hey ovalman i noticed the the track rules it says u need a frequencqy clip is that the little colored band of cloth u put on your transmitter?? or is it something different

Nope, there are clothes pins at the track that are on the frequency board. Each one has a different frequency number written on it, you clip the right one on your radio to show that you are using that frequency so no one gets messed up.

EvaderAndy
09-29-2004, 06:54 AM
yeah that way two guys won't be on the same freq at the same time as Rick and SPC know runaways into streams and moving vehicles is a problem even through we're inside alot can still bust a car or someone or both.

OvalmanPA
09-29-2004, 01:00 PM
knoxville.......like what was said, before you go out on the track to practice or race you must get your frequency clip. We have a board that has all the frequencies on 27 and 75mhz with a clothes pin for each frequency. All you have to do is grab your clip and put it on your antenna before going out. If the clip isn't there for your frequency that means someone is already on the track so you'll have to change or wait until it's available.

Yer in luck because I just happen to have some nice new Spec Point Concepts packs here in stock. They are $34 and are matched (400+ runtime, 1.14+ voltage), assembled, shrink wrapped, and have a Tamiya connetor on them. If you've checked any other prices you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal. If I'm not mistaken a pack like these holds the track record in Production right now at the carpet track. I have four in stock if you're interested.

Geez another new screen name? You're starting to confuse me man. No "set in stone" start date yet. "Tentative" schedule is to get in there November 10th, swap meet 20th and first race 21st. I should be sending out e-mails and fliers along with posting start details within a week or so. Sorry........nobody has wanted a truck. :(

Yeah! It sure seems like we should have alot to talk about!

So that makes the first race at Racers Edge indoor November 21, huh?

And I hear a EMaxx on carpet class is in the making. That should be amusing if nothing more. Time will tell.....

What up on the new carpet, Ovalman? Too bad you couldn't wait & get leftovers from some big race. I've seen their ozite for sale online last couple of years. Nothing like new carpet to shatter some records on though! Is CRC's rug the best?

Terminators in stock class? Hmmmm... A 19turn class sounds like fun though. Alot of other tracks do seem to get racers for that class.

5 min races sounds like more fun for your $$. Speed and runtime will be determined by gearing, setup, and skill as always.

We're looking forward to another season of BRP racing. We only got one chance to race 1/18 scale onroad at BRP World Headquarters in Ohio this summer, but believe me....BuRPs are alive and well. Joy proved that a stock SC18 Fun Won (with Da Bug body) can be VERY competitive with the best, bringing home a nice 2nd in the Stock B main. Most of the other racers there don't use the Fun Won variation of SC18's.
Bud's been busy developing yet another improvement to his already dominating 1/18 scale chassis design called SC18 V2 (version 2). It takes the BuRP another step towards true pan car design and performance. I'm putting one together now and hope to give it a go soon. :D

Oh yeah, I forgot...anybody got a Traxxas TQ3 (3 channel) transmitter for sale? A neighbor of mine's kid bought an EMaxx but he needs the TQ3.

OvalmanPA
10-10-2004, 04:57 PM
Right now the season is looking to begin on Nov 21st but that is a tentative date.......not set in stone yet but darn near.

I've kind of decided that the CRC carpet is the way I'm going to go. Only problem with some of the bigger races is that by the end it can be almost worn out if they get a big enough turnout. Is it the best? Time is going to tell if it lasts like the "lo-pi" did and man I hope it does because it's going to be SOME investment! I'm going to be contacting them in the next week or so and get it ordered.

Terminators in stock class? That will be Terminator trucks, not cars. :) Basically any "oval only" designed truck. From what things showed last year it didn't seem to matter as Adam with a stock chassis truck smoked the old records set by the LTO trucks. Hard to believe but it happened. The 19T class will hopefully open up another class for those that are running trucks to race along with stock.

I think the 5 minutes is also going to come with a 3 minute between races time limit also. In the past most races have been ready to go within 3 minutes so I don't think it will be a problem. I am going to offer racers to call a 1 minute grace period if they have a problem however.

I can't wait to see how the new V2 works. I'm kind of falling behind on generations of SC18 so I might have to have a new car. :)

48? Yes, with the HB3O. I think I was down to 45 w/ the Terminator.

EvaderAndy
10-11-2004, 10:03 PM
rick,

It's to bad the tracks a little small we could run maxx's on the road course like you did with the stampede's

also I don't know if I'll have the H2 with me but he said he has $50 bucks to blow on a paint job but the stuff he wants Is a little farfeched like in Xtreme rc the bods from proline for maxxs that has the flames on the wheel wells and hood or the stampede body that has the red, white, and blue flag theme.

OvalmanPA

Polli........I'll try to come up with a new layout but other than that things will remain the same. The track is going to be more "square" this year so maybe I can come up with something different.

Hello Racers,

First of all, thank you to all of those that made a trip or many out to the summer off road season and I hope you enjoyed the racing. It is now time to get the carpet tires out however and move indoors. Those of you new to my race fliers and don’t know where the indoor track is located, it is in the 4-H Center on the McKean County Fairgrounds in East Smethport, Pa. We race on Sundays starting at 12:00 and ask that you please be signed up by 11:45. The doors open about 9:30 so you can get a couple hours of practice before we get started. Please see the website (www.racersedgerc.com) for classes and rules.

We have a few changes this year to report. First and biggest on the list is new carpeting. The old carpet has been in use for at least 12-15 years and was getting in pretty sad shape. In it’s place this year when you arrive for the first day will be two strips of brand new CRC Fasttrack carpet. They say it’s the best so we’ll see! Other changes to note are in classes. Previously we separated the purpose built "LTO" trucks and the stock chassis trucks in to two classes, Stock and Pro stock truck. We will still have the Pro stock class however it will now be a 19t class. Legal motors will be Trinity Chameleon/2 and Reedy 19t spec. In the future I may add more but these are the legal motors to start off the class. You will now also be able to run Stock and Pro stock unlike what was previously allowed. Finally a change that we made outdoors will be spilling into the indoors with 5 minute racing being the norm for all classes. With this change will come a shorter time between heats of 3 minutes. You may call a one minute grace period but after this time if you aren’t on the line the race will start without you. There should really be no problem with this because most races started before the 3 minute mark last year. So in other words, be ready, don’t wait until the last minute to charge your pack or you will be sitting out that heat.

As with every year we will start off the season with a swap meet so you can pick up some needed items before the season starts or just get some practice. We will also have food available so you won’t starve as the day goes on. One thing I did find out is we are probably not going to have enough tables to go around this year. The 4-H is trying to keep the tables they have in the best shape as possible so they are probably only going to leave about five there and put the rest in storage. So in other words when you come to race remember to bring a table with you in case the others are already taken.

Schedule

November 20 - swap meet - 6:00 PM - ?

November 21 - first race

December - 5 - first points race

January - 23 - mid season double points/double racer bucks

March - 20 - last points race

March - 26 - swap meet - 6:00 PM - ?

March - 27 - trophy day/final race

If anyone has any questions at any time please feel free to e-mail or give me a call and I’ll give you all the information I can.

Hope to see everyone soon!

Rick

P.S. One other thing. Everything is going to be on sale! Stop in the shop or at the track from November 1st - December 31st and receive a 5% discount on all in stock items.

EvaderAndy
10-21-2004, 08:27 PM
Rick,

would people be able to leave there tables there instead of dragging them through the snow? and the rules state that if your good enough to run stock you should run stock right? but productions more fun, I think it's more riveraly than maxx, 4wd bug, touring etc.

Also a 5% discount, A good time to stock up on some motors and evader parts:)

Knoxville: Just a little tip in production being first on the track is best that way you can get your tires warmed up a little without interference and get the best starting position before everyone else gets on the line. The worsed thing to do I start In the middle between 2 guys that will probably squeeze you out onto a bad start.

Andy........put your name on your table and you'll have a permanently reserved space. I'd suggest putting your's right down in the corner by where mine will be. Actually it says if you are good enough to run stock then you shouldn't be running production as that is supposed to be a beginner class. :)

Jim......carpet was just ordered on Tuesday. I'm not sure when it will arrive but I have to get the area cleaned where it will be rolled out before it can be. I'll probably get around to the rollout about 11/13 or 14. Best bet on tables would be bring them the night of the swap meet so we see how many we'll need.

SD.......thanks, might get ahold of you.

Just an FYI guys. Canbquik, The Cook, and myself went for a ride to Erie yesterday to do a little "pre season" (at least before we get started) carpet oval racing at Bulldog R/C Club. During our discussions I decided it's been at least three years since I've raced anywhere other than Racers Edge! Anyway, the day went very well for us. Chris finished 2nd in EDM and third in Mod truck and I finished 2nd in Mod truck out of 7 trucks. It was a VERY fun day to get out and do a little racing, I really enjoyed myself. They normally race on Tuesday nights if anyone is ever interested and you can find more information here (www.jjgun.com/jjgun/Bulldog/RC%20Main.htm). I was informed that the surface we ran on was the new CRC ozite and if it was, there will be NO worries about traction at our track this year.!

Had a guy right next to us that apparently had bought one of your cars........Scott something I believe. He ran second in the main till Chris took him out. :jest:

Oh yea.......Chris also mentioned something about a trip to Walts at 90+ mph?

Dang forgot to mention. The carpet has arrived everybody so bring on November!!
