dancingd 07-02-2006, 03:32 PM Talked with Dave and there is nothing he can do to stay there...:(
R/CTechGirl 07-02-2006, 07:03 PM Dave we know you did what you could and we are behind you if you need us.
Being the stubborn person I am, I'm not ready to give up. In an attempt to keep RC Speedway Alive, We are currently looking for a location in the Central Maine area to relocate the track. Dave has graciously offered for us to use the track "if we can successfully move it", the lap counting system, and the intercom system "if" we can find a location to move it to. I as well as a few others are looking for something affordable to rent. What we want to do is form a Race Club which should enable us to raise the money needed to rent a space with at least 40' x 90'. (Large enough to put the banked track)
As soon as we find something affordable, I will let everyone interested know what the Club Membership Fee would be. In order to make this happen, we will need a certain number of members to assure all the monthly obligations are met.
I may be shooting for the moon here, but "What the Hell". If anyone knows for sure they would be interested in becomming a member they can just send me an email so I can start to get an idea how many people we're looking at. You can email me at CaseyBegin@verizon.net
Dave would of course would be a free lifetime member
If by some chance this all falls together, we'll have more races to come on Daves Banked Track.
cbegin 07-02-2006, 07:05 PM Once again my Daughter stayed logged in, so I posted under her ID. She's up for sale by the way..... Dennis, you interested?
dancingd 07-02-2006, 07:26 PM NO!!!!!!!!!!
I will try looking on line for some rental space...
bud3738 07-03-2006, 10:32 AM Hope you guys can find something........Cant Imagine with rents today what the cost would be to a club of racers....(then factor heat..electric..Insurance)....I hate to see
any track close......Wish you well in your venture..........
cbegin 07-06-2006, 09:46 AM Just wanted to let everyone know, I believe I found a new location for the track. The ceilings are low but it seems big enough for a nice pit area as well as the area for the track. I'll need Eben to come take a look at the building on Friday to see if it will work. It has a rest room and also has a location we could put concessions. The best part is, it's only about 5 minutes from the old track and it may be affordable enough for us to use and sign a 5 year lease.
I'll keep you updated when I know a little more. Wish me luck! :dude:
dancingd 07-06-2006, 09:50 AM Yes Casey good luck...
I hope every thing works out
J-Dub Racing 07-07-2006, 10:51 AM This is very sad news. I hope you can get something worked out Casey.
cbegin 07-07-2006, 02:01 PM I'm planning on taking Eben over to have a look today in order to see if the building can house the track. From the measurements I took, it looks like it will work. If Eben says it looks good, I will talk to the others tonight and see if everyone is willing to pitch in for the club. Once we get everything moved, we will attempt to sell concessions and possibly parts to generate some income and take a chunk off the monthly fee. Maybe Dave will be willing to help us out in that department by giving us some direction.
I don't want to make any promises but, I'll do everything I can to make all this happen.
dancingd 07-08-2006, 05:39 PM Casey, did you and Eben have a chance to check out the building last night????
Yahoo#1 07-08-2006, 05:59 PM I would like to thank Dave for all the good racing and friendship over the years. I have raced with Dave for 15+ years and hope that Caseys deal works out so we can race with Dave in the years to come. Casey you have my support and I will do whatever I can to help. I will try to stop at the offroad track in Portland and talk to Ryan Pablo about what they do as a club and pass the information on to you.
Now Casey do you still want that trophy :D or do you want the motor?
Name for a club? Central Maine R/C Racers Still keeps Daves track name?
See you friday night Bill
dancingd 07-08-2006, 07:03 PM Bill,I know that Casey will do his best to try and get another track together for you racers...Sorry that I live so far away...
cbegin 07-08-2006, 07:05 PM Hey all! I went over to the new building with Eben. He thinks the building will work fine. We will need to make the track a little shorter (about 10 feet) and the corners a bit sharper in order to narrow it down a bit. Aside from that, it will work in the other building. The good news is, We're keeping it banked! I think we may be able to bank it a bit steeper so we can keep it FAST.
I spoke with a few of the racers on Friday night and most are willing to join the club. I am going to work out the details with my uncle as far as rent etc.
We talked about racing next Friday, but decided to begin dissassembling the track. So, starting next Friday evening, we will be tearing down the track. It is a huge project and anyone who can make it over to help, would be more then welcome. We need all the help we can get. BYOS "Bring Your Own Screwguns"
The new track will take about a month to assemble if everything goes as planned. I want to thank everyone in advance for their help.
Hope to see you Friday ready to work.
YAHOO#1, I'll take one of each please.

Looks good....
Casey..pm
J-Dub Racing 07-08-2006, 08:51 PM Wow that sounds great. I remember putting that track down, you will need more than a screwgun to get it up. We used a buckshot "thing" to nail it into the cement floor. When you take it up be sure not to mess up the paint it took me a long time to paint it. Good luck!!!

Yahoo#1 07-10-2006, 12:45 PM Yes Anchor you are #1 , no I have NEVER finished ahead of you, BUT what if I had run 19T Pro in April? I know we will never know but who asked for the set-up? Now we can try again because I plan on being at Maximus on the 29th with my C/W car unless there is a party for my nephews 18th birthday.
cbegin 07-10-2006, 05:36 PM We will attempt to salvage the old carpet. There is a small amount of spare carpet but I'm not sure how much there is or how good it is.
omnis85 07-10-2006, 05:54 PM where can i get carpet?
cbegin 07-10-2006, 08:15 PM I don't know where they sell that carpet. I'm not sure on the spacifics of what type of carpet they use. I'm sure someone out here can answer that. :freak:
NHOvalRacer 07-10-2006, 10:05 PM I believe calandra if your going to get the ozite, I'm sure some racers will donate some $$$ to get the better stuff. I think they had office carpet before, let me know I have a buddy of mine who owns a carpet company, and I can get cost on it. What will the cost be on being a club for the members? Let me know, I might have a few connections on the financial part of it. Thanks.

cbegin 07-14-2006, 03:06 PM Thanks All! I'm sure we're going to need some advice here and there when it comes to getting this place going. I'm considering putting in a hotline "RED Phone" directly to Maximus. We will start tearing down tonight. It's probably about 95 degrees in there. :drunk: Anyone that's comming to help should probably bring extra shirts so you can change. Especially you Bill caus I'm putting you to work. :D
cbegin 07-15-2006, 03:07 PM Last night we got 3/4 of the track dismantled. We worked for about 5 hours and it was about 92 degrees in there. I want to thank everyone that came to help. We will be working on Tuesday evening at 5PM and again on Friday to make the big move over to the new building.
Anyone that can make it Tuesday or Friday night would be welcome. You guys worked your butts off but I think when it's all said and done, it will have been well worth the effort.
Anyone interested in becoming club members can contact me at caseybegin@verizon.net The member fee will be $60 a year. All members will have lowered racing fees as well as a say in many of the decisions regarding the club such as motors, batteries used, track rules, as well as prefered pit spaces. Any and all suggestions are welcomed.
The membership fee will help to cover track insurance, building utilities, as well as other expenses needed to get up and running. I hope to lower the fee after the first season when we have our feet on the ground. We will also be selling food and beverages. The proceeds will go toward track upgrades.
THANKS AGAIN!
dancingd 07-15-2006, 04:43 PM Oh no I was planning on coming up next Friday to race...Just kidding,I need to work next Friday night anyway..:(
