I tell ya...........ya'all gots no priorities. :) Looks like unless we get some people that wouldn't usually travel that far to race it's gonna be an exibition by Johna, The Cook, Chris, and myself. :(

K1m.......we lives in da country boy......you prolly wouldn't even wake anybody up! :)

scooby...........sucks to have to whittle away at your motor plate to get those motors to fit though doesn't it?

We have opened a new Track Talk section. I will copy this discussion over there. Please use the Track Talk area now and we'll see how it goes.

ya, i had to sand the paint off the end of the motor and cut down my motor plate.. small price to pay though, plus it give me a reason to tinker more lol.. do this motors glitch alot? mayhbe i just have to set my esc, but on my test run it seemed to pause between brake and forward, and it had a small glitch from time to time when running it.. it's all good though

When going for "big air," let off of the throttle.

These things like to land on their cans if you are "like some people I've seen" and are too mezmurized by this 8+pound object sailing through the air ATV (attempting terminal velocity) and not relax the throttle finger.

Made it through the fence today. Front straight, 2nd gear, over the table and through the fence. Couldn't stop laughing. Now I should be able to give Chris a run for his money.

Ovalman: Would you bring my items to Cuba? Might be able to pick them up after the party.

OvalmanPA
06-07-2002, 09:33 PM
I've never noticed them glitching an unusually large amount. That sounds like an ESC problem possibly? Have you tried capacitors?

Don.......gotta love that jump huh? Johna thinks we otta put some catch fence at the end of that straight, maybe I otta believe her now? :) So what did you think of the track now? Much better since it's packed in and watered down huh?

I'll pack up your things when I go back over to close up the shop and throw them in with the items Chris wants me to bring him.

If you guys are interested I think we're gonna have a few guys coming over for practice again Sunday. Just a fyi in case you wanna come play. Time to get to work again.........lots to do and I'm running out of time. :(

scooby_cakes
06-08-2002, 01:05 AM
ya, i never thought of capacitors.. i didn't think you would need them for that type of motor, but i'll give it a try.. thanks.. just think only one more week   hey, one more thing.. the races start at 1 right? well, what time do you think they will end? cause my girlfriend has to be back at 5 to work :( if anything, i'll come down and race till around 4, but i will be there for that long though

Gimme a time for Sunday, I'll try to be there. Kim, KSG...you guys in?

Whenever you guys feel the need I'll be here. Get a time set among yourselves and come on over.

Didn't have much of a crowd yesterday for our racing, about 12 entries I believe but fun was still had by all. Chris pulled triple duty and ran every car he had but his maxx. He came away winning with his TC (Assoc. DS actually) and BuRP. We had a few first timers show up and they seemed to have a real good time and liked their trophies. We'd like to thank the Cuba Fire Department for supplying trophies for us again this year. Next parking lot race will be July 21st in Kane, Pa. but now it's time to get ready for some off roading!

Don......only one pack left man. Chris called Friday night and asked me to bring one with me to Cuba and since you hadn't said to put them aside...... :( Sorry!

scooby......not sure what to tell you on the time schedule. If we get a pretty good crowd it'll be after 5 when we're done.

Oh yes......looks like there may be one less maxx to run next weekend. We'll tell you all about it when you get here to play.

We were treated to another pre-season practice at the off road track Sunday. If you know anyone interested in off road dirt racing this summer, tell them they HAVE to see this track! It's like something you'll see in the R/C magazines, it's got big jumps, small jumps, double jumps, tabletops, no whoop dee do's yet, but with the snake like inner section, it's a challenge. Nice PVC pipe barriers and wide lanes for 2-3 wide racing, too. Another plus is the clay. Looks like it's packing nicely and with alittle water, the traction is there.
We ran the Monster Trucks and although there were some casualties, (I blew a shock and Don made his Maxx 2wd)they do very well on the jumps. I haven't run a stadium truck on it yet, but I'm sure they'll work great too. The onsite Hobby Shop is gonna be WAY TOO HANDY, I can see that already. Ovalman's getting us lots of goodies in stock too, and he'll order nearly anything you could want. I took some video Sunday, and hope to add to it through out the season, because I'm betting there's going to be some hot action here! Look out XXX Main! I'll bet I can talk Chris into jumping his truck off the roof of the Hobby Shop, no problem!

P.S. Jim asked me about a drivers stand...there's no doubt some altitude makes a big difference on an off road track of this size in being able judge depth perception. I say not unless it it accessable to everyone. I was thinking, what about just a raised area of ground?

OvalmanPA
06-11-2002, 02:52 PM
We started to put up the fences today to keep cars out of the creek and YES Don there is going to be a bit of fencing at the end of the straight stretch tabletop. :)

K1M.......when you come up Saturday give the lower side (toward the "crick" :)) a try and see what the vision is like. Adam seemed to like standing down on that side better. We will probably have a drivers stand (fully accessable) but I don't know if that's in the budget for this year. Stocking the shop is putting a whole lot more red on the books than black right now. :D

Get that tape all together and make me a copy for the shop. That would be great to show people through the winter that may stop in to the shop and ask questions.

The posts will be going in this afternoon for the sign so if all goes well that will be up within a couple days (cement has to dry).

Donalbain
06-12-2002, 08:54 AM
Aren't you glad the tabletop was moved back? Truck would probley be clearing the fence...oh, wait. Still gonna look for a cow bell for you to put down there. Kind of track warming gift.

Well, it's not looking good for my maxx. The front drive shaft "popped" because the front bulkhead and skid plate broke. Musta tapped the fence a tad hard.:o So, unless I get creative with some zipties, I won't be running it.:(

Not sure what's causing my motor wires to unsolder on the xxxt. Had the same problem a few years ago running in grass. Might have something to do with the slipper tension. Too much/little. Motor must be working too hard.

OMPA: Hope you have Losi dif nutz. 6306 or 03 I think. If not, K1m might have one for me.

Hope it doesn't rain Saturday.

OvalmanPA
06-13-2002, 05:48 PM
Got some on the wall as I recall Don. Unfortunatly I can't help ya out with the Maxx. :(

k1m
06-13-2002, 06:40 PM
Dang! Sorry to hear the purple Maxx is hurtin'. Unless Chris gets a new ESC, that means it might be just me and KSG! Hehehehe!
If your motor wires are unsoldering themselves and your drivetrain is free I would gear down for sure. Dunno what you're running for gear in your XXXT and I haven't run a stadium truck on the track yet, but I'd guess somewhere around 18/88 with a stock. Gear way down and if it still gets so hot, try another motor. If the slipper or diff is too loose it'll burn up the gears, but if they're too tight I don't think that would melt the solder on the motor.

Donalbain
06-14-2002, 09:57 AM
Well, I'm not sure about tomorrow. Really not sure about the Maxx. The shop in town wants double price for replacement parts. I'd rather make a speed run to Jtown. Or just let her sit a week and order from OMPA. Guess it'll come down to the wire tomorrow.

Not sure if the XXXt was overgeared or not. P2K with 86/20 gearing. Very well could have been though, the motor was HOT! Still need to grab some rims for more approprate tires. Put the wing on and applied "graphite" decal, too cool.

K1m: Horizon told me yesterday that the dynamite shocks should be in stock within 10 days. Not sure if I believe them though. Been waiting since the begining of May!

OvalmanPA
06-14-2002, 02:01 PM
I'm not sure about tomorrow either. It started raining last night at about 9:30 and didn't quit till about 10:30 this morning. The track is EXTREMELY wet right now so I don't think we are going to be able to get in a race this week. Anybody interested in coming should give the shop a call (814-887-9256) after 9:30 tomorrow to see if we'll still be running. Right now it's not looking to good. :(

86/20 is a bit overgeared if you ask me Don. I'd say something in the 88/18-20 would be somewhere to start.

well, it seems to be really nice here in warren now 5pm friday, but thats not to say whats going on down there.. i have looked forward to this day for what seems like years lol i wouldn't only be able to stay the whole time anyways, cause my girl has to work at 5 here in warren, but i wanted to atleast get a race or two in  lets just all keep our hopes up cause you never know, i'll call you around 11, just before we leave to see if you will make my day or ruin it :( lol hope to see you all tomorrow:thumbsup:

Haha............it's not raining here either but the damage (figuratively speaking) has basically already been done by raining all night last night. This clay takes forever to dry and is STICKY when wet. Going to go look at it up close right now but I'm not making any promises since we haven't had any sun today.

it just started raining here again... nooooooooo :o :( you have got to be kidding me lol i have be waiting so long and everyone is so pumped up about going, i even have everything packed and ready :( maybe by the stroke of god there will be total dryness over the night lol i'll call you tomorrow or look on here in the morning, to make sure.. hey, i was thinking and i realize that the track is probably really big, but it could be an idea for everyone to chip in 10 - 15 bucks to get some type of tarp for it, it's only a thought. hope to hear only GOOD news lol

Scooby: We have this thing that if enough people gather in one spot with a powerful enough desire to race R/C's it's possible to control the weather. It seems to work, but I've seen it fail a couple of times - it's not 100%.:( If you haven't seen the track or hobby shop yet, stop in and check it out. It's not like racing, but it helps.:D

(It's pouring here again - maybe we can have rain days on Sundays??)

Don: I scored a set of Maxx Dynamite shocks I think, IN STOCK:

http://www.thercproshop.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=443 - Thanx KSG!

I have several different Losi rears for the trucks, you're welcome to try before you buy. Soft mini pins work good if dirt has good pack, if it's dusty, I think the patterned tires work better the softer the compound the better.

06-14-2002, 11:03 PM
I have bought a couple things off the R/C Pro Shop and if you check out and say you want 2 of something and they only have one in stock, it tells you before you finish checking out. So if you went all the way, they must have them on hand (I HOPE). Glad to hear that I helped, it is about time......

Doesn't look good for tommorrow, we just had another thunder storm here. Oh well maybe everyone can get there vehicles together for the next one instead, I can't wait to get 4 emaxx's out on the course at the same time, talk about slam and bang, and that's just me hitting the pipes

Rain, rain, go away come back ummm.........not so close to the weekend! I've come to the conclusion we have to have it set up like this from now on. It is allowed to rain Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (hopefully not all these days) but not Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I can wish can't I?!?! :)

This weekend is a total washout, quite literally actually. As a matter of fact if it doesn't quit soon we may have to drag all the clay back out of the one turn down on the lower side. This weather is really getting irritating! Oh well I guess we will try again next Saturday.

Sorry K1M...............no rain dates. :)

I hear that oval.. it's almost like the rain knows we didn't want it to, so it did lol we can all hope for next saturday though  lets just all want it to rain, then in won't :D i even had my sister call you saturday to see if we were on or not, cause i knew she wouldn't believe me.. she had me up at 8 am, i think she is way more excited then i was : ) i got to go see the new scooby doo movie, so i guess saturday wasn't a total loss, this rain even ruined the R/c air show i was gonna go to on sunday, GOOD GREEF, well, i WILL see you THIS saturday

Once you find Bloomster Hollow you are good to go since we now have a sign up at the shop (don't mind the one post that's longer :)). KSG: Hope that forcast holds true! What I've read in local papers, well, it doesn't look so good.

OMPA: I hope to be @ the track on Friday. Not sure what time but it will be after 10a. I'll be bringing my "personal marshal." Gotta see how well the Losi's (Losii?) hook up and break in the clutch on the Maxx.

KSG...from the sounds of it that is about what WPIG is saying too. They do call for a "chance" of a shower though on Saturday. Of course it's only Wed. so anything can happen between now and then. Plan on wetting the heck out of the track Fri. night before dark so we don't have to worry so much Sat......I hope. :) Oh yes.......wetting the track IS a good thing!.

Don.........I'll be here! Maybe I'll charge a couple packs and see how my buggy works now that I have the long shocks back on it.

1. It's not gonna rain
2. Motors don't matter
3. It's gonna be fun no matter what

I'll be bringing my Maxx, (with STOCK motors)my XX-4, and probably Joy's XX-T. (ALL stock)I doubt she'll race, but I want to run it alittle to be sure it's ready.

The Maxx is race ready now I think, I beefed it up alittle and the new shocks have made a world of difference in it's handling. I'm alittle concerned about the tolerances in some of these aftermarket goodies, and their quality control, but it's getting there. Hope it handles half as good on the offroad track as it does mine - ARE YOU SKEERT YET??

I came up with some EMaxx car stands that may interest some, they might even hold a 'pede, not sure.
See you guys 2morrow......

Well it was questionable for awhile and we almost could have had some human lightning rods but we got our first race in. I hope all of those that attended enjoyed themselves and I sincerely appologize to those that I may have pissed off by hurrying things along at the very end due to the weather. The little shower we had just before the second qualifier seemed to actually help the track a little (once it got worked in) and I hope everyone was pleased with the track conditions.

We didn't have a large turnout but it was right around the amount I was hoping for, for our first race that is (15-20). We hope to see everyone again next weekend for some good racing.

K1M.....you going to run a stocker in your XX4 or mod? I'm gonna try to get my buggy ready for next week and want to know what to put in it.

I must say and i speak for myself as well as my sister, i had a total blast.. i was so used to just indoor carpet racing, which in it's own right, isn't bad, but off road is just WOW lol I think the track is perfect. I just want to thank everyone for being so nice to the "newbies" lol i hope to see you all again next weekend. i think i just missed out on the big shower, but i caught it on the way home, i hope everyone got there races in. see you soon & thanks again, scooby
