the foams work a lot better as long as you have some of what K1m,Ovalman, and canbquik called I thinks it was love lotion which sofens the foam so it grips better.

Traction compound: Paragon, Zip Grip, Simple Green, Go Jo, TQ, etc., Lots of things are used as a tire additive....they're all "Love Lotion" because you'll love the way they make your car handle....Right guys? (I'm trying to save this)
Scout: I don't recommend the duratrax indicar, it is inexpensive but it will break VERY easily. Pick up a used buggy or truck, slam (lower) the suspension, put some foam tires on it and go for either production, or one of the stock classes. Of course you could get a BRP 1/18 scale also. I think it's gonna be a hot year of racing for the BuRPs!

OvalmanPA 11-01-2003, 07:28 PM here is another one, why do you run foam tires on carpet? can you use rubber? also, would it be alright if i ran a 1/10 scale indy car, the delphi duratrax one in particular, or won't there be many people doing 1/10? I hate to sound like an idiot, but i just got used to the dirt/nitro thing. electric might as well be Japanese. i was thinkin about the Delphi, because its prebuilt for about $65. ya'll let me now what ya think. i'm open for suggestions. Thanks all.
Todd......yea what Chris said and, and don't take this the wrong way but....... Look at your present predicament with your nitro truck. Nobody else has anything like it so parts are few and far between except for ordering them. I don't mean that in a harsh way but ask Michael Button about having a car that nobody else has. I'm sure he would steer you more toward a "main stream" item also. Besides, the only class you could run it in is in fact Production because it is a pan type car with direct drive so it doesn't exactly fit into the TC catagory. :(
canbquik 11-01-2003, 09:20 PM nice save K1m!!!
EvaderAndy 11-02-2003, 11:06 AM I agree with rick try and find a car that alot of people run like losi or assoiated. Because last year there was 2 evaders so rick started to buy parts for them for the parts wall but the other evader guy switch to a matt francis so as far as I know I'm the only duratrax veichle out there I just hope rick keeps my parts on his wall mostly talking about hub carriers, knukles, and front arms.
OvalmanPA 11-02-2003, 03:31 PM Andy........I'll make sure I keep them on the wall, especially since I have a brand new Evader sitting in the shop just waiting to be bought. :) There ya go Todd, $160 and you'll have everything but the batteries and charger!
EvaderAndy 11-02-2003, 04:50 PM evaders are the best as the saying goes duratrax.. more bang for your buck!
Polli 11-03-2003, 12:49 PM I got a few question about slamming a truck or buggy, do ya use the original shocks? What would happen if I tried using the shocks from my triple x s? Since they are shorter and have stiffer springs on them. Also when I stretched the foam tires over the rims, the foam kinda rippled. Is this normal? :freak:
Sugar Daddy 11-03-2003, 01:27 PM I am using the stock shocks on my buggy. I just used stiffer springs. Touring car shocks won't work unless you make custom shock towers front and back. The stock ones are too tall to use short shocks. As for the foams, when I put them on my wheels, I trimed them to fit width and then streched them on. They didn't wrinkle. If it helps, you can go to my site and see the pics of the buggy to see how I did it. Site (http://sdr.vze.com)
OvalmanPA 11-03-2003, 02:12 PM Like Sugar D said Polli, if you use shorter shock towers on your buggy then they'll work but I think you'll find that if you try it without them you're going to be dragging chassis. There was a guy selling custom made shorter towers on eBay out of blue fiberglass if you want to check it out. Don't quite know what you mean with the foam thing.
Sugar D......I have a check over here for you and that battery jig is waiting also. Well actually, the check is made out to Shannon Powell............guess we got a new name for you.
Sugar Daddy 11-03-2003, 02:16 PM Thanks Rick. How much is that check for? I can't remember what they said that they were paying.
If this keeps up, I'm going to be in a nice padded room talking to my 28 different personalities!!! :freak:
scooby_cakes 11-04-2003, 12:07 AM Hey Rick and everone
It looks like I missed out on a great summer racing season  , the reason being I got a new Suzuki GSX-R Motorcycle and if i wasn't earning money to pay for it lol I was riding it. I had to get rid of most of my R/c stuff to make the down payment on it, so i'm looking for a few "Pre Swap Meet" items if anyone has them. I need a ESC (a novak cyclone would make me :D ), a Radio, some matched packs, a nice stock motor, an ac/dc charger, and a metal gear servo. So if anyone is looking to sell some extra ones of these, let me know. As of now, personally all i have is a Losi XXXT with those custom blue fiberglass shock towers that rick mentioned before. Thanks and hope to see you guys over the winter
Polli 11-04-2003, 01:44 AM I dunno, the tires just don't look right, like if ya look at them from behind the car, the tops of the tires look like a ), smiley face! And if ya look from the side, then it looks like a few smiley faces side by side. Not all flat and squared up like low profile tires should be. Like I say, I dunno, should I do some cuttin?
Sugar Daddy 11-04-2003, 09:20 AM When I did my tires, I trimed them so that they are just as wide as the rim. As far as looking at them from the side and seeing the wrinkles, I don't know, mine lay flat. Did you cut the inside ribs off the rim?
OvalmanPA 11-04-2003, 02:08 PM That's my question, you did dremel off the two inner plastic ribs did you not? When looking at the rim from the end it will look like this http://www.racersedgerc.com/images/wheel2.gif without those center ribs otherwise the wheel looks like this http://www.racersedgerc.com/images/wheel1.gif.
Sugar D.........can't remember how much the check is for but I'll look and get back to you.
Scooby........yep you did miss an excellent outdoor season. Seems like everyone liked the changes we made. Maybe we'll see you this winter.
scoutout02 11-04-2003, 06:56 PM do they make buggy or truck sized tires mounted and trued? or would we be allowed to use touring car tires?
If the width of the donuts is alot wider than the width of the wheels, and you scrunch them between the outside beads, they'll wrinkle up and not lay smooth. What wheels are you using, Polli - buggy or truck?
Tire tip: The best way I've found to stretch 1/10 donuts on 2.2 truck rims is to use a large table spoon to kind of shoe horn them on. You can get it between the tire & rim and run it around so the tire lays nice and flat. Go slow...nothing worse than ripping a brand new tire!
You can use 1/10 front donuts for buggy front rims (not as wide) and you could use touring car tires, but they'll be alittle narrow. I don't know anyone selling foam tires mounted on buggy rims, but you can still buy truck foams mounted:
http://www.teamtrinity.com/prodlist.asp?section=57
Look for them at your LHS......
johnqpublic 11-04-2003, 09:34 PM Kimborough makes a "tire horn" that works well to stretch the tires on to 2.0" wheels. Problem is, its a little too small for the 2.2"s. What I did was find an old round powersteering fluid bottle and cut off the "cone" on the neck of the bottle...works just like the horn.
Sugar Daddy 11-04-2003, 09:36 PM Hey Polli, Rick told me about this site. They sell buggy foams on rims.
Foams (http://www.tm-rc-racingcomponents.com/buggiesFrame1Source1.htm)
JohnQ: good to see your still around! I've also heard an airplane spinner the right size works for a tire horn, but I like your idea. Those are the best - american ingenuity! You gonna try and race with us this winter?
Polli 11-05-2003, 12:41 AM I'm using buggy tires and yes I cut off the inner plastic ribs, and no they are not smooooshed between the outer ribs. The horn ideas sound cool, I will give them a try, more n likely just taking the foams off and starting over. Now for a paint question. I finally figured out a paint scheme after about 2 months of staring at the fobia body. I layed down the purple, and to my disgust, it bled through the masking tape, into where a brighter color will be. Is there a way to fix this or am I gonna be stuck w a stupid lookin xxx body?
canbquik 11-05-2003, 07:56 AM depends on the paint you used. If it is Fascolor, just take a Q-tip, dip it in water and CAREFULLY go along the edge and remove the bleed through  If you used Pactra can paint , then your only option is a carefully placed PINSTRIPE on the outside of the body!!!!!
OvalmanPA 11-05-2003, 11:49 AM do they make buggy or truck sized tires mounted and trued? or would we be allowed to use touring car tires?
Todd..see Sugar Daddys post about a company that makes foam tires for buggies. TRC still makes mounted and trued foams for trucks and I have some here. Depending on the class you are running, you can use TC foams. If you are going to run 2wd stock then you can use buggy wheels/tires, pancar wheels/tires, touring car wheels/tires or a combination of these.
Polli....if you don't have a acrylic water based paint then your screwed man. Like Chris said you'll have to use some well placed stickers.
OvalmanPA 11-05-2003, 11:56 AM Hello Racers!,
We had a great outdoor season and it seemed everyone liked the new track and once done, the drivers stand. There were a few new people throughout the year and some great racing action every week. It’s that time of year though to break out the foam tires
and get ready to lay it down indoor on the carpet track. You’ll notice that we won’t be getting started as early as we normally do unfortunately. This is due to the 4-H Center being in use on November 9th so we can’t get in until after that to clean, prepare everything, and get the carpet laid down. I know if you are like me you have the racing
itch pretty bad but there isn’t anything we can do about this. Anyway...
This year we will be getting the season started off with our beginning of season swap meet on Saturday, November 22nd at 6:00PM. Dig out all those items you want to part with or stop over and see if you can pick up that used item you’re in need of before the season begins. Sunday, November 23rd will be the first race of the season. Break out
those new bodies that you’ve been working on the last few months as we’ll be having our usual concours competition before we get started racing. Just like last year, we’ll be starting at 12:00 and we ask that you PLEASE register by 11:15 so we have plenty of time to get you in the computer. You can catch the rest of the schedule below but we will
be having a mid season double points race like last year and of course the end of season swap meet.
We have a couple changes to classes this year. We have broken the BuRP class up as we had a few people want to run for points. We now have Open BuRP and Fun BuRP. You can check out the included rules sheet for full details but just as a preview, Open BuRP will be run with points and will be an oval only class. Fun BuRP will be mainly
unchanged from the class we ran last year except that in the case of no other road course classes we have the option of running oval. We also made a change to the Stock truck class. The chassis MUST be a stock item, no repositioning of battery or lightening of chassis will be allowed. Please look over the included rules sheet to familiarize yourselves with the full rules for each class.
Winter Schedule
November 22 - Swap meet - 6:00PM
November 23 - First race
December 7 - Points begin
January 25 - Mid season double points/double racer bucks race
March 21 - Final points race
March 27 - Swap meet - 6:00PM
March 28 - Final race/trophy day
We look forward to seeing all of you again this winter and look forward to having a very good year. As always we will have some good eats available to keep you fueled through the day. See everyone soon!
Rick and Johna
EvaderAndy 11-05-2003, 09:04 PM HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY , RICK ! :hat:
From ,
Evader Andy and Family
Polli 11-06-2003, 12:48 AM Unfortunatley I used oil based paint, and to make things worse it was too cold for the paint to stick when I did the next colors. Oh well it's a learning thing. 18 dollars of pure ugliness!!
HAPPY B-B DAY RICK!!
Thats why they make so many different stickers Polli.
OvalmanPA 11-06-2003, 02:41 PM You used an oil based paint.............ewe...........bad, bad Polli. BTW, I have some Pactra spray bombs over here now if you are interested. Not every color but 12 different ones. I can see the paint flakes all over our carpet already this year.
Thanks for the birthday wishes guys.........I think. lol
Polli 11-08-2003, 02:13 AM yeh, I used Pactra spray bombs... I was guessing that they were oil based cuz I was pretty sure that it wasn't acyrlic water based cuz it didn't come off w water. Says on the label to mix rc thinner w rubbing alcohol to remove over spray. Found out on a scrap piece of lexan that straight thinner melts it.
scoutout02 11-12-2003, 06:44 PM does anyone have a cheap buggy they wanna part with? i'm runnin out of ideas, so if everyone runs buggy or truck, i'll just get one of those. ty
EvaderAndy 11-12-2003, 10:17 PM ricks selling adams truck, buggy and 4wd buggy on the swap eletric it's called Go team losi?
Sugar Daddy 11-13-2003, 11:41 AM Hey Rick, I'm not sure what the weather is doing over at your house right now, but here in Kane, it's nasty. :drunk: I guess we got the carpets over there just in time!
OvalmanPA 11-13-2003, 02:31 PM Todd.......I don't know what Adam would take for just the buggy but I'm sure it wouldn't be "cheap" per say. :) Right now he's wanting to sell it all together but if it's not gone by next weekend at the swap you could talk to him about it there.
OvalmanPA 11-13-2003, 02:33 PM Hey Rick, I'm not sure what the weather is doing over at your house right now, but here in Kane, it's nasty. :drunk: I guess we got the carpets over there just in time!
Shaun......it's pretty nasty over here too. Took a trip up the road to get my daily excersise this morning and had a harder time coming back than going up! Looks like I picked the best day of the week to get it done.
scoutout02 11-13-2003, 07:36 PM i didn't mean like $50 or anything, lol. i think he said he would sell them separate, but i forgot the price. whats he want for all three?
OvalmanPA 11-14-2003, 02:10 PM Lowest he said he'd go is $350.
scoutout02 11-15-2003, 07:27 PM what time is the meet next saturday?
Hello Racers!,
I know if you are like me you have the racing
itch pretty bad but there isn’t anything we can do about this. Anyway...
This year we will be getting the season started off with our beginning of season swap meet on Saturday, November 22nd at 6:00PM.
How bad have you got it?
I know alot of "bench racing" went on here today, for sure. Should be another great year of carpet racing. So far it looks like we will be concentrating on racing 1/18 scale, I have the best of intentions of cleaning up my XXX-T too, but so far it hasn't happened.
canbquik 11-15-2003, 11:47 PM I know I feel like I went at least 500 laps
Sugar Daddy 11-16-2003, 01:53 AM I know I feel like I went at least 500 laps
:( I never got out of the pits!
scoutout02 11-16-2003, 09:47 AM so is anyone gonna be runnin there buggies? or does it look like pretty much just BRP?
scoutout02 11-16-2003, 10:45 AM I was lookin on the BRP site, i see they have a LTO chasis for $70. it says conversion, but does it come with anything else wheels, suspention...ect?
scout:
The LTO and PRO are graphite chassis upgrades for the SC18.
scoutout02 11-16-2003, 11:05 AM so you have to buy all the other parts, hubs, springs ect...?
canbquik 11-16-2003, 11:12 AM don't worry there will be buggies run, I'm going to run my buggy, Steve is running buggy, Shaun is running his, and there will be others too.
scoutout02 11-16-2003, 11:26 AM cool, might take me a while to get it together. i was just wondering about the BRP because they look like they would be fun.
Sugar Daddy 11-16-2003, 12:06 PM Scoutout02, I just picked up a BuRP and plan on running it in the fun class along with my buggy. You might want to check them out, I think that they are going to be a blast! Plus it's only $2 to run the BuRP! Just have to come up with a paint scheme.
EvaderAndy 11-16-2003, 01:13 PM if anyone hasn't allready noticed but on that new commerical for listerine look on the kictchen table.. The boy is working on some stadium truck proably xxxt or t3 or t4 but it's there.... Probably trying to get some more publicity
scoutout02 11-17-2003, 09:32 PM hi all, again. couple more questions. what compound tires do ya'll use, front / back. on your BRPs? and what sort of ESC would be best?
OvalmanPA 11-17-2003, 10:20 PM hi all, again. couple more questions. what compound tires do ya'll use, front / back. on your BRPs? and what sort of ESC would be best?
Whatever comes stock (can't remember right now) and an Futaba MC230CR ESC.
Sugar Daddy 11-17-2003, 10:33 PM Stock BuRP tires are orange front and blue backs.
