I'm about out of my stash of CAM medium brushes from 15 years ago.....anybody know if they are still available? The Venom "longlife" brushes appear identical just from looking at them.....
They are awesome from a comm wear standpoint. Basically zero comm wear running full packs through mod motors. Love them for bashing and off road mod racing.....
Thanks in advance for any help.

Davepull, have you used the CAM mediums? Recently? Just curious. I'm amazed at the difference in comm wear between them and anything else.
I'm apprehensive about using a brush with ANY silver content in my practice motors, or the off road mods (motors where getting the last watt of power is not a concern). In my experience, silver = huge comm wear. And those XXX brushes are expensive....
Seems like all brushes have silver in them anymore. Seems like a conspiracy......silver brushes lead to comm wear, which leads to wearing out motors faster, which leads to more $$ for the motor companies. :(

Reedy 766 may be a good substitute for you.
If wear bothers you that much I have one word for you "brushless".

I recently bought some Orion Enduro brushes on eBay and they seem to be pretty easy on the coms. Orion says 20+ runs. I'm not sure if that means 20+ runs before the brush is worn out or before you have to cut the com, but these things seem to take forever to show any wear. Even their Sprint brushes (which I also bought) seem to be low wear. And indeed, they do not produce that last watt of power.
Added note: I just took a look at a motor I ran today. It is up to about an hour of runtime [offroad] on a 19T arm in a mod can with the Orion Enduro standup brushes and 24 degrees of timing. It looks like it could go another hour or two before needing a cut.

ta_man, Thanks for the tip on the Orion enduro brushes. They look very similar to the CAM mediums.....the description sounds good too. May have to get a few pair.
Haven't tried the Reedy 766's because I thought all of the Reedy brushes had some level of silver in them. Maybe I'll get a couple pair of them to try.
Pat C, I'd love to get a GTB/7.5 combo.....but it's just not in the budget at the moment. I'll have the $$ saved up about the time the outdoor off road season will end...darnit...

you'll be happy with the xxx brush then. I have been running the same pair for months. they have 20 plus runs on them. i cut the motor about every 3 runs just because that's the way i do it. not because the motor has fallen off. comm wear is very little I usually have to make one pass to clean up the comm.

OK, maybe I'll get a set of those to try as well.....so many choices now.... :freak:
