In 1977 Universal issued these Mighty Wings planes.

This is the Hong Kong manufacturer founded by David Yeh that would take over Matchbox in 1982.

The Corsair and P-40 Flying Tiger are larger and more detailed than the Spitfire. The Concorde SST has a lithographed tin plate upper body, which is very unusual for a die cast toy, especially a fairly small one.

Hello Tone,
I have to ask...
Is the runway that Concorde sits a tin litho metal toy also?
I had something like that when I was a kid called "Voice Control Kennedy Airport". It came with several plastic 707 jetliners.

Is/was this Universal company part of (or a offspring of) Zylmex?

I'm curious.

Thanks

-Peter

Exactly!

This runway board is a play-worn example that I saved all these years from my original Remco JFK set.

I also have a set with the original box, but that is stored away.

I do not think that Universal and Zylmex were ever connected.
Kimmo, D Weber and Mark F, in their book, list the following Universal associates:
See Agglo, AMSI, A-OK, Cragstan, Dinky, East West Distributors, E.F.S., Elmar, Faie, Gibbs, Gordy, Harris, Imperial, Ja-Ru, Kidco, Larami, LB Champions, LJN, Lucky Lam, Matchbox, Myco, Newman Importing, Nucor, Rose's, Soma, T G & Y, UDC, Uniborn, Wheeler, WUL, and Zellers
