as smooth as it looks, you'll be amazed at how the cars handle and sound now,it should provide for some extremely good racing, you ought to see the place under the lights now,WOW! It's almost time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor for everybody that helped out in the transformaton.I just wanted to take a second and say THANK YOU for all involved,we've got an amazing place to race now because of your efforts. With a trackowner that has a continual improvement mindset and the willingness to get it done,we probably haven't seen the last upgrade,a track is like a house there is always something to be done.

If you have not been to Carolina R/C Complex to race, you don't know what your missing. Smoothest track in the Southeast and some of the best racing anywhere.

Oval / Touring every Sat. starting at 1:00

Stock Touring on the road course,
Jr. Sportsman, 4 cell Sportsman, Spec Truck, 21t and 19t on the Oval.

Had my first test on the new asphalt on Sunday. Gary Warren, Lin (Mclin) and myself had a test day for the nitro cars. All I can say "after almost 20 years of racing this track is the smoothest I have raced on". 355' of fast fun and may provide side by side racing in the nitro cars. The cap tires looked like they were not wearing at all. If I was not 6 hours away I would be a regular there. This is the type of track the racers dream of. I see a lot a success for the new Carolina R/C Complex (oval, off and on road)

If you have and organization or run a series you should talk to the owner. Great track and a great hobby shop.

I agree 100% with Larry. This track is GLASS SMOOTH and you have to find the "hick" off of 4. This track is as smooth if not smoother than a few carpet tracks we all have run on in the past.

Cap Tires, .135 under the nose, w/purple and green springs and the car never touches or comes off the ground!

Rumor has it that the paved oval nats will be at Carolina, any idea of what the dates will be.

Pepe you pulled the trigger just about the time I looked into this thread.... didn't mean to step on your post.............

Any-how we will be setting up a web page with all the information about the track.. pits....trailers, electric, eating, hotels ect. you name it. All the info one needs to get here and have a great week of racing. I am sure this will be a National event you will not want to miss.
