Hey guys, Does ACR in Tulsa have a website? If not can I get a phone number and do they have a hobby shop on site.

Thanks

Manning

ACR (actually "The RC Pit Stop") has an awesome shop. Well stocked with all kinds of stuff. The shop has been around for about 15 years, so there is a bunch of vintage stuff also.

the track forum:
http://www.okrcracers.net/

They race indoor carpet on-road and oval, off road, and dirt oval. Both nitro and electric outdoors. Good bunch of guys, and many are very fast....I haven't been over since the carpet went down....

There is a dirt oval in Joplin, indoors and pretty much nitro only. I understand the electric guys don't show up for some unknown reason...
http://www.geocities.com/mccluneysteve/ascotrcraceway.html

Supposedly "RC world" hobby shop in Joplin has an off road track (no oval that I know of) behind the shop. Never been there.

Supposedly a dirt oval track in Muskogee is or has opened. I know nothing else.....

There are a few off road tracks over here in NW arkansas, but since this is an oval forum, I won't bore anybody with those.......

I'm not sure the dirt oval in Joplin is still open.......They were open some time in May, last I heard......since they don't do electric, I haven't been.

Been working on a couple things and considering opening a flat oval and roadcourse track in Branson MO. Track will be the same specs as the SnowBirds, and will be a top notch facility... I have another business that I will be running out of the facility that will cover the overhead, So The rent will not have to rely on the track and Hobby Shop. Just knocking around some ideas, what do you guys think?

Matt Bayless
06-26-2006, 07:47 PM
If its ran properly and the carpet is good it should be ok. Its a good area . With track not all running right now it would be a good time to open so people from Springfield Mo. and Arkansas can come race and help get the word out . How is your local intrest in oval and road course ? If you get it up and going I would be a regular .

I think if Promoted and ran correctly it would go over well, I plan on having rental cars during the day for tourist, and try and have some special evets, I really think this area would be a good location for a large event, you know, they can bring the family , they can race and send the wife and kids off to do whatever... and the fact that we are centrally located, we should be able to draw off each coast...

Matt Bayless

Sticker dude rentals are a good idea but people who have havent raced the cars before like to go fast and have alot of wrecks and it could get very expsensive fixing all those broken parts . Just a thought . Plus you'd have to seprate them from the serious racers win it becomes race time . Couldn't run them together in the same heats it would be a mess .

Fastlane in Bluesprings Mo. is open on Saturdays . There phone number is {816} 220-0100 . Could be an option next week Leon .

Stickerdude
06-26-2006, 08:58 PM
Wouldn't dream of racing them, just track rentals during the day, after certain time, racers only, most of the tourist will be doing the show thing anyways after 5. Saturdays will be racers only... Just am afetrthought on the rental deal, but figured with the touist it may be a good way to add some income.

stickerdude - i raced sedan today at TPA hobby center in holister, there were 7 in 19T sedan and 8 in nitro sedan, one of the racers there mentioned that a hobbytown USA just opened in branson and supposedly someone is wanting to get racing started there....is that you?

Stickerdude
07-03-2006, 09:31 AM
No, thats not me, I visited the Hobbytown on Saturday, and mentioned to the owner that now all he needed was a track... he laughed it off. What I have in mind will be a 40' x 80' flat Ozite surface, and a fully stocked hobby shop with everything we need for the classes we run.. I am in a business that allows me to be on the inside with the shows and advertisers here in this area... I have mentioned it to a few and they are really excited about the possibilty and want to advertise with signage and free stuff to the racers. I want to get this place up and running, and then have a huge race... like a Snowbirds... The building we are leaning towrds has room for the track 200 pits, men and womens restrooms and a snack bar...

Come on a Thursday also if you can.

fivsomewhere..... He asked our opinions so I gave mine honestly . The questions I purposed to him were commonly asked ones I've heard at lots of tracks in my 20 plus years of rc racing. So to get the answers posted to these questions on his website will save him alot of headaches in the future . I wish him well in his adventure and just offer my help if needed . Whats your name so when he gets open I can meet you there and show you I am a realy nice person . I will bring you a cheeseburger and we can talk .

Wow. I didnt realize I directed my comment directly at you. Trust me this isnt his first foray into owning a track. He owned a very popular and money making track before. He flipped it for a nice profit just to have someone else ruin it with "THEIR" ideas. He knows how to run a track, he was just asking for ideas, NOT OPINIONS.

no one had any of this info and the posts by Stickerdude, never really let anyone really know the level of knowledge he was bringing into this venture.

Stickerdude did ask at the end of his post, "Check it out and let me know what you think." guess it comes down to interpertation:
are opinions expressed....what one thinks?
is what one thinks and expresses....ideas?
who knows?

anyway when is the opening date and the big event planned for? let's race!

It shows there is a good start for a following for stickerdudes track in the Branson mo. area . Anyway lets all just be nice we need no smack talking or bad mouthing here . We are trying to prmote tracks in these areas . Fivsomewhere what about your name ? Leon I got your side shock rebuilt .

Hey Guys, I'm sure no harm was meant. I did have a track in the past and it did well, It has been 3 or 4 years since I have been involved in the hobby though, so I do need input on what is working now. Things are definately moving forward with the track, and we have decided on a larger facility that will house a deli to be seperated by a plexi glass wall, people will be able to come and eat and watch the races... And it will be a great way to draw more people to the hobby. Paragon will be allowed, and right now it looks like at least 200 pits all with electric. I will scale down the classes, just want to have more than 1 oval class, I know 1/10 stock will be a definate, but there seems to be a split on 4300 brushless and 19 turn... this brushless deal has came along since I have been out of the hobby, so I don't know too much about it.... There is where some input is needed, along with the arcor verses ROAR deal... I only intend to do this on ahigh level, so that we will be able to get some big races, regionals, and maybe even National events. I believe this will be a great area for a track... It will just need some promotion, and since I do have a background in Marketing... That will be a plus. The key in the beginig will be getting new racers involved, so an inexpensive starter class I believe will be important... We all know there are very few people ready to sink $1500 to get started in a hobby, so I think we need to keep a Novice class within a $400 budget. I plan on doing alot of promotion in the begining with givaways, and maybe some parking lot demos with t/c's at some of the events here in Branson... All ideas I am knocking around, and your input would be apreciated.

Thank You,
Billy
