Kicks major Butt!

Looks like it could be good, but with the Sandman, The alien suit/venom (Topher Grace) and Harry Osborn becoming the Green Goblin may just be a bit of overkill. One of the strengths of the Spider-Man movies has been limiting the villian fest. I really hope they pull it off though. Done right it, could almost be like when I was a kid reading the supersize annuals. Too bad it won't be 25 cents though.

If the trailer is any indication, it looks like the focus will be on the symbiote, with the Venom side of things left for film 4.

Looks like it, but it seems that there will be an awful lot of stuff going on. I hope the storytelling will be sufficient to get it all sorted so that it's not a mish mash. I'll be happy to see it and hope for the best :)

I can see this happening if:

They use the Sandman as the "opener"...jump right into action with Spidey.

Then have the symbiote join with Spidey and he starts changing...maybe even nearly killing Harry.

Have him turn against it ... and have it join Brock (although I have the suspicion it will be JJ's son instead)

Then have Spidey need to "team up" or ally himself with Harry to defeat Venom...I'm sure Harry would have some sort of sound weapon in his arsenal. That of course will go horribly for Harry and he will get away even more angry at Pete than before while Spidey "finishes" Venom.

Leaving Harry and Pete to fight again in 4...you could even have the sym find Eddie Brock right at the end too.

Just the first idea that went through my head.

I get the sense that Venom won't be a major player in this film. If we see him at all, it will be near the end and will probably just be played as a tease for the fourth film. In the trailer, there's a couple of clips where we see Spidey stripping off the black suit; that scene is set in what looks like a bell tower; wouldn't that be straight from the comics as how Peter Parker finally sheds the suit?

Depends which origin you want to believe.

When Pete originally got rid of the symbiote, he did it at the F4's place with the help of some kind of sonic gun they conveniently had. The symbiote escaped from the F4's lab and attempted to re-join with Peter. Thatt was when he made is way to the bell tower to get rid of it again, at which point the symbiote made its way to Eddie Brock and they became Venom.

This is fun, I figure the Hobgoblin/Harry will show up much like the end of 2, After the Dust (or Sand) has settled and Spidey has defeated Sandy and Venom,as he's catching his breath and embracing Mary Jane (or Gwen lol) Suddenly the Skies will part and like the last Panel of the old Comics,Hob will Fly out and say something like "You May Have Destroyed Them Spiderman But You Won't Stop HOBGOBLIN" MUHAHAHA....Well Sumptin like that then ya' have the built in teaser for 4 huh? Huh? not bad eh? lol

^ Nah, there's a brief glimpse where it looks like Harry crashes into a building, implying he and Spidey are fighting.

Ah yeah that's right BTW I didn't see that Ghost Rider Preview,Instead we got some Bible Movie coming for Christmas. Darn I wanted to see that.

That's how it originally started, with Spider-Man getting an "alien suit" in black with a "continuous" white spider symbol, in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars back about 20 or so years ago. It made its' first "regular" appearance in Spider-Man #252 (I remember running around all over the Western 'burbs of Chicago on a Saturday afternoon/evening hunting several copies of that issue down).

Then, the darned thing turned out to be a lifeform with its' own agenda......

I wonder how they're going to handle the black suit in this film, with no Secret Wars storyline to use as the engine to drive this plot point.

As long as it makes sense, I'm happy. I'm not worried about continuity with the comics.
