View Full Version : Time Tunnel Vol 2 & Others...
X15-A2 06-07-2006, 03:53 PM Just got back from Best Buy where I picked up "Wild Wild West" season 1 ($40 US), "F-Troop" season 1 ($33 US) and "Time Tunnel" Vol 2 ($33 US).
There won't be a shortage of TV entertainment at my place for quite some time!
heiki 06-07-2006, 04:04 PM Found Time Tunnel for $28.37 at Walmart. Made the local Fry's Electronics price match it cause I didn't want to burn the gas going to wallymart.
seaQuest 06-07-2006, 05:04 PM I thought Fry's was a West-Coast only retailer.
JamesDFarrow 06-07-2006, 05:55 PM How many seasons did F-Troop run?
James :)
JamesDFarrow 06-07-2006, 06:15 PM O.K. Never mind. Found it.
Season one (B&W) went for 34 episodes and season two (Color) went for 31 episodes for a total of 65 thirty minute episodes.
Not bad. At least it won't cost a fortune to get the entire show.
James :)

SQ,
They're expanding. We even have one in the Atlanta area now.
Mind you, ONE in the Atlanta area doesn't exactly make them a dominating force in consumer electronics sales here...

seaQuest 06-09-2006, 06:31 PM Very true. The chain started in the OC, and I know they were in Phoenix, but not "national."
We have an axiom about Fry's. If you know what you want, and can just go to the department and get it, you're golden. If you are in the dark, and ask the staff, they're kinda clueless.
And customer service? Fuhgeddabouddit! Their customer service serves Fry's above all else. Don't get me started on the Sony DVD/VHS combo I bought there........

Fry's in Indiana too!
heiki 06-14-2006, 12:46 AM Just got done watching the 2002 Time Tunnel unaired pilot.
I liked it!
If only they could have sold it...
Dave Hussey 06-14-2006, 07:29 AM Keep your eyes on your local Costco.
Here in Canada I picked up Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Volume I and Time Tunnel Volume I for $16.99 Canadian each back in April. Who knows - they may get copies of Time Tunnel Volume II at a similar price too.

Brent Gair 06-14-2006, 09:56 AM Regarding the 2002 Time Tunnel Pilot
SPOILERS AHEAD!
The TT Pilot was a perfect example of another show which had it's title stolen for a "re-imagining" that is entirely unrelated to the original.
As a stand alone show, it could have worse. Actually, I think they did sell the pilot but changed the series name to STARGATE because it has more incommom with that show.
The concept of the original is very simple: Two scientists lost in time. They never know where they will end-up or how they will extricate themselves from their situation.
The 2002 Pilot:
Toni Newman...beautiful blonde employee of the Depatment of Energy
Doug Philips...retired Marine
Forgetable Character One...a tough talking sista' from the 'hood. Her job is to intimidate or kill a team member who interferes with the mission. She pulls a gun on Doug.
Forgetable Character Two...some scrappy little guy who is good with his fists.
Forgetable Character Three...a big goonish military man.
This five man team is summoned for a specific mission where they are sent to a very specific place and point in time. They are briefed on the mission ahead of time. At the end of the mission. The team is returned to the present.
That evening, Doug Philips is home with his wife and kids and everybody is back to their day jobs.
This is nothing more than ANOTHER generic time time travel show. It could be a bad episode of Star Trek.
heiki 06-15-2006, 11:00 PM Brent,
I hope you had the time to see the show.
It looked like a "Safe" episode. Usual cookie cutter format and did not take alot of risks.
Sheila Allen herself and Ken Burns appeared to have gotten involved with this. They even "borrowed" some of the original theme music!
The idea that this was a hot fusion prototype which became a Time Tunnel when switched on was a little funny....oh the plot holes. I guess the magnets in your Spindrift could cause a time storm also!
Looks like they were hoping to explore history and correct things ala' StarGate but with the help of historical films and backlot sites
I'm glad we got to see this attempt at a reimaging of the old series. Guess they will try the same with "Land of the Giants" next.
