Joy and I were over to the fair last night and I checked out the R/C track. I have to say it looks better than I've seen it since right after it was built. Whoever is responsible should be thanked by all of us. The side walls have been painted white, the driverstand has been painted, and the dirt looks like its been worked up and raked out smooth...even the infield looks good! Should make for some a$$ kickin' dirt oval racing if the weather cooperates. This is one of the few remaining dirt oval races left in this area and it's only once a year.
So if you've been going to race your R/C all summer but haven't, or even if you've never raced, get 'em out, dust 'em off and come on down to the Fair this Saturday and have some fun!

Andy: Bring your mini-T, I hear there's gonna be an awful battle in that class!
I wish I could but all my batts are dead for everything I have maxx, mini,I only have one pack that works and that's for the buggy sorry.

I went over last night and check out the track for the first time and look pretty cool, small, but cool. watched the races and there was some good wrecks, spin outs, and clean passes. It was sweet.

Polli......just set all her crap outside and come on over to play with us! :)

As K1M posted, get in on the only dirt oval race of the year folks. Should be a good time. Racing begins at 1:00 tomorrow unless we get the rain they are predicting and then hopefully things come out nice in the afternoon like last year so we can get some racing in. If it does rain in the morning, don't let that scare you off because we'll probably be there. Maybe K1M will do some brooming in his bare feet again this year. :p See everybody tomorrow.

Pretty good chance I'll be there, weather depending of course. Remember Rick, to bring some buggy tires and B3 or B4 front wheels and B4 or Losi rear wheels (to keep my widths right). Spikes on a Terminator...should be interesting.

I'm guessing that that track soaks up water pretty fast, based on the last time I raced on it......

Just wanted to mention what a good time I had yesterday. For me it was very relaxing, and those things should be whats its all about.

Even though it was a small field, it was still a good time. Loved banging the right-rear against the cushion and running the high-side!!

If I had the time, I would seriously consider looking into operating that track on a weekly basis...........Its obvious that at one time someone put a lot of work into that place and its a shame it only gets used once a year.

Those that couldn't make it to the McKean Co. Fair missed a good time and some good racing action. The Mini-Ts made their first outing on the dirt oval and I think they were a pretty big hit! Most of the spectators are just looking for big wrecks and giant wheelies but the little trucks really put on a pretty good show. There was nothing like watching a couple scaled down dirt mods going at it either. Johnqpublic finally found the line in the main and started backing it into the first turn and rocketing out the second. Wish I would have had my camcorder ready because it sure was cool to watch. K1M lead me on in the heats and put in his good packs for the main to put the ever livin' smack down on me. Of course it didn't help any that I managed to forget to repeak my packs either..............DOH! Next year Mister! :jest: Only a couple weeks of off road left before we take the fall break. Hope to see everyone then.

Me too Paul. The Fair race has been a favorite of our for years and it's always amazed me that we don't see more racers there. The weather does tend to scare people away as it seems to rain saturday morning nearly every year. This year was no exception, we had water standing on the frontstretch and infield....SO glad noone lost an ESC by getting into the water!! After alittle rakeing and "track packing" by a few brave individuals, the track really came around. By the time the EMaxxs got their run in, it was just right. The classes were small, but the racing was good and the spectators got to see some action. Another thing that is cool about the fair race, I'll bet I talked to a dozen different people who were interested in R/C racing. Some even already owned an R/C but have never raced it. Then there's the kids who like to feel the EMaxx's tires and ask if they can drive it. ;)
Thanks to Bill and Joel Kohler for all the track maintenance and thanks to Racer's Edge for keeping the tradition alive.

From what I got talking to Bill on Thursday night is that if the turnout doesn't get better then the race is in jeapordy of being extinct. He basically said that it just wouldn't be worth the effort any more. It does seem the turnout has been rather low the last couple years. :(

Of course if the rumor that a stage might be built in the future in that general area, we probably won't have to worry about it anyway because they will probably tear out the track.............

Yeah, I fell and banged the heck out of my shoulder. I really hate the sling I have to wear.

That's one of the reasons that I haven't been racing lately. I hope to be back to racing by carpet season. See ya all then!

Beautiful day and great track conditions for some off road racing and we had only a few smiling faces show up to have fun. Where have all the racers gone? Did I piss everybody off somehow? Trophy week next week and we'll hand out some points plaques. Hope there are more that can make it then.

Sorry I couldn't make it down off the hill for some racing, had to make a trip to Clarion for the start of college. My E-Maxx was very disappointed and wouldn't talk to me when I got home! I had to run a couple packs thru it just to calm it down.

OvalmanPA

Tom......I forgot that you would probably be taking a trip to Clarion last week. I saw Jamie in to Costas and she said it was time to go back. She also said you'd probably be pretty glad of it. :jest: Had wondered where you and Denny were because it turned out to be a real nice day.

Knoxville.......congrats on the purchase or trade, whichever it was. :) Prices are as follows;

Motor.......Traxxas Stinger - $18.50 or Tamiya 540 sport tuned - $19.50
Tires.......TRC mounted - $19.50 a pair or Losi wheels/pancar donuts - $6.50 a pair and $8.50 a pair

The Stinger has been the most popular motor since it seems we had a string of bad luck with the Tamiya motors last winter. The TRC mounted and trued foams are the easier way to go because they are just a bolt on affair. Maybe we'll see you this winter!

Andy...........that's a tough one because it sure sounded like another ring and pinion gear. Did you try the wheel holding trick like I did to it two weeks ago? Hhhmmmm.......seems like it would be either that or a stripped 1st or 2nd gear like Don had happen to his.

Andy...........that's a tough one because it sure sounded like another ring and pinion gear. Did you try the wheel holding trick like I did to it two weeks ago?
rick I just did the wheel trick and it flips around in my hands. when I took apart the tranny and looked inside there was no,nope, none, zero oils, grease nothing so I put some green slime in it. could a dry tranny do that? cause it isn't making no nosie anymore.

OvalmanPA
08-31-2004, 06:38 PM
No, what you had was a gear mesh problem somewhere so I don't think just slapping some slime to it would work. :) When you had everything apart you may have gotten something "just right" when you put it back together so it's not doing it. I'd run it around the farm a little to make sure it is ok before you get here on Sunday. Would hate for you to miss another race because of it. :(

Rick after I said about the wheel test I took it outside and it made that nosie again and I made it do it so I could find the woren area but still no luck. but it was only front wheel drive for after about 3 accelerations so it Is the rear diff, where I don't know but If I dont find it by thursday I'm coming to the shop to pick up parts and I'll bring the diff and have you take a look at it if you don't mind rick.

We had a nice end to a good summer of racing yesterday. The food was excellent that everyone brought with them and I'm quite sure I ate to much of it. :) Courtney Morse ended the season with a total sweep of the classes he signed up for. You all in the Mini-T class just better be glad he doesn't have one of those yet. He also ended the season with a new track record in the Stock buggy class so I'm sure he was a happy guy by the end of the day. Of course he also had to put up with everybodies ribbing to go with it. LOL Hope everybody liked the "hardware" we passed out to the winners? Overall it was a good day of racing all around. I want to thank everyone that came out to race this season and I'm already in the process of redesigning the track for next summer. Stay tuned for info on when we'll be getting started indoors on the carpet!
