race number four of the focar series is history. the weather looks like it was going to be ugly for saturday, but the weather gods smiled down upon us!
we had 81 entries for race number four and that keeps the 2006 average right at 80 entries per race! that number is way up from years past! awesome!
now onto the good stuff:
novice stock;
mr. hurricane brought the little hurricane down from jacksonville to take a hard fought win. nice run katelyn kent (katelyn proved you can look good and win r/c races) go figure. finishing on the same lap and less than half a second behind was mark lee followed by steve schowiak and MTR young gun tadpole! great job!
10th stock:
MTR legend mike dispenza shocks the crowd with a nice run to take the win followed by bob lee (the other brother) and jeremy kent. this race was filled with jacksonville racers and was stolen by a west coast racer, lol. nice run guys!
pro stock:
the pro stock class had a new entry or two. tom marlowe and harold(the mouth) briley tried to show they have what it takes to run with the big dogs.
but this race was tom pedano's to lose. tom was TQ and the race winner finishing on a lap of his own! tom was followed by billy bruce and tony padilla.on a side note scott(the human calculator)fillingham is starting to run some better lap times and his hard work and lot's of practice is showing on the track. nice job fellas
sportsman 19 turn:
shocking the field and coming out of retirement is the fireman himself steve(the hose)olson. steve ended a perfect year for greg walsh who was undefeated in the sportsman series. bud(the enemy)johnson took a hard fought third in his new dark side car. way to go guys!
brushless 4300:
this class has had three different winners could race four see yet another new winner? this was the dave and dave show...dave puliafico was TQ and the race winner, followed by dave butts and ronnie hames. those three guys are all just a point or two apart and all of them have won at least one focar race this year! the points are super close and this will be decided at speedline race number six i'm sure! side note: I allowed a friend who runs in the fsear series to run my car in brushless. He had the car to beat and the best equipment under the hood, but he couldn't seal the deal and wound up mid pack in fith place! you can lead a horse to water....well you all know the rest!
12th scale 19 turn:
the pocket rockets were back in force for race number four with 16 entries. could anyone beat the master mike bean? this was beans home track and come hell or high water he was not going to be beatin this day! mike finished on a lap of his own and took TQ homors as well! suprise local brian roebuck stole second place from joe mama who took third. side note: another fsear racer drove up from the deep south to take fourth place his first time running oval in a long time. congrats hector!
sprint car:
sprint car saw 6 entries with ocala hot shoe kip ellerbusch taking the win by three laps over second place chris brimmer and carl ross. this race had a few bad wrecks that took out half the field early. nice job guys.
factory 19 turn:
this class is the largest class by far with 27 entries and is always hard fought.
last years focar cup winner mike boylan was back to defend his race title with a vengance!mike was TQ and the race winner finishing on his own lap with a blistering 48 lap run! local racer rich boehmler took third followed by troy(i got ripped) merideth in third.rounding out the top five ...dave puliafico was fourth and MTR local gene connell was fith! the racing was close all day and i didn't see much give and take in the qualifiers or any of the mains. this is unusual for a focar event...was it racing under the lights that made everyone forget to lift? let's see what race five brings us...
hard charger winner: billy bruce he was dead last going into round three and made the A with a tough run!
dark cloud award: ray macduffie don't ask and i won't tell
custom works car kit winner: hector garcia WOW!
