can any body tell me if im chasing my tail. after i fixed the sticking rings problems i was installing the coil pack spinning the motor by hand . the there was no spark. after testing i bought a new coil. new coil installed holding spark plug wire in hand spinning motor with other hand, slight spark felt. chuck engine up in a drill and ran wide open with spark tester on pulg, no spark. cleaned the flywhell with wire brush and checked gap from flywheel to coil. all checks out ok. what is going on here. why do i feel a spark at very slow speeds and nothing a normal speeds. help!

I take it you are holding the hi tension wire in your hand and grasping the flywheel with your other hand and turning it. Are you turning the engine by hand, or with the rewind starter cord. If you are turning by hand, you would probably never get spark, as you need to make a snappy jerk on the starter cord to get spark. As much as 300 or more rpm. Back to block one. Make sure that the base of the coil, where it bolts to case is wire brushed clean or you have a poor ground. Now set you mag to flwwheel clearance. Remove the small kill wire from the slide on clip on the mag. Make sure the plug is good, more at new. Now give her a good jerk on the pull starter and see what happens. Is this is a magnetron coil ??????? If not whole nother ball game

this is a magnetron coil. i can feel a surge when spinning the flywheel with my hand.I riged up a way to run the engine wide open off a corded drill . thats where the problem is the tester ,installed from the coil wire to the block ground , is not showing any spark jumping the gap. The spark plug is not even install in the head . all ground contact points are bare metal. the block it self is not grounded as it is sitting on the bench. I dont know if that makes any difference. and this is a bran new out of the box coil. why do i get all the weird problems.
