OvalmanPA 12-17-2002, 01:52 PM Paul that would be great if we could get another oldy but goody out there with us. The terminator type cars just seem to run right away from us but I've seen you drive so maybe it wouldn't matter. :D That should give you some extra incentive to get a 2wd ready to run with us, a little smack talk. LOL
K1M.....hold me up? Funny thing is we weren't really catching you much at the end of the run. I think it would have been REAL interesting if you wouldn't have had that bobble at the beginning of the race.
johnqpublic 12-17-2002, 02:26 PM You're right Rick...theoretically the Intimidators and Terminators should run away from the "off road" cars (but I can't seem to get my pile to outrun the truck class....probably some weird truck mojo there or something....but thats another story!). So, I think that if I ran that old Losi of mine the playing field might be a little more even, and therefore the racing better. If I ran an "oval" car that was 2 laps faster than anyone else, suddenly the class becomes less fun and more expensive!
I believe that Mr. Morgan should mix up the racing a bit in the 2wd stock class! According to the stats, Don would have given all of you guys a run for the $... but instead he was stuck with the whatzitz!:)
Paul... I am not an experienced driver... I am only in Production. BUT there is a little something that I must tell you. I believe in a clean race, and some rubbing is ok... God bless you for sticking it out in both heats and main!!! I would have been returning the favor of doing some serious damage to a select few (if you know what I mean)!!! Good driving & Great ability to stay calm & collected. Everyone knows I could use tips on that!
Am also will to accept advice on where I can get a new pit crew! HA!!!
Just don't tell canbquik!
johnqpublic 12-18-2002, 11:11 AM tville...I think I'll pass on the chassis. I may be changing chassis makes for the dirt season next year.
LLB: Thanks for the kind words. I dont think anyone was hacking on purpose. I've been there...its a competitive class with W-I-D-E vehicles and open wheels. Sometimes you lose track of your patience! I usually get more mad at myself for not being faster...I figure it's my fault that I'm in that situation in the first place! I'm just doing the truck deal for something to do....dirt oval is my first love, but a lot of guys (myself incl.) have some issues w/ the management of the only indoor track w/in driving distance. Smethport is close to home, so its nice. If you've ever read the forums on dirtoval.com, you probably know what I think about trucks racing on an oval  . Now that I see the car class is gaining some momentum and has some good racing, I'll throw something together and have some fun...soon the car class will be back to where it should be....2 laps faster than the monster trucks! LOL!!!
I dont recognize you by your screen name, but if you ever need any help...with driving tips, setup tips..whatever...dont be afraid to ask.
canbquik 12-18-2002, 11:20 AM hey 'ovalman'that really was a tight battle from the tone, a bobble from any of us would have changed it COMPLETELY! But we can all see who was the dominate one last week, & he wasn't in the A:wave:. hopfully paul gets a chance to bring another "Team Old Lo'" to the table. There's just not enough vintage warriors out there. Oh, by the way, I think all of us know what it is like to be the 'crewchief' so a little battery mix-up sometimes happens;) until next time....
johnqpublic 12-18-2002, 12:07 PM ....now I know who I'm talking to! :D
johnqpublic 12-18-2002, 02:28 PM Well, after some lunch-time rumaging, I think I have located all of the parts I need for the old 'war wagon'! Some new sneakers will be in order..a little body work...and she should be good to go!
What are you saying JohnQ, 68 laps? You guys better watch out...I got grease in my diff now!!
Team old Lo' RULES!
johnqpublic 12-19-2002, 08:31 AM Lets not put the cart ahead of the horse Kim. LOL! I think 68 is possible with a gearbox car....maybe even more. I always ran a locked diff and 1/4" to 1/2" of stagger (circumference) w/ my 'ol Losi trannys. I just hope that I can remember how to drive a car like that again! LOL!
OvalmanPA 12-19-2002, 09:02 PM Hey this is what I'm talkin' about. Finally, some action in our thread again and of course now I'm gettin' accused of fixing the starting lineup? :) 'Puter puts us where we lie folks when I set everyone at a "5" on ability. As you remember, a few weeks ago I was the one that got in with the slower cars. LOL It just happened that canbquik, K1M, and myself signed up before Donalbain, Randy, and Timmy. Donny had his chance in the second qualifier and I just beat him for that spot in the main (2 seconds). :p I'm just lucky he didn't have that main run in his second qualifier! LOL
Haha...........crewchief sucks most of the time. Always gettin' blamed for things. I was just told today what was going to happen if something happened to my partners diff this week. She got it apart and cleaned up but ran out of time and I put it back together. Oh well, I gots wide shoulders!
canbquik 12-20-2002, 02:11 AM :wave:good morning y'all.. could it be that 2wd is going to be the class to be in this year??? All I hope is that it doesn't get as competitive as the other classes, and that it stays at the 'run whatcha brung & pray it holds together 'til the main'.Anyway, quick question MR. OVALMAN, if you catch this can you let me know - 1.how wide are the pancar rear tires...-2.how much..also next week maybe I can join in on the conversation seeing how I'll be working days.CYL:thumbsup:
johnqpublic 12-20-2002, 08:23 AM I know I know! Pancar tires are 2" wide. The best part about em is that if you are careful, one rear donut will make 2 front tires!
Donalbain 12-20-2002, 01:05 PM First thing's first:
1. ...back at ya' CanBQuik!
2.Ovalman...you're a Deadman.
Now,
Great to see the Burrows! See you made it to the 1/18th room too. I recall that 2wd stock was a good class about 2-3 years ago. Hope it lasts the season. Was only puttin' around the track in the qualifiers, motor still wasn't right from the slam I took the week before. Two pinion teeth later and I was back in the hunt. I seem to wait till the main to make the change that makes the difference. I believe Tim is going to come around soon. Boy's got speed.
Got an idea,
Something to work in conjunction with the frequency clips. How probible is it to scrounge up a few recievers, crystals(rx), and wire them to a light bar? Idea being, if someone is on a channel (84), their Tx sends a signal picked up by their car & this device that promptly lights a bulb under/over the "84" channel tag indicating 84 is in use? Kinda like those Bingo # signs. Probley cost too much. Would need to make it AC.
LMK when you guys wanna go mod 2wd...
OvalmanPA 12-20-2002, 01:56 PM Haha.........it'll probably be me in the B this week Don. LOL
Chris.....I believe they are like Paul said, 2" but I'd have to measure to be sure. Depending on what you want, I believe I have Jaco greens that are $17.50 and TRC blues that are $16.50 (but don't quote me).
johnqpublic 12-20-2002, 02:17 PM Mod 2wd?....I'm there!
That's a pretty neat idea Donalbain! I think it could be done, I also think it would be expensive using individual recievers. What would be nice is when someone is having radio problems, they could just flip off their radio and see if the freq number light went out. They'd know if someone's radio was on their channel. We'll have the wives look for an old BINGO board in the yard sales!
I'm thinkin about trying to seal up the EVX and take a few laps in the snow! Whaddya think canbquick - wanna make alittle smoke?
OvalmanPA 12-20-2002, 10:13 PM Haha.........I think canbquik avoids water like the plague when it comes to the maxx!
canbquik avoids water because I made him sign an agreement that says he cannot put that much money in a car ever again!!! :p
ovalman... I did not accuse, I was just pointing out that Don was faster than all you guys. No biggie. Your partner and your ma should definately check out www.newpitcrew.com :) I have found the best of the best! Just Kidding. But it is a good idea.
don... I agree. That way I don't have to scream to see if someone's radio is on. I will check ebay for a bingo board!
canbquik 12-21-2002, 12:57 AM hey your friendly night r/c'er:cool: I really like the support I'm receiving from my fellow competitors:rolleyes:Kim, anytime you want'ta run I'll be there(I have a backup now!)And Don bring your modified this sunday, I haven't pieced a car out on the track in a long time  well it's late & I'm going to bed! C-YA
OvalmanPA 12-22-2002, 10:10 PM Forth week of points racing and another three track records. First was Janice Himes improving her Stock truck record by a lap, next was Adam Hamilton breaking Courtney Morses' record in the Pro stock truck class, and finally Kim Fortner once again setting his record lower in the BuRP class............with a different car even. He's finally got the SC18 working pretty well.

I wish we could make it out there soon, but between the weather, our cars lol and me working on sundays now, it's hard for us to make it down, but we will hopefully soon.. I would just send you a payment for the shirts, but that would be a good reason to take a day off work hehe:D it looks to me like there has been some GREAT racing with a ton o people showing up, i can only hope offroad goes as well. Hope to see you all soon, scooby
OvalmanPA 12-29-2002, 11:39 PM Three new records again this week with Jason Okerlund taking the spot in Pro stock truck, Courtney Morse smoking the 2wd stock class, and Justin Johnson, taking the Modified taxi class record home. Fifth week of points and there are only a couple classes that aren't real close. Looks like it's going to be a real interesting year.

johnqpublic 01-02-2003, 10:45 AM Looking at the 2wd stock results, I just may put project 'Ol Lo' on the backburner and bring out something that will run a 68! LOL!
OvalmanPA 01-02-2003, 08:27 PM I see how you are now. Don't wanna race with us mear mortals, you wanna be superman!
Jcook 01-02-2003, 08:42 PM I am superman...I can fly off of the pipes pretty good.....
canbquik 01-02-2003, 11:55 PM hey if you guys want FLIGHT, then let Kim & I show you that 'Team Old Lo''is old school for 'flying at low altitudes'
OvalmanPA 01-03-2003, 03:11 PM Oh yea. K1M.........should you really be complaining about the noise emmiting from your car? Ya still ran 63 laps!! :D
johnqpublic 01-03-2003, 03:34 PM Don't worry Rick. Work will continue on the 'Ol Lo', although I dont think it'll be ready this week, but I'll try.
Believe me, I'm VERY happy to twist 63 laps out of the old jrx but all that noise is more than alittle embarrassing! In it's day, the best I ever did with it was 59 laps. Probably mostly a credit to modern day batterys and motors. Anyway, a new set of tranny gears and spur gear setup will be this week's trial and error. I'm also playing with some short shocks in front. I'm havin' a ball seeing what I can come up with out of all the outdated junk I have laying around here.
canbquik 01-04-2003, 09:32 AM all the outdated JUNK??? That is highly sophisticated equipment, it takes a good drill, dremel, and an active imagination to build such quality pieces:rolleyes: anyone can BUY a fast car, but it takes a really stubburn person to reserect one:eek: I'm just greatful for the other people who are like me, NOT ALL THERE!!!!!
Jcook 01-05-2003, 08:46 PM I'm a little ticked off at Jared. He took my B-Main Bomber position that I worked so hard for....and made me move up to the A-Main slot...
OvalmanPA 01-06-2003, 04:17 PM Only one track record this week as Courtney Morse added another lap to his record in the 2wd stock class. I see a 70 very soon.

scooby_cakes 01-08-2003, 07:36 PM hey, rick, i know it's a bit away from now, but i was wondering if there was a way you could get the BRPs into the offroad sceen? cause angie really wants to sell her t2 and get one, but i would hate to have her not be able to race offroad this summer, plus, i think it would bring more people, i couldn't really think of a way, but i figured if anyone could it would be you lol thanks, scooby
OvalmanPA 01-08-2003, 10:24 PM Hmmm...........BuRPs............dirt.........dirt. .........BuRPs. Just doesn't sound like a feasible idea to me man. :(
OvalmanPA 01-13-2003, 05:43 PM We tied our best turnout ever this week with 32 racers. Racer count has been really good this year and I would like to thank everyone greatly for all their support. Even the ones that I'd sometimes like to strangle. :)

Thank You............Thank You.......:D
BTW.....Cory should be racing next week......should be interesting
OvalmanPA 01-13-2003, 10:59 PM Gonna run Production is he? Hard to believe that has been our biggest class this year. Nice to see though because that is our new generation of racers coming up through the ranks.
Jcook 01-13-2003, 11:05 PM Yeah, I just finished getting it set up. Running a futuba speed control, with 1400 batteries. I didn't want to put a fortune into it till I see if he really wants to do it. As far as the production class I agree, need some more new blood. I think I'll stay in that class for a while.....easier maintance on the motor.....clean it.....oil it..and ready to run again, besides I'm just there having fun.

BTW - Unless I miss counted..I counted 35 total different drivers ...dude.
OvalmanPA 01-20-2003, 03:57 PM Another great week of racing and we are almost half way through our points season. Next week is double points/double racer bucks week and NO I hadn't planned this for Stuper Bowl Sunday. I hadn't even considered that when setting things up. The nineth week of points just happened to drop this coming weekend. How many of you really care about that game anyway, I imagine only the drunks? :p

OvalmanPA 01-20-2003, 03:59 PM Oh yea, you must have miscounted Jim. Either that or we had three racers not pay. :)

Not I, We'll be there, gave up that stuff for the most part a long time ago:thumbsup:

I've been known to miss things before......unlike yesterday in the last race ...I don't think I missed a single thing..rough race...:D
Jcook 01-20-2003, 05:42 PM Rick, I was looking at the mini color cams. About the size of a quarter that you can mount inside of the the planes. I wonder what that would look like mounted in behind a rc car in a race? I think it'd be kinda neat looking......kinda like the vantage points they give you in the nascar races.........
Super Bowl or points, neither one really matters to me. I am pretty pumped that Bud Bartos and some of his gang from Ohio will be traveling 250 miles to race BuRPs with us. Bud is a former R/C champion and the creater of BRP (Bud's Racing Products)which includes the mini racers we've enjoyed so much for the last several years. They've heard alot about how much fun we have at Racers Edge and that's the type of racing Bud want's to promote. This has to be the worst possible weather for visitors to "God's Country" but they're bound to make a road trip out of it. Several of us went out and raced with them last June and they're very friendly and competitive racers. I dare say they're alittle more serious than us, but they know we just run for fun. Looks like we might even have a Mod BuRP class for the occasion. ( See k1m get his butt kicked :D )
Have to say that the 2wd class has really been great so far...most of us seem quite closely matched and it's been good fun racing. I'm wringing every drop of squirt I can get out of my JrX2. It isn't a whole lot faster but it's hangin in there for now.
I've been know to enjoy a frosty libation from time to time....
but I'll be there anyway.
Cookie: I've been looking at those for months!
X-10.com I think they're only $80 and you transmit to a reciever hooked to a VCR. I think it would be SO COOL!!!
IN CAR CAMERA!!!
Jcook 01-21-2003, 10:30 PM That's what I was thinking too. COuld you imagine watching it...I'd be trying drive it while I was watching it....
canbquik 01-22-2003, 01:27 AM kind of had a revelation tonight, when it works LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! Went to practice, and was turning 3.7-3.9 laps with the 'team old lo'' carpet buffer! seems there is a point to how low you can go. raised her back up, put some more caster in the front(10 degrees), and went back to the old gear ratio, and I also got rid of the 'ON POWER PUSH' :D , boy what a difference that makes. sunday sounds like it will be a blast! do they believe in the 'rub your way to the front' theory, Kim or should we be a little more BEHAVED and POLITE when racing? I guess what I'm asking is if we're racing or parading? also, will he be bringing only BRP parts or will there be a little bit of everything? until next time remember.... 'IF YOUR NOT RUBBIN',YOUR NOT RACING'
OvalmanPA 01-22-2003, 01:07 PM Yes it should be an interesting weekend to say the least. Things have been crowded lately so we might have everybody packed in there um.....butts to elbows. :)
canbquik finally dumbed onto something last night and his car was scootin' pretty quick. Now if he didn't go home and play with the damn thing again (when it works LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!) he should be a force come Sunday. :p Oh btw, what was I saying about it "maybe being to low"?
johnqpublic 01-22-2003, 03:13 PM I think that you should start an hour early to get everyone home for the big game!
GO RAIDERS!!!
