View Full Version : 2006 Ovalmasters
Mike Russell 06-28-2006, 02:19 PM As it stands right now,the future of Sandhills Raceway is uncertain. Because of that the Ovalmasters has been moved to Greenville RC Speedway in Greenville,Tennessee on Novenber 3-5,2006. Greenville has a very nice flat carpet track with more than enough pit space. Many thanks to Alan for allowing us to use his track which will allow sufficient time to work on the future of Sandhills.
Once again Hyperdrive has signed on as title sponsor of the event and many of last years sponsors are renewing for this year. Our new webpage is now up so look for updates in the next few weeks. Entry form and class info should be up by August 1st. www.ovalmasters.com (http://www.ovalmasters.com)
Last years race was an excellent event and this year should be no different. Anyone needin information can contact me at Ovalmasters@alltel.net
Thank you for your support
Mike Russell

FASTLEFT1 07-10-2006, 01:21 AM Mike , When will the future of Sandhills Raceway be decided? Is it going up for sale or will one of the Family members keep it going? Just would like to know what our future in R/C holds for those of us that travel 6 Hours to run. Thanks, AL
Mike Russell 07-18-2006, 02:37 PM The Ovalmasters website is going to be down for about a week. We are moving everything to a new host and webmaster. Until then go to http://greenevillercspeedway.com/ for info on the Ovalmasters.
brian0525 07-18-2006, 02:46 PM Go to the Greeneville site and vote on the poll they have for what class you will be running or hope to run for the Oval Masters.
Alan has a great track and competition on a weekly basis that would match any in the country.
Don't miss this great event!!!
Allan A 07-24-2006, 08:16 AM We are going to have warm up race on Sept the 30th. This race should be a lot of fun.

Will the purple endbell handout monsters be legal?
brian0525 07-28-2006, 02:05 PM Alan I hope that it is just a mistake that the Novak GTB isn't listed for speedos for 4300 brushless.
I am also reading right that no other stock motor except the monster will be legal?
dave w 1 07-28-2006, 02:13 PM i hope the supply of monsters gets better by then everyone is out of them?
Mike Russell 07-28-2006, 02:33 PM Brian........that is mistake. I guess I forgot to list it. I will make that correction. The GTB is OK
dave w1....The motor may change..I will know for sure in the next two weeks. If it doesn't chane, the green can 40 laminant motor will be the only legal motor
PUF19 07-28-2006, 02:43 PM any reason why not any roar legal stock?
Mike Russell 07-28-2006, 02:50 PM PUF......we are trying to get everyone on the same base motor without using handouts.
Humpty 07-28-2006, 04:00 PM I guess your home .....Oldman....How was Vacation....
erock1331 07-28-2006, 09:05 PM we used the green can bring your own Monster's last year and it worked out great. Eliminated the need to tech for 5 diff arms.
Sonny B 07-28-2006, 09:22 PM I use the bring your own Novak 4300 motor, works out great...
Looking forward to my first trip to Greenville for the masters.
Tommy Boy 07-28-2006, 10:58 PM At least we know this far in advance. I think its a good decision as long as they stick with the decision. I hate those last minute changes. It's been announced as the rule, so we can live with it. We're all on the same page then. Announcing this early also gives everyone a chance to find a motor. Arms are still available for like $10 and if you need a can, I got plenty.
brian0525 07-28-2006, 11:08 PM Same here I will be there if someone needs some ponies I got a few cause I will also be running the bring your own 4300 motor..lol
Mike Russell 07-31-2006, 01:45 PM The new website is up now at http://www.oval-masters.com/Class rules and schedule is now posted and we will have the entry form up sometime this week.
J-Dub Racing 07-31-2006, 05:07 PM I plan to make my first trip out to Greenville R/C speedway for the oval masters. Got a few questions though. What are the accomodations around in the area? Also what type of turnout do you expect. I honeslty have never been to a race that has been spread out over 3 days. Just trying to get myself setup for a great weekend.
Thanks
Joel White

let me give alittle input on this Allan and his staff runn a top quality show. the place is the perfect rc track. it is real close to snowbirds. what i found with the track is traction is awesome. how you drive the track is pretty close to snow birds but not exact. the fast way is to stay off the ice and run right up to the wall. bottom line this place is awesome!!!!!
Allan A 08-01-2006, 10:12 PM Kenwood;
The track is 85 x 36, run line is approx 160'.
Hutt;
Mike is working on the entry form. It should be up on both websites before long.
Dave;
I appreciate the kind words. hope you all can make it back up for some racing this fall.
Kenwood 08-02-2006, 07:49 AM Awesome.. sounds close to home.. cant wait for this one..
bolognarc 08-02-2006, 09:25 AM My son & I drive over 2 hrs most every weekend to race at Greeneville. You won't find a better track or quality racers anywhere!
John Tag 08-03-2006, 08:07 AM Looks like I might get back into Oval this fall. Seeing my local touring track is same distance as this track and I feel this might be a nice track to race. I'm looking for a addy so I can get exact mapquest and was wondering what the popular classes were there and also about when the indoor season starts there..

Allan A 08-12-2006, 10:46 PM I have been getting some questions about pitting. We will be able to pit approx the first 100 entries track side. we can pit another 150 in connecting rooms of the building. Some have ask about bringing pit trailers, we have plenty of paved parking, but you will need generators for trailers.
Pit assignements will be based on postmarks on entry forms.
Thanks for the entries and inquires.
ALLAN A

huttravis 08-20-2006, 09:03 PM in 19t are the c2's alowed(i.e.truespeed), i know there arcor approved just im not sure if they are roar approved
Carpet Assasin 08-20-2006, 09:39 PM Mike,
I want to reserve some pit spots for the Lierh's and myself. Can I do that with you, or should I contact Allen? I seen that it's based on postmarks from the entry signups, I just wanted to try and get us all together.
Thanks.
Mario
Mike Russell 08-21-2006, 07:16 AM The C2 motor is not legal for the Ovalmasters.
Mario,
Need to get in touch with Allan. He's taking care of aasigning pit areas.
thanks
Kenwood 08-21-2006, 08:28 AM Mike what about in Open mod?? can a c2 open mod be used??
John Tag 08-21-2006, 08:58 AM Mike for stock is the Monster still the class motor or is the CO27 being thought of as a replacement since soo many are going to those.. Thanks see ya soon..
Mike Russell 08-21-2006, 09:33 AM Kenwood.......Mod has no motor restictions except "No Hybrids or brushless"
Kenwood 08-21-2006, 09:36 AM Awesome because All i have are c2 mods...LOL.. :dude:
Mike Russell 08-21-2006, 09:47 AM Upon further review......the Cobalt-2 19turn is ok for the Ovalmasters. Sorry for the confusion
Mike Russell 08-21-2006, 04:19 PM It seems that between now and November there may be a shortage of Monster Horspower stock motors. because of that we have ammended the Stock class rules to include the Epic CO27 motor.
huttravis 08-21-2006, 06:12 PM cool im gonna run stock then, love my co27's i jus cant figer out a monster....
John Tag 08-21-2006, 08:23 PM Thanks Mike....
captain11 08-22-2006, 07:22 PM Are there any pictures of the track.
