how do i seperate the engine block all input is helpful

On some engines the block isnt able to be removed because it is cast aluminum which means one part.

Others are seperate from the crank case and to loosen them you need to hit them with a rubber mallot to break the seal free than it will just slide straight up . (such as most snowmobile engines)

alright i broke loose the surface between the sump and the block by loosening the bolts and hitting the coners with a mallet, but i can't get the block to slide up the crankshaft and seperate the two peice how do i seperate it. Should i use alot of penetrating oil and let the engine sit a couple days with the oil soaking in at the spot where the crankshaft runs through

before attemting to slide shast through sump bearing clean shaft surface with steel wool emery cloth or garnet cloth.
