View Full Version : A plea for help.
Kenny Kaos 06-18-2006, 09:08 AM Hey guys, since my last question about the customs for the charity auction. I got ony one response. And he backed out.
Let me tell ya, if anyone knows what too busy is, your lookin at him. So I understand. Really I do, the only thing is... Well, It's not just me printing something up. I/We had to go through an aproval process just to get the idea through. Then once we got support, we really got support. We got our own Fest Variation Casting for the contest. You have to understand that this itself is an absolutely great act of kindness on the powers that be.
They EXPECT us to follow through... I emplore you PLEASE send me something...
If you don't have time to do one now, go through your previous Customs and wrap one up for charity, it's a good cause. The people at the ADDWC really appreciate and need every penny we send them.
Don't make me grovel... ;) help me out here, I'd love to fill an entire table with customs. So send me something will you guys, you have a chance to win a very limited variation on an already limied casting...
Thanks for the ear. kk
69Stang 06-18-2006, 04:59 PM Kenny,
I never responded to the call for customs, simply due to embearassment (sp?). I have been doing customs for years, but I can't hang with the guys on this site! My cars are nothing but simple repaints, tire swaps and added decals. But if something that simple can help, I will be glad to send something.
But again, one of mine would not bring any money, cause no one would want one! I am not being hard on myself, just honest. I love spending time with my toys, and I enjoy posting them here for all to see ( everyone is so nice and positive), but I don't think this is what you are looking for!
However, is it will help, you may have a car or two. Just PM me an address and I will get them off to you. Due to my wife's recent job change ( or rather the fact that her's is going away!) I will not be able to attend this year, even though it's only about a 12 hour drive. So I will not be able to see the work offered, but I would still feel a bit awkard to have a car setting with "real" customs.
So the point to this ramble....I to implor the true builders to get some cars in to you. If mine is all there is, we are in true trouble! Just let me know if you need me.
Thanks for your work on the auction and the charity. The mustangs are still some of my favorite cars this year!

plankowner 06-18-2006, 06:22 PM I'm here to help out as well. A couple of questions for you..... I built me a special little gravity racer. I want to offer it up for the charity auction after it races, win or lose. Can I do that? If so, can I bring my customs to the Fest and hand them over or do you need them mailed to you in advance? Thanks for the ear!

Dadvball 06-19-2006, 08:28 AM Mine are coming. I printed little info cards that I'll be laminating tonight or tomorrow. Just wanted to do a little extra.
I was sending four, but I'll see if I have any others.
Macs_Little_Car 06-20-2006, 06:12 AM You guys are all the best, any type of custom is worth submitting, it would still be better than empty space. I understand what you guys mean about submitting customs with people like KK and jnkflt around, but I do it every year. it may not be as good as theirs, but it is as good as i do and I am still proud of it.

Hi, just a quick note here. You do know that you cannot race in the gravity races with a modified car? You will be able to run in the Grudge Races/ET Races with anything you can get somebody else to race, but in the main Gravity Races, all the cars must be unaltered or modified... they have to be just like they came out of the blister

I do now..... :p Thanks for the heads up. After numerous testing sessions here at home going heads up with my three year old, it appears that my car is about as slow as a a brick on wheels. Must be because it is too heavy in the front. (Pics to follow) Time to find a new racer!
Macs_Little_Car 06-20-2006, 09:10 AM Actually its probably just that your 3 year old is a good racer!! :hat:

Macs_Little_Car 06-21-2006, 06:20 AM But one heck of a nice looking Spoiler!!!
plankowner 06-21-2006, 06:26 AM It's definitely a fun looking car. And while there wasn't much done to make it a custom, this one's going to Kenny for the customs charity auction.
rlyoung1 06-21-2006, 11:02 AM You will have something from me, probably not what Rob is expecting though.
;)
Things are leveling off here so maybe I can get back to my customs.
Mark Hosaflook 06-21-2006, 04:49 PM I have one for you Kenny.......I'm bringing it rather than mailing it.
Dude502 06-27-2006, 09:52 AM The one's I made will be box'd up an sent out VERY soon. I wasn't able to do anymore up, nor any other custom's, we all know 'ow the time gig can get outta 'and.
Big box on it's way soon KK.
Swifty 06-29-2006, 12:51 AM Kenny, I'll see what I can do also. At the moment, I'm a little short on good material to use. Not to mention most of my customs tend to fall into one of two categories: monster trucks or bangers/demo cars. I'll have to see if I still remember how to do something that isn't destined for destruction...
But again, one of mine would not bring any money, cause no one would want one! I am not being hard on myself, just honest. I love spending time with my toys, and I enjoy posting them here for all to see ( everyone is so nice and positive), but I don't think this is what you are looking for!
Oh, I guarantee if you send that Omni to be bid on, there will be at least one frantic bidder. My only problem is it'll probably go for more than I can afford!
Kenny Kaos 06-29-2006, 11:13 PM I certainly understand everyones busy schedule. I haven't had time to strip one down. I am however entering several Past winners for auction.. No matter how small you think your custom work is, someone may want to add it to their collection. After all, its now a one of a kind.
I look forward to seening everyones and yes you can bring them to fest with you.
You guys rock, and this is the inagural year to do this. If it goes good, maybe we will be able to put stuff togather all year long...
thanks again. kk
Dadvball 06-30-2006, 12:55 PM Kenny, I got mine mailed today. PO said you should get them on Monday.

plankowner 07-03-2006, 01:53 PM Mike, sorry but I no longer have mine either. It was broken off in the package when I bought it. That's what motivated me to put a bigger engine in it like this.

I collect all brands of diecast and I have a soft spot for the 024, so there's nothing wrong with HW or any other brand, either.
Also, I'd like to point out you do good work.
