hello everyone,
I have a tmaxx and i am looking to upgrade to a .18 engine. i was wondering what would be the the best engine (one that is powerfull and holds its tune well) and were i can find it cheapest. also what would be the best offroad pipe. thanks in advanced.

Get the OS .18TM with the Fantom pipe. you will not be disapointed!
The TRX 3.3 would also be a good choise with the Fantom pipe.

Here is another really good choise:

OFNA PICO MONSTER .26

OFNA PICO .26

P/N:.OFN51223 Price: $199.99

This engine gives new meaning to the word overkill. There is no substitute for displacement. At almost 40% more volume than a conventional .21, massive torque and horsepower are finally available for your T-MAXX OR REVO!

Direct replacement for T-maxx.. REVO needs motor mount.#51531

it is available at:

I was thinking of the os and fantom pipe too. Do you think the .26 would be to much power for a tmaxx without a streched chassis and if not how fast do you think it would go

My buddy has the Picco .26 and it runs great in the MAXX, he has upgraded to the MAXX 3.3 tranny with the wide ratio gear set. It will do 50mph (thats my guess) It is faster than my Revo with OS .18TZ. My truck is a track only truck so you can't really compare. He bashes and races now and then but it runs great with the .26. It was a little hard to drive untill the addition of the 3.3 tranny. More over all power than the 3.3 or the OS

You can get a mono block extension for your chassis from unlimmited engeering for $60 well worth the money with the extension and a prioperly set up truck you can be very competive with Revo's.
here is the link:

you can use one of you axles to make a rear shaft our buy the cvd from them.

Iwould love to do the mono block extention but i have a RC-Solutions roll cage that has saved my truck from some damage several times and i dont want to get rid of it.

I am a racer so I would ditch the rollcage, a .060 body will protect almost as good as a cage. I used to have one for my Revo until I got really into the race thing. I am sure a local weld or machine shop could extend your cage.

I cant and dont really want to race. I am more of a basher so i thought i could buy a cyber maxx kit or yes i could get the cage extended. also if i did get a picco .26 engine would i need to upgrade any of the stock tmaxx driveline (it was a .15 upgraded to a 2.5r).

just pick up the robinson steel spur if you keep the stock tranny but I would highly recomend the 3.3 tranny and maybe a complete diff or two (just in case) from ebay, get the 3.3 maxx diff they have added some screws to keep the housing from flexing. oh and keep a spare rear drive shaft.

or should i build a tranny out of all robinson racing stuff. as for the diff I thought maybe a supermaxx.

heres what I am thinking: a cyber maxx kit, picco .26 engine, 3.3 tranny or robinson tranny(what do you think is better), and a 3.3 diff or supermaxx diff(again what do you think is better.

does that sound good. finally what would be the best bulkhead(rc-solusions, integy, rpm, ect.). thanks again i know i have been a pain

wow I didn't know you were talking that kind of cash!! I think that you can't go wrong with the 3.3 tranny. gearing possibilities, a slipper that works and parts availability. as far as the diff goes the supermaxx diff is the best thing out there but very pricey. I would start with the 3.3 diff and see how long they last because you can get a complete unit for $20 or less.

explain your third sentence please
that sounds a lot cheaper which is always good.

I just thought of something if i got the cyber maxx kit i would have to get a special engine mount for any direct replacement or stock engine. so that gives me a wide variety of engines to chose from. then again i wouldnt be able to use the stuff on my engine right now. I would have to buy new stuff.

They go for less that $20 all the time! The 3.3 diff is also sealed so you can put silicone in it to tune to your liking.

what I mean with gearing possibilities is that there are three different internal gear sets available as well as the standard spur and clutch bell. The slipper on the 3.3 tranny can be set loose for slippery track conditions or to protect your gears from hard landings with the power on with out fear of melting your spur. The slipper has pads similar to the brake pads on your full size car and it has vanes to pull cool air across the slipper to keep the temperature down. And parts availability the parts should be on the shelf rather than have to wait on a special order type basis.

thank you
do you think i should stick with the picco .26 or go with another engine. also what bulkheads should i use. and if i got upgraded axles do you know of any that are good that would work for an extended chassis.

Go with the Pico .26 and the stock bulkheads and a RPM skid plate. stick with the stock or 3.3 axles and knuckles. The CVD axles wear too quickly, I have recently went back to the stock axles on my Revo after two sets in less than one race season wore out.

badassrevo

it is a bolt in swap, if you want reverse you will need the optidrive if not pick up a forward only kit and your done. you will need the clutch bell from a 3.3 maxx
