I have a 15hp Kohler Commander engine from a Sears rider. It would always start on the sears, but I finally had to junk the Sears as the mower deck was shot as was the transaxle. I ketp the engine and all the wiring for the engine.
I have been trying to getthe engine to run as I would like to use it for another project I am working on. I think it won't start because of the safety modules the were in place when it was on the Sears.
Can anyone help me get this engine to run? I know it is a good engine as I took very good care of it and don't want to throw it away.

Shouldnt be any problem, if you plan on putting it on another mower frame, just use the wiring thats on the frame you intend on putting it on,starter wire goes to starter from solonoid on new frame, kill wire is coming from coil on kohler engine to module on side of engine as well as chargine wire.

It did but now that I have it off the Sears and a bunch of wires, it will turn sometimes .

So, I don't need to worry about all those modules that were connected to the brake and mowerdeck lift. There are four wires that lead back to the engine. One whit, one green, one res and one yellow. They were all connected to safety modules and are in a square clip. I can just disregard those.

You can disconnect it but if the new mower has or had a different make of engine then you may need to splice some of the end connection from this wire harness to the new one.
You said that it turns over "sometimes" , try grounding the ignition switch.
