I was real worried but it turned out to be pretty good conditions for the race. I still need to get the full results off the laptop but here is a pic of our winners. From left, first time racer Justin Fullerton (Production), double taker Don Weimer (Stock truck, Maxx Oval), and Adam Hamilton (Off road). Thanks to those that showed up and put on a good show.

A couple of times?? Nope! Just a lack of control. I'd go after him on the track in a minute, but not after his legs with the Maxx! That would definately hurt. I was thinking the same thing about the spectators on the other side - glad all went well. I don't know what kind of laps we were turning, but I know those big trucks seemed awfully fast and a ball to drive! Chris and I did seem to be magnetized, those big tires have a gear mesh effect when they get together! He did thrash test the new belts/pulleys on my XX-4 for me. It passed, but he needs to work on those jumps.

Here are the complete results from our race at the McKean County Fair on Saturday. First time I believe I've ever seen three Radio Shack cars show up and each of them had their own frequency, no conflicts!

Whats up with this weather??? I see it's supposed to be another nasty weekend.. i think the weather is against me, cause i never know when to make the call on going or not. If it wasn't for bad luck, i would have none lol I see they had some more people in the production class, will they be making it for now on, or was that a one time deal? It looks like everyone had a blast and the races were good, wish i'd a been there.. c-ya all this weekend, I HOPE lol

We have a confirmation on the last parking lot race of the season. It will be Saturday September 21st at 1:00 PM in Port Allegany, Pa. at their yearly Glass Festival. We usually always have quite a few people turn out to watch at this race. We hope anyone that hasn't been able to make some of the other races can come out and join us for this final race.

Like my Mom says, school has started so it will be nice all week now and crappy on the weekends. Weather against you? We gotta get some races in to pay bills! :D

Production guys were a one time thing. They all had Radio Shack cars.

i thought i mentioned it that i was looking for a touring car for our indoor season here in warren, but maybe i didn't lol i wish i would of known, but i do enjoy building them.. what extras do you have and would you sell them without the car? I'm always looking for new stuff lol i'm looking for a receiver for it to work with my jr xr2, i was thinking of getting a xxl, if by chance you had one of them lol I already have a cyclone esc for it, but any other hop ups i'm always looking for. thanks:thumbsup:

I just got to thinking today, there is only a month left of racing at offroad.. then if will be back to making nothing but left turns lol  and i was also curious as to how the trophy day works out.. what places do you have to get to get a trophy and if there is enough people to show up to have a B main as well, would the winner of that get one or would you have to be in the A main to get one.. I'm just worried that my sis and angie will get one and to have me walking away empty handed lol  but it's all for the love of the sport anyways, right??? I feel that and i hope i don't step on anyones toes for this, but i think you should of had to be there for atleast 50% of the races to be able to get a trophy, not that i have any say in it and i know that sometimes people have other things they have to do, but i just don't see it as being fair for the people that make it there every weekend or close to it, to miss out and have someone just show up that day and win and get one.. i just feel that you don't win an award, you earn it.. just my 02 cents. i hope i didn't step on any toes for that, angie and i were just talking today, so i needed to vent...

OvalmanPA
09-03-2002, 02:17 PM
Oh I agree with your thinking but it's kind of hard to "patrol" that one when it's just a weekly race. Now you will notice (rules) when we run a points series that a person has to run 50% of the races to be eligible to receive a trophy. Right now we plan on giving away trophies for first, second, and third for Production, Stock truck A-main, Stock buggy, Electric Maxx, and first place for Stock truck B-main. We can't really see any point in getting trophies for Modified buggy and truck, 1/10 nitro truck, and Nitro Maxx when those classes have hardly been run lately.

we had a great time at your track, we will definately be back. probably not this weekend but the following if you are racing, i will check yopur schedule. we really like the track and most of all the attitude of all the racers and track people, very friendly and more fun than all the tracks we have been to. like i said, we will definately be back the following weekend and i will bring my radios this time also. thanks rick for helping me out with the loaner radio and the guy with the emaxx that let heather use his radio, we really appreciate it. we owe you one, thanks

Pat, yes we will be racing on the 14th. We won't be racing off road the 21st however because of a parking lot race. No problem on helping you out with radios. We've all been there, believe me. :) I'm just glad Futaba AMs are compatable with JR AMs! If you're going to that race we were talking about before you left, good luck.

OvalmanPA

Bruce, it should be available if you guys want to use it. I'll make sure I get the batteries charged for it. We tried checking on t-shirt/hat prices today before we order but the lady wasn't there. Hopefully we can get them made before the last race of the season. Have a look at the sheet to make sure we have all the shirts listed you want.

Looking like it's going to be another beautiful day for an off road race!

Another absolutely BEAUTIFUL day for an off road race again and once again........no one shows up! We had an "astronomical" six people racing today and I want to thank them very much for coming. What in the world happened to all the people that wanted to race off road? I don't understand it........... Anyway, we had a new track record in Stock truck today with Adam Hamilton finally pushing the lap pace over 12. I actually ran a 12 in the second qualifier but Adam beat my time in his heat (right after mine). Only two more weeks of off road racing remain so if you wanna do it in the dirt you better get it done either September 14th or 28th.

If you listened to the weather predicters today you missed out on a perfect day to race AGAIN!! The "Collective Desire to Race" prevailed again today against all odds and provided us an afternoon of casual and competitive fun. The stock truck class had some fierce battles but no one really had anything for Adam, who looks slow but goes fast. The track was FULL of traction all day, the times were good. I think several track records fell as a result. The EMaxx main was as good as it gets even if there were only two of us in that class! We fought tooth and nail the whole 4 minutes and even though Don screwed up in the last turn, I did too and he won by inches - what more can you ask for? Good racing, good food, good friends, GOOD TIME!!

Two more entries this week but still a poor turnout. I'm really hoping it's not going to be a bad year indoors too. :( Two records did fall. Adam Hamilton once again lowered the record in Stock truck and K1M lowered the time in Electric Maxx. We take a week off from off road racing next week to do a little parking lot racing and then we finish up our off road season on the 28th.

I've talked to a couple of guys from the Warren track on another thread. Jeff, Shawn, & Dave I think are their real names. Do you know them Scooby? You guys race on Wednesday nights? The Cameleon class,I remember now, that's why I haven't raced at Warren the last year or two. I hate to buy a motor just to run there a couple of times, you know? We had a better turnout than we have had lately for our last race of the season. I was REAL worried about the track after it raining all day Friday, HARD at times. We had to do a little maintenance in the morning but if you ask me the track was in the best condition after that, that it has been all season! Was a real nice thing not having to water all day too. Traction was there and there was some pretty good racing. Donalbain ran a new fast pace for a track record in the Stock buggy class to break his own previous record. I'd like to thank everyone that came to support us all year and we look forward to doing it again next year. Time to get those carpet burners ready to go now! We'll be going indoors in a little more than a month.

Hello Racers!,

It’s time to get ready for some winter racing fun! We are about to get another season of carpet racing started so we figured it was a good idea to let you know our schedule and inform you of a few new rule changes.

First of all we’ll be getting the season under way with the customary swap meet on Saturday November 2nd at 6:00PM. This will be the perfect time for you to do a little trading on items you might want to pick up for the beginning of the season or pass on some good deals to your fellow R/Cers on items you want to part with. As always the track will be open for your first “shakedown” runs before we open the season on Sunday the 3rd. Speaking of getting the racing under way, you’ll have to get around a little earlier this year because we’ll be getting started an hour earlier with the first qualifiers now going off at 12:00PM so please be signed up by 11:45. We will be running a nineteen week points series this year with the first points race being December 1st. We’ll also be running a mid season double point/double racer buck race on January 26th so you’ll not want to miss that one! The season will conclude with the customary end of season swap meet on March 29th at 6:00PM and trophy race with crowning of our points champs on March 30th.

Now on to the rule changes and clarifications. We have made a few changes to the rules this year and you can check out the full rundown by visiting the website (www.racersedgerc.com). First of all you will now be able to reenter the track during qualifying if something happens to your vehicle that can be quickly repaired. We are going to ask you to be extremely cautious when doing this so you don’t screw up a good run someone has going on the track. The rule will remain the same for mains however, once you leave the track, you must remain off the track. Next up is a change to the Stock and Pro stock classes. You will be able to run offset suspension (see rules) in the Pro stock class but not the Stock class. I made a mistake in telling a couple people last year that they could run “narrow” wheels on their trucks and I sincerely apologize for reneging on that now but we are going to enforce the truck wheel size of 2.2x2. You will need to run the stock width wheels in all truck classes to be legal..........sorry. We have decided to change our stance on moving people to the Pro stock class once they win three points championships or dominate 90% or more races in the Stock truck class also. We felt that it was unfair to make a person move on to the next higher level if they didn’t think they could run that classes speed. You are still not allowed to run both Stock truck and Pro stock truck on the same weekend however. And finally, we have decided to institute a maximum width for the 2wd stock class since a older car with truck arms is still only about the same if not narrower than a present day car with pancar converted front end. We have not come to a final width on this yet but it is probably going to be based on the Losi XXX buggy with pancar conversion front end on it + 1/8”.

I think that about does it. We’ll still have parts available at the track and remember that our shop is open five days a week (Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri, Sat) from 10-5 daily if you need anything between race weekends. We hope to have a good race season and we look forward to seeing all our R/C friends again.

SEE YOU AT THE RACES!

Thank you to everyone that came out and raced today. It was a GREAT turnout for our first week of carpet racing. Sorry that the track is so rough to start the season but I think in the next several weeks it will smooth out some. So without further ado............our first weeks results.

Hey Rick......it was mentioned during the drivers meeting on Sunday that there is a possibility of using a "2-minute between heats" format. Having caught some of the "pitside chatter", I think this would be a VERY good idea. Adding it up, there was 153 minutes (a little over 2.5 hrs) of actual racing, but it took almost 6 hrs to run. Granted, I could think of worse things to be doing, but geeeeez! LOL!

One suggestion that I have (assuming that the computer can be set up this way) is: Since you only have one set of transponders, but you rarely have more than 5 cars in a race (except for the BuRPs sometimes), why not set it up so that Race 1 uses transponders 1-5, Race 2 uses 6-10, Race 3 uses 1-5, etc. That way the next race up can be 100% ready to go when the previous race is done, without having to wait for a transponder. And if you are going to have a 2 min rule, you have to stick to it, no matter who it is that is lagging behind. I know that sometimes this can seem unfair, but if you think about it, everyone has the same amount of time to get ready. A lot of tracks will let you "call" a minute grace period, which I think is OK. That still means a maximum of 3 minutes between heats...which by the way would have cut over an hour out of Sunday. I dont want to sound like I'm complaining...just trying to offer some suggestions.
