Savage21 08-15-2003, 05:52 PM I will have a surprise at the fair tomorrow! You will just have to wait and see! I know that you will like it!  scoutout02 08-15-2003, 07:39 PM what time are we starting tommorow? also, Rick, please bring me some maxi go juice if you still have it. OvalmanPA 08-15-2003, 10:18 PM Savage21...........good lord man what have ya gotten yourself now??? :jest: Todd.........I got your message off the machine and the Maxy fuel is all boxed up with the rest of the stuff I plan to bring. We are scheduled to start at 1:00. And with that, time to watch the back of my eyelids......zzzzzzzzz. Knoxville 08-16-2003, 06:36 PM savage 21 i could not make it to the fair race so what is it that you got k1m 08-17-2003, 06:19 PM  The Fair race was a huge sucess again this year as usual. The weather was threatening to say the least, but with some positive thinking, alittle perseverence, and a slight delay, dirt oval racing was a big hit at MCFR again. The track had LOTS of traction, the variety of food at the Fair is pretty hard to beat, and hundreds of people got a look at what R/C racing is all about. Pic #1 - track packers Pic #2 - the track & pits Pic #3 - looks like rain k1m 08-17-2003, 06:25 PM Pic #4 - track packers part 2 Pic #5 - Monster Truck lineup OvalmanPA 08-17-2003, 09:18 PM k1m didn't post the best one. I'll have it from a couple different angles tomorrow. Great day for racing even if we did have a couple showers and have to "run the track in" a couple times. Nothing quite like seeing nitro trucks with nothing distingushable but the body line itself. I'll post the full results and those pics tommorrow evening. The new drivers stand is all but done and I think everyone will be happy. You can REALLY see the track well now! Knoxville 08-17-2003, 09:48 PM hey ovalman those video's are awesome those twin .21 are cool i gotta build me one of them :D :D canbquik 08-17-2003, 10:13 PM juiced the nitro up with the Byron's, set the high and low, and ran three tanks without a hitch  who says all fuel is the same? Savage21 08-17-2003, 10:28 PM That's why I was really worried about going to O'Donnel fuel. Didn't know how the engine was going to react. Glad you got it running good now. Knoxville 08-17-2003, 10:55 PM hey oval man i was thinkin wouldnt the rear foam tires for the xxxt work on the front also even though they are alittle bigger i am new to electric and i was just wondering if that would work?? oh yah and where can u get your comm cut do you guys have a lathe or do you take it some where?? OvalmanPA 08-18-2003, 02:08 PM Knoxville........you can run the same sized foams front and rear, as a matter of fact that is recommended but the wheels themselves are different. The fronts have bearings in the wheels and the rears fit to the axle with a pin so they don't just spin on the axle. I have a lathe to cut motors for anyone at the shop. The charge is $5 and includes cleaning out the can/endbell and reserrating the brushes. Canbquik........still say if you had a choice you shoulda tried the Maxys of the two we had there. Haven't tried it myself yet (quad gonna be running again soon) but it seems to be pretty reliable for Todd. Glad all is well now though. OvalmanPA 08-18-2003, 02:13 PM Even with a little rain it was a fun day. Got to run a couple packs through the "new" Maxx and it ran REALLY well, I was pleased. The longest traveled award had to go to Vinnie. The dude traveled down here all the way from Buffalo to race! :freak: Racers Edge R/C Racing & Hobbies - AUGUST 16, 2003 -- Production - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 2 32 4:03.44 Joy Fortner 11 2 3 31 4:01.06 Brandon Covert 5 3 1 30 4:06.86 Brent Harris 12 -- Production - B MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 3 29 4:00.90 Aaron Lyon 20 2 2 28 4:00.55 Chad McCool 13 -- 1 --- DNS --- David Lowe 16 -- Modified truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 1 31 4:03.29 Todd Steinberg 7 2 2 30 4:02.67 Vinnie Lamarco 21 -- 5 --- DNS --- Chris Burrows 28 -- 3 --- DNS --- Ben Keesee 19 -- 4 --- DNS --- Bobby Swanson 17 -- Stock truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 7 34 4:00.75 Johna Simar 24 2 1 34 4:03.55 Kim Fortner 10 3 2 33 4:04.30 Don Weimer 14 -- 2wd modified - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 2 33 4:00.81 Chris Burrows 29 2 1 31 4:06.98 Paul Burlingame 18 3 7 30 4:02.86 Johna Simar 25 -- Offroad - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 5 24 4:00.47 Rick Morgan 23 2 2 21 4:01.78 Vinnie Lamarco 22 3 1 16 4:09.88 Todd Steinberg 8 -- 3 --- DNS --- Chris Burrows 26 -- Maxx Oval - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id 1 2 33 4:05.11 Don Weimer 15 2 4 31 4:06.27 Chris Burrows 27 3 1 31 4:07.19 Kim Fortner 9 4 3 18 3:38.86 Shaun Powell 6 OvalmanPA 08-18-2003, 02:27 PM Cost to enter the only dirt oval race of the year: $9 (including gate fee) Broom to sweep away water puddles: $10 Watching k1m play in the mud to prep track: PRICELESS! This is what you would commonly call a dedicated R/C racer. Either that or he's nuts! I still wish we coulda gotten the money shot of him goin' on his hinny but it never happened. :jest: Good job Kim! Savage21 08-18-2003, 06:09 PM Hey Kim, do you have a bigger pic of Chris and I going around packing the track? If you do, can you email it to me? Thanks. savage21@verizon.net k1m 08-18-2003, 08:22 PM Ovalman: I'd like to think alittle of both. I'm alittle suprised at the lap stats. I don't keep that close of track during the race. Johna's truck sure came to life for the main, huh? What'd ya do, slip her one of those new fangled batterys? The only thing I did to my XXXT was dial alittle more camber into the right side as it was pretty much still setup for off road, except for gearing of course. She ran a good clean race and deserved the win. I have to say though, the EMaxx race seemed the most exciting. Those monsters are a handful at those speeds. The crowd sure enjoyed all that action. I'm surprised no one landed on that "white" stationwagon that was parked off turn 3 & 4! Joy said canbquick looked like he needed a hug.....I thought about buyin me one of those weedeaters once....I hit my thumb with a hammer instead! :D  Savage: ygm Savage21 08-18-2003, 09:22 PM White wagon? OH, you mean the "two tone" sitting at the corner! Thanks for the pics! Knoxville 08-18-2003, 11:28 PM ok ovalman im proablly being a pain in the @$$ by askin all these questions but i have a set of matt francis or however you spell his name wheels and i was wondering if i could put foams on them i have the ones for the front and the back, and thats cool about the lathe, another question when i got my xxxt it has a 19 turn motor will that put me in the stock class?? and i more question  does your store carry 3000 mah batteries if so how much will it set me back?? sorry for all the questions oh yah and i finally sold my savage!!! OvalmanPA 08-19-2003, 12:51 PM k1m......all she did was a last minute adjustment to the front shock collars and she said it helped a LOT. Ol' XXT still runs good, especially for using 1700s. LOL Knoxville.......no problem on the questions. This way you'll be all prepaired for your first race. Yes you can use the Matt Francis wheels to put foams on. As it says on our website, you'll just need to remove the two inner plastic ribs and stretch them aboard. A 19 turn motor will put you in the modified class and for a first timer, to be quite honest, you'll get spanked and frustrated. :( You'd be better off getting a 540 Production motor and starting off with the beginners. Trust me, in the long run, you'll learn to drive much quicker with less power than even a stock motor provides. People hate to hear that but it is completely true. As for 3000s. I have three packs left marked down to our cost so I can hopefully sell them. They are $45 a pack, unassembled so you will also need battery bars, wire, and connectors to build them. Most everyone is going with GP3300 packs now. Have any more ?s, ask away. Knoxville 08-19-2003, 11:20 PM yea ovalman i think you right i will proablly end up getting some foams from you and what about a 540 any suggestions on what u have in stock im lookin forward to racing in doors i proably wont be able to make it to any of the last off road races so i will proably start off with the indoor racing cause i have to buy some things like foams and a motor and some battery packs and it might take me a while so thanks for helping me on the questions ttyl!! :) OvalmanPA 08-20-2003, 02:08 PM Knoxville.......the two most popular 540 motors are the Tamiya "black" Sport tuned motor and the Traxxas Stinger. Both of these motors work very well. I have a standard old 540 silver canned motor in our track truck however and it works pretty well. Right now I don't have any of the Tamiya motors in stock but I have both of the others. EvaderAndy 08-20-2003, 02:22 PM Knoxville I race production and on carpet I used a tamiya "Black" 540 motor and it did real well I even used it for 2-3 weeks of off-road when some people went threw 4-5 motors a season i think there gearing or someing was causing it tho. but the stinger has a little more kick to it. but the tamiya motor & the Traxxas are pretty comepetive with the right setups. Knoxville 08-20-2003, 11:07 PM ok thanks everyone for the info ovalman how much is the tamiya black motor and when do u think you will get it in stock?? i dont know when i will be able to get it casue i gotta buy batteries and stuff but hopefully b4 carpet season opens casue i wanna race :D OvalmanPA 08-21-2003, 12:34 PM They are $19.50 and I'll be ordering more in my next order I send out which is Mondays. Knoxville 08-21-2003, 10:17 PM ok i will proably get one when i get some cash  OvalmanPA 08-22-2003, 07:29 PM Ah, I love the smell of cotton candy in the afternoon. Y'all will have things a little more pleasant when Savage21 is running on the track now. He's the first guinea pig to try out the new "smells" from Parma. I have to admit, it's a lot nicer than smelling benol that's for sure. Maybe we'll start making it mandatory that you have to run one of those scents if you wanna run nitro. :jest: scoutout02 08-22-2003, 08:01 PM lol...thats descrimination ovalman. we don't tell you to make engine sounds with your mouths as you go around the track now do we?;) seriously though, i recently aquired an AE RC12 from my buddy for the winter, and was wondering how many batteries 1/12 scale usually runs. 4,5, or 6? 3000 or 3300? Savage21 08-22-2003, 08:08 PM I'll be sure that everyone gets a good smell as I'm flying around the track! That is if I can get the mud off my truck! Man, that stuff stickes like glue. It's still on the body after I scrubed it! OvalmanPA 08-22-2003, 09:12 PM lol...thats descrimination ovalman. we don't tell you to make engine sounds with your mouths as you go around the track now do we?;) seriously though, i recently aquired an AE RC12 from my buddy for the winter, and was wondering how many batteries 1/12 scale usually runs. 4,5, or 6? 3000 or 3300? How did you know I sometimes make engine noises when I'm running my cars????? WHO TOLD????? THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SECRET!!!! :jest: :jest: 1/12 scale bat #s. 2400, 3000, 3300, whatever and 4 of them puppies. You going to make it over Sunday? k1m 08-22-2003, 09:13 PM  Geez.... that nitro smell is about the only thing I like about gas! Next thing you know it'll be "springtime fresh" or "potpourri"! Hehehe! What about a pipe that makes them sound like a real engine instead of a bee trapped in a paper cup? LOL scout: 1/12 scale pancars usually run 4 of the best cells money can buy. OvalmanPA 08-22-2003, 09:15 PM I'll be sure that everyone gets a good smell as I'm flying around the track! That is if I can get the mud off my truck! Man, that stuff stickes like glue. It's still on the body after I scrubed it! See, and you said that mud was no problem. What'd you do with the air filter and how'd it run after I left? Savage21 08-22-2003, 10:54 PM Ran good till I blew a shock end off. Not sure what I'm going to do with the air filter. I don't want to put the stock back on. Ah heck, I'll run without one! :jest: After all, I finally got a fuel filter. OvalmanPA 08-22-2003, 11:08 PM Knowing you, I wouldn't doubt you'll try it! You'll probably need that new .26 sooner than expected though. scoutout02 08-22-2003, 11:11 PM i hope, but it looks like i might have family stuff to do. adelphia picnic. damnit, and i got the 2 speed tranny bak in. trashedmaxx 08-23-2003, 07:08 AM Just wondering if you guys are racing on sunday? And has dean been coming down with his 1/8 buggy. OvalmanPA 08-23-2003, 01:23 PM Mike I think we should finally be able to get a week of racing in this Sunday. Nobodies been here for three weeks because of the weather and the Fair race so this'll be the first week back at it in that time so I dunno if Dean will be bringing it or not. Polli 08-23-2003, 01:48 PM Hi ovalman, just wondering if triple x wheels will fit on a double x? OvalmanPA 08-23-2003, 06:45 PM Think that one was already answered on the phone but, yep they do. :) Savage21 08-23-2003, 08:48 PM Sorry guys, can't make it tomorrow. Too many bills, not enough pay. Next time you can smell my cotton candy fury!  OvalmanPA 08-24-2003, 10:01 PM So how many cushions did you have to lift to make it over today? Unfortunatly now you have to do some more digging to come up with the cash to fix the truck. :( Great turnout today and a GREAT day for racing. Talk about beautiful weather! We couldn't ask for anything better. Best race of the day had to be the first few laps of the nitro maxx main, that is until savage21s Savage spit a broken drive shaft out so he only had front wheel drive. :) I'll post full results tomorrow. EvaderAndy 08-24-2003, 10:02 PM today was asome! the new driver stand was perfect  there was alot of classes and some new faces to. I have some pic's of today I'm going try and put some on later tonight :D EvaderAndy 08-24-2003, 10:38 PM another great sunday here's the track for people who never been to ricks or haven't see the new driver stand & the nitro,E-maxx races. EvaderAndy 08-24-2003, 10:48 PM all Savage21 needs is his radio Rick just doing his thing. Savage21 08-25-2003, 01:35 PM Well, let's see.... I went through my couch and chair, then my mom's couch, then my sister's, then my neighbor's..... Hey Andy, next week my chair is going on the stand and then I'll have my radio! By the way, if I can't get a new drive shaft, I'll have to go back to the short wheel-base again. I have a shaft for that! I don't think that it will break??? OvalmanPA 08-25-2003, 03:31 PM Boy must be everybody had some chances to tune on things the last three weeks because we ended up with 4 new track records. First to go was the Stock buggy record. Adam Hamilton showed the way in the main and just squeaked in a new record with a run of 11/4:24.14. Next to go was the Stock truck record formerly held by myself. Tom himes put up a real good run in the second qualifier and smashed my record by a lap. 11/4:22.65 My rein of record holding didn't end there as Courtney Morse showed up with a spankin' new EMaxx and smoked my record with a run of 10/4:19.72 Last on the list of records was for the Nitro Maxx class. Tom Himes was on a tear and lowered his previous record with a run of 14/6:05.96, down 5 seconds from his previous record. A great day it was for some off road racing. I hope the rest of the season proves to be as nice as this race was. It was good to see everybody after our short season intermission while the weather got straightened out and it seemed like everyone liked the new drivers stand. I know I have to get used to driving from up in the air now though! -- Production - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 2 9 4:26.85 Joy Fortner 21 8.34 2 3 8 4:00.54 Andy Eaton 7 8.23 3 4 8 4:25.38 Jason Dibell 24 7.46 4 6 7 4:06.64 Troy Miller 34 7.02 5 1 6 4:26.57 Chad McCool 5 5.57 6 5 3 1:44.38 Brent Harris 25 7.11 -- Stock buggy - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 0 11 4:24.14 Adam Hamilton 28 10.30 2 8 9 4:15.97 Steve Tarbox 12 8.70 3 2 9 4:31.59 Polli Burlingame 32 8.20 4 1 8 3:49.58 Tim Mackey 6 8.62 -- Electric Maxx - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 5 10 4:25.39 Rick Morgan 2 9.32 2 9 9 4:02.79 Courtney Morse 4 9.17 3 8 9 4:13.93 Kim Fortner 19 8.77 4 4 9 4:29.16 Chris Burrows 16 8.27 -- Electric Maxx - B MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 3 9 4:23.83 Andy Eaton 8 8.44 2 1 8 4:03.66 Mike Barrett 22 8.12 -- 7 --- DNS --- Don Weimer 11 0.00 -- Stock truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 0 11 4:22.74 Adam Hamilton 27 10.36 2 6 10 4:01.41 Tom Himes 30 10.25 3 5 10 4:20.07 Rick Morgan 1 9.51 4 1 9 4:00.54 Dean Gordon 14 9.26 -- Stock truck - B MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 8 10 4:15.95 Kim fortner 20 9.66 2 1 10 4:23.32 Jason Okerlund 26 9.39 3 3 9 4:28.88 Mike Barrett 23 8.28 -- 7 --- DNS --- Don Weimer 10 0.00 -- 1/10 Nitro truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 4 14 6:33.49 Chris Burrows 18 8.80 2 1 8 6:17.17 Todd Steinberg 29 5.24 -- Nitro Maxx - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 6 14 6:18.43 Tom Himes 31 9.15 2 1 13 6:15.60 Shaun Powell 9 8.56 3 8 12 6:05.94 Steve Tarbox 13 8.11 -- 4wd buggy - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 4 10 4:10.10 Chris Burrows 17 9.89 2 9 10 4:16.00 Courtney Morse 3 9.66 3 1 10 3:46.37 Dennis Himes 33 10.93 4 0 3 1:21.89 Dean Gordon 15 9.06 OvalmanPA 08-25-2003, 03:38 PM Boy Shaun I never realized just how ugly you really are! :jest: :jest: And Deb at least you coulda gotten me from my good side, the back! Savage21 08-25-2003, 09:18 PM Hey Rick...
