Pardon the repost. I posted this in another forum and got just 1 response. He suggested I repost here...

I have always been a causal HW collector but I have recently toyed with the idea of working on a set of 1968 Hot Wheels for a display.

I've poked around a little bit on EB and looked at some so-called "Price Guides" but I thought there might be some folks here with input on real world prices.

If a person were to try and assemble a collection of each of the sixteen 1968 HW releases, not caring about specific Spectraflame colors and only worrying about condition to the extent the car is displayable (maybe VG-EX), what do you think it would cost to assemble such a collection?

I certainly am not worried about variations or rare items – just one of each model in decent enough collection to show in a display case.

Any input is appreciated!

I would say you would be looking at around $350.00-$400.00 for all maybe more. If your looking for nice ones and rare ones you would be looking at about $800.00-$1,000 a car. I am not a total expert so If I were you I would go over and ask on www.redlinesonline.com message board. I only have 1 1968 redline and its a common one the beatnik bandit and those go for around $15.00 each. If I were you I would try and stick with the 1969 models and later untill you got tons of extra cash to buy the 68' models. Have a good one.

Thank you!

I applied yesterday for a "membership" to that board. Still waiting to hear back for approval.

Check your old post in the Hotwheels fourm. I'm not sure if I can like the post.

Keith

Here's the link to the above mentioned fourm.
