Hi Tom,
Welcome to Hobby Talk. Yeah, there's nothing like a last lap pass to win...especially if it's clean! SG1 works hard on his cars (even the BRP) AND he's a very smooth driver....deadly combination!

Hey SPC

SPC, I'm guessing it stands for Spec Point Concepts correct?

I was going to tell you about Hobby talk when I came over to get the fuel but looks like your knew.

Any One With a Reedy Quasar Pro Charger and haven't check assoicated.com latley there recalling them! this is what they said:Due to potential safety concerns, Associated Electrics is planning a voluntary recall of the Reedy #611 Quasar Pro Charger to begin on May 10, 2004

Two problems, a defective fuse and some program errors, make the charger unsafe to use, particularly in dry weather and with high capacity NiMH cells. Corrections for this problem have been developed, but until these corrections are applied the charger should not be used. If you have this charger, it is important that you discontinue its use immediately.

I'm curious as to what those of us with brand new ones on the shelf are supposed to do with them? I guess we'll see soon. Personally I haven't seen any problems with mine in the two years I've used it! I can't wait to see more information on this problem myself.

I've had a request and it seems like we don't have a whole lot of our racers visiting here but I thought I'd look for a general idea of what those that do visit think. I will also pose this question in the newsletter when it goes out.

What does everybody think of going to 5 minute racing for the electric classes? My personal feelings is that in the long run batteries will become more of a factor and motor longevity due to increased heat will be less. I feel that I don't overgear my vehicles by any means but after 4 minutes on the off road, my motor is as hot as I want it to be. I know that there are quite a few other places that already run 5 minutes but I'm not much for keeping up with the Jones' if you know what I mean. :) Anyway, not do discourage anyone from voting for or against the change, these are just my opinions. If the majority of everyone wants to go 5 minutes me may just change things over.

Personally I love the Idea Rick, I come to have a great time racing and adding an extra minute of fun sounds great to me!

My Quasar Pro worked great for a long time ....... then one day it decided to cook a new 3300. The charger didn't sense the battery peak and kept on charging. By the time I got to it the battery was spitting electrolyte everywhere. The cells were so hot the solder melted and the battery bars fell off. It made a terrible mess. A rep from Reedy told me that is what happens when the charger fails, it will work great than without warning ..... meltdown. They sent me a new charger and replaced everything it destroyed during the meltdown. The new charger is quieter, and isn't as senstive to low input voltage. If I owned one of the older ones I would defintiely send it in for replacement.

Hey, guys.. I haven't seen much on the Mini T's racing this year. I piced one up about a month ago and was wondering if you were (still?) going to race them for offroad and if so what class would it be? Stock or mod. thanks, scooby

OvalmanPA
05-09-2004, 02:50 PM
I think we're probably going to have 3-5 people running Mini-T right off the start of the season. I don't think we're going to have enough people to have a stock and mod class so it's probably just going to be one class. Of course.........I could run them like I did Open BuRP last winter, sign up as stock or mod and run them together............hhhmmmmmm.

Will probably be building new 6 cell packs for Ma, Bro and his friend this week. Have some new 2250s I wanna try out. :)

Hello Racers,

It was a pretty good indoor season and we thank each of you that helped make it a success. However, now it’s time to move into the outdoor season and get ready to fling some dirt. There haven’t been many changes to the track from last years racing other than making the triple section a little bigger. If you can imagine, we put the second two jumps into the first one and created new ones from there! By the time you arrive for the first race there will be barriers alongside the bridge jump to prevent you from going over the side of the ramp. This seemed to be a recurring problem last year that we wanted to get fixed. Next year we will have a completely new design but for this year we’re just going for a few improvements. As always we will be having refreshments for your convenience and the final race of the season will have free hot dogs and hamburgers as a thank you for the support throughout the summer (please bring a dish to pass).

We are adding a class to this years roster of races. The Team Losi Mini-T has become a very popular item and we are going to offer a class for these little racers for your enjoyment. As it looks right now we are going to leave the class pretty much open to modifications as it seems there might not be enough interest to have stock and modified classes. If things change we will inform everyone at the first race. We aren’t quite sure yet what part of the track will be used but we will probably not be using the full track area for the Mini-T races. And finally on our list of items to cover for now, a question. There has been a question posed to me suggesting we start racing 5 minute heats and mains. So what does everybody think? If you’d like to give me your thoughts on the suggestion, shoot me an e-mail or let your voice be heard the first week of racing. The majority is going to rule so let me know what you want.

Summer Schedule:

Signup by - 12:15 Heats begin - 12:30

June 6th - First race/points begin

July 11th - Mid season double points race

August 21st - Race at McKean County Fair

August 22nd - No race at our track

August 29th - Points end

September 5th - Last race/trophy day - bring dish to pass for picnic

As always, the track is open for practice all week. Please make sure someone is around before stopping by however. See everybody in a couple weeks!

Rick

Johna

Well Rick, that figures, I guess I should have called (again) huh? I have an eye appointment Saturday at 10:30 in Dubois. I hope to shoot on over there for some practice afterwords. Maybe if I could actually see my car it would help me drive a lil better. Nah, I doubt it, just a thought :)

Well that's a dumb question. He's a fat guy...........fat guys sweat, right Chris? Oh btw, I think it's pretty darn warm out there myself today! ;)

Practicers beware............the track isn't in the best shape right now. There are a few pretty good ditches that have formed due to the heavy rains we've had the last couple days. Todds XXX-NT was having a few problem keeping straight due to them today.

Hi Knoxville, welcome back. We do run buggies at the track, but they are 1/10 scale electric. The track is a lil too tight for 1/8 scale. I prefer buggies myself, and will be running my BK2 in the stock 2wd class, and my xxx4 in the 4wd mod class. If you're wanting to go Nitro there's monster truck and stadium truck classes that are usually run.

Rick, am I forgetting anything? Thanks for the shock sock website, I'll be ordering some soon, unless you can get them

Knoxville.........like Polli said we don't usually have much if any of a turnout of 1/8 scale buggies. However, there is a guy from down near Dubois that was also asking about it and he's going to come up one of these days to practice. Personally and what I've seen, the track is really to small to have much fun with a 1/8 buggy. They are just way to fast for the size of the course we have.

Polli.......have been asked that question before and I haven't found a place that I can get them, sorry.

Andy........I'm betting it will have a little .015 or something like that in it.

Todd.........sickening, isn't it. I just keeps coming down.

Looking like the majority is for 5 minute racing so far guys. I'll probably make a final decision the first day of racing.

Certain parts are questionable. Justin Johnson and Donny Hushon were up here practicing for a couple hours last night. It was "tacky" to say the least. When Justin called I warned him about the ditches and he said it didn't matter so they came and ran some laps. This has GOT to end soon I would hope.
