I just read a post on MCCH Forum and according to David Tilley, he has "confirm(ed) that these 3 models...."

#2 (FORD) SVT LIGHTNING,
#16 1965 SHELBEY COBRA 427S/C, and
#69 LONDON TAXI

"are all chase models for batch J. Yes, that's right, 3 models out of the 12 will be found in two different colors 50/50 split during the production run. The other color to each is the one shown on the artwork."

Here are pics of those cars to illustrate those color "chase models".

Oh Well...

I am not so sure that I am looking forward to this many chases in one batch, how ablut you?

25% of the range are chase cars? Not cool...the Cobra's the only one I really like though.

I think with a 50/50 split it's not too bad. It's not too hard to find but gives us something to look for.

It gives more of a chance of finding a chase car, but also dilutes the market with too many. I like being able to find chase cars, but overall, I think this is not so good.

So how many chase cars does that make for '06? Aside from the Boxter and the Scion, these three would make five. Are there chase cars in any of the other released batches? This would more or less follow the path of the "Treaure Hunt", with 12 chase cars a year.

I thought I was all set, having found both versions of the Boxter and the Scion this week. As I'm a collector of the Taxi and the Cobra, they would definitely be on my want list.

I have the chase Taxi by accident. :) I love it. I found at TRU awhile ago when I bought my Zingers 5 pak.

I dunno, I'm not really a dedicated MB collector, but I think the term "chase" vehicle is not really appropriate for a 50/50 paint color difference. I guess you have to call them something but unless all the cars in one color go out west, and the other color goes out east, they should be plenty easy enough to find, not really warranting a "chase" to get them.

Hoarding these isn't going to make anyone rich, and I'm sure good collectors will pick up extras for others that can't find them. It might help make the hobby better by facilitating trading between collectors. Well it's a thought anyway.

I agree. I think of them more as variations to collect rather than chase cars to hunt down...

Well said. It doesn't matter what color or how many. I want all the Superfasts and so far, so good. :p

I am with you po. I found the Ambulance today hanging in Wally World along with some more CARS from the Movie Cars. The ambulance is the one with the shiny bumpers and trim. Now all I have to do is get the other ones in the mail from Art at Renodiecast early next week. Post a scan later on, olesarge90/Gill

So here I sit at work today onboard ship wishing I was home because it's my tenth anniversary with the wife. Add to that I have overnight duty tomorrow. I get a phone call from the wife who says to me, "I found some of those "Superfast" cars you are always looking for." So I ask the question as to which ones and she replies, "A Cobra, Ford GT and a Taxi." Then she said, there were two different colors of each and since I didn't know which ones you have already, I bought all of them. :)

Yep, she's all mine and I'm keeping her. She's even going to Lightning Fest with me.
