I use the cheapest corded drill I could find at Wal-Mart. It doesn't have to have a particular amount of power, just the ability to hold a drill bit about the size of the rivet (a little bigger or a little smaller is no biggie). Alternatively, i could use my $80 Dremel set. Both get the job done. For reattachment, I would recommend some sort of super-glue with a brush on applicator. Hope that helps. :)

dremel ,corded,or cordless drill works just fine, just be sure your bit is sharp.
Just be careful cause when you start to go through,it'll sometimes catch and spin the car in your hand.(or buzz straight through the back window.):p
...sometimes,with a dremel,on plastic based hotwheels,I like to use a thin, diamond tip bit and dance neatly around the rivet.
It is quicker than snot.
Usually,I drip 2 part epoxy in the remaining crater for re-assembly.

As A1 said, brand is not important.
Personally, I use a regular variable speed hand drill. Any pistol grip hand drill, but variable speed is a must for me.
I don't use a Dremel, Ryobi, or any other rotary tool, for drilling the cap off the rivet.
I've got 4 Rotary tools hanging on my bench but they're all for other parts of the car.
The Variable speed hand drill coupled with an 11/64 bit, preferably Dewalt pilot point, is best for this first step of disassembly. If you can't get a Dewalt Pilot point in 11/64, get a split point in 11/64.
The Variable speed option allows you to spin off the Mushroom cap of the rivet without losing control of your drilling speed.
As you see yourself coming close to removing the rivet cap, you can slow down and squeeze in short bursts.

I just use my dremel with a 1/8 bit cause its handy, but as everyone is saying, basically anything you're comfortable with

I use my trusty old cordless craftman drill to drill out the rivets. I've never tried using my rotary tool for that job...probally because I can fit a bigger bit in my drill than in Mr. Roto for that job.
