LLB 05-24-2003, 09:22 PM Yeah, well, uh, anyways... According to the lastest weather... Only a 30% chance of rain for tommorow. Looks like the "boys" might get a chance to race... Us girls can shop regardless of the weather!!! canbquik 05-25-2003, 09:32 PM great day to race!!!! thanks,Don, for running the buggy. K1M, I feel your pain, man. :( Also, thanks for the arm that made it all possible!! Rick, just disappointed that we didn't get to break-in (torture) the new maxx. But don't worry, when it hits the track we'll be there to tire mark it!!!! OvalmanPA 05-26-2003, 12:23 PM Well it was a small crowd of eager racers that showed up for our first official race of the off road season and it seemed like everyone had a blast. The track conditions were absolutly PERFECT and even got better as the day went on. The elephant races were entertaining as always and I look forward to joining in on the "carnage" those guys created. K1M finally came to the conclusion I think that a donut isn't possible on the bridge. First points race of the summer season coming up next week. Look forward to seeing everyone again. We needed somebody to run with Michael and I was going to have Ma do it but she said why not let Devin. He didn't know he would race the track truck until about 20 seconds before we started the heats. :) He even won the second round of qualfying! EvaderAndy 05-27-2003, 03:33 PM Ya that's what I heard. I'll be over this week I got a way over just not a way back yet. michael button 05-27-2003, 03:34 PM ya i was suprised he beat me the second time, it was a close race all the way to the to the end, hoping to keep the track record but it depends on how well andy does this season. EvaderAndy 05-28-2003, 07:10 AM Hoping to keep the track record but it depends on how well andy does this season. very true cause I don't know how well these other monster beetle tires will do but mike our racing carear this year should be very good competition. k1m 05-28-2003, 09:41 PM The first race was a learning experience. I like the new layout, the backstretch makes shifting a necessity and as I get more used to my new radio, I'm sure I'll be able to do better. Still feel like I need to look down at it to flip that 3rd channel but it's getting better already. The bridge is a neat obstacle, wish there was someway to corner marshall there without blocking the drivers view of that area of the track. (maybe smaller corner marshalls ;) ) As slippery as that plywood seems I couldn't believe we couldn't get some decent "cyclones" going! Have to work on that too I guess. With alittle more practice, and more competiton, I think the Maxx's can do 10 laps too. I learned alot doing all that corner marshalling also. There are some pretty challenging jumps this year, and even though it looks cool to make the triples, I think it's faster to double the first two and roll the third - especially if you land like a lawn dart lap after lap. My Maxx tends to come down rear first and then roll endo like a barrel if I try to triple them. I also relearned a lesson that I actually learned many years ago. I'm in the habit of running my Maxx up through the grass toward the shop after racing to clean some of the dirt of it. After the mains I ran it up the hill but when it came back down I was very suprised to see it hit a ditch with about 3" of water standing in it! With the grass growing there I couldn't even see the water until I hit it. The resulting splash was impressive but expensive. Water got into the ESC and fried it. I tried to quickly unplug it and turn it upside down, but it was really soaked. Learn from my mistake, kiddies! Water and electronics just don't mix! It's just purely STUPID to run R/C's anywhere near water unless it's a boat with waterproof electronics. Luckily I have an extra EVX due to some shrewd trading I did with CanBquick at the swap meet, so I'm back in business. And the people at Traxxas seemed more than eager to service it with a new transistor to replace the one that looks like a kernel of pop corn for $45 so we'll still have a spare. They say knowledge is priceless so I guess it's a deal... Stay away from the ditch! Racers should also be aware of the creek. If you get off the track on the backstretch, let the turn marshall get you. A bad glitch (runaway) there could put your vehicle into the water also. kanesurfguru 05-29-2003, 02:42 AM ALL IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!!!!!!! K1m, Isn't that what you told me, when I fried that ES01 in my BuRP, we all have to learn sometime. Good thing to know, NO ditch, no crick, NO WATER. Got it. Well I got the maxx working, kind of. We'll see. Is racing on this weekend? Didn't see anything advertised, so just wondering? canbquik 05-29-2003, 07:00 AM i'll be there with the maxx, truck, and buggy ( if anyone has a buggy there) EvaderAndy 05-29-2003, 05:19 PM Sounds like the there should be a nice crowd this week you can count on me this week let the racing begin!! k1m 05-29-2003, 08:26 PM ALL IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!!!!!!! Yeah, but this was just DUMBA$$! Sunday's not gonna work for me this week....oh well.... michael button 05-29-2003, 08:44 PM i'm hopping with my new set up i can get the edge on andy and be able to smoke him around the track, but i don't know he's pretty fast to if he would.nt keep doing noes dives into the jumps. OvalmanPA 05-30-2003, 01:00 PM K1M......I forgot about your deal with Chris. I figured you'd be out until you got another EVX. Never considered you already had one! I thought for a minute Don was going to have his in the crick when he was glitching so bad. :( KSG........you need to get out of Kane more often. We should have some fliers up in Smethport, Port, Bradford, and Olean by now if my faithful friends have put them up. Still working on other surrounding areas. johnqpublic 05-30-2003, 03:49 PM Rick, Speaking of flyers....I'm not sure how receptive they'd be to this but maybe you could get one up at the Specialty Shop in Portville. Along w/ being Cattaragus County's capital for "rice rockets" they do sell some R/C stuff (although I'm not sure how much business they actually do). They seem to be geared more towards T-Maxxes and the like. I stopped in there to look around, and they seemed nice enough. I'd be willing to ask, if I had one of those flyers! LOL! If anyone knows anybody that writes for one of the local rags (Times Horrible, etc.), maybe a story in the paper might generate some interest. Thats what got me started in R/C! A simple story w/ a picture or 2 might do wonders. k1m 05-30-2003, 08:01 PM :hat: Congrats to Donalbain & Lynnster! :hat: Donalbain 05-31-2003, 07:47 AM Thankyou, K1m! We couldn't be happier! :hat: Speaking of fliers, I think the Olean Mall is having a R/C Airplane show this weekend. Haven't confirmed. OvalmanPA 05-31-2003, 12:57 PM Yes definately congrats to Donalbain and wife. Looks like we'll have another female racer in years to come. :) Paul......I have the flier set up as a word doc now so I'll send it over your way. Previously I had it set up in Microshaft publisher and I dunno how many people have that. I'm going to be uploading it to the website soon too so anybody can print one out if they'd like. On the subject of a "rag" article. I've been going to contact the one woman that works for the Bradford Error about a possible article in the third section of the Saturday paper where they seem to do a lot of public interest pieces. We've a few times in the past had the local guy right in town take some pics of our end of year winners but they've mysteriously never made the paper. It's a rainy Saturday, maybe it's time to form an email to send off to her. Donalbain 05-31-2003, 02:02 PM Olean Mall does have a few R/C planes on display today, Saturday, and maybe Sunday. They had around 12 planes and 2-3 people on hand to talk to the masses. Also, the STARS Society is having a rally July 12&13th @ the Olean Municipal Airport from 10-5 both days. Full-scale traffic will be closed! $3 a carload, on site food, restrooms, camping, and craft display. Southern Tier Aero Radio Society (http://www.starsrc.org) Not too shabby. OvalmanPA 05-31-2003, 05:41 PM June 1st race is cancelled due to track conditions. We are now the proud owners of a swamp. EvaderAndy 05-31-2003, 06:12 PM Can I Bring a Boat or a submarine? OvalmanPA 06-01-2003, 04:49 PM Boat would have worked well yesterday. There were no puddles this morning surprisingly but it was WAY to wet to race on. Hopefully we can get next week in. canbquik 06-01-2003, 09:20 PM next week I may bring a little GAS with me, and I don't mean NATURAL!!!!! :D OvalmanPA 06-02-2003, 12:43 PM It would have to be something different because we ALL know you're full of "natural" gas. EvaderAndy 06-03-2003, 07:02 AM I saw your poster on your Racers edge site looks great but there's no point in taking them to school when the princple say's no posters on the wall because there's 2 day's of school left.I'm not sure where esle to hang them. OvalmanPA 06-03-2003, 12:52 PM Boy Andy, you must be a regular visitor to the site cause I just got that up there yesterday. :) Anyway, what Andy says is right. I uploaded the RER/CR&H flier to the website (www.racersedgerc.com). You can find it right on the opening page. If anybody knows anywhere to hang one up, feel free to print that thing out and do so. I'd appreciate all the help in spreading the word about the track I can get. I'm sure those of you coming to race would always like more competition too. ;) Thanks in advance guys! EvaderAndy 06-03-2003, 03:40 PM It's was werid after lunch I walked by the school pay phone and there was one of your flyers and I went and asked Brian if he put it up but he said Adams younger sister put it up. EvaderAndy 06-03-2003, 07:27 PM Rick, Your site is the first and last site Andy looks at every morning and night. It's a great site  This is Evader Andys mom if you didn't already guess . michael button 06-03-2003, 08:38 PM hey the same goes for me. OvalmanPA 06-04-2003, 11:40 AM Glad you guys enjoy it. :) Adam did take a few of the fliers and he didn't say where we was going to put them. Talk about a good place to plant a flier! I'll have to remember that one. :D tville 06-05-2003, 11:26 AM ovalman, what are we looking like for sunday? me and chase are planning on coming as long as the weather holds out. hope to see you guys then. OvalmanPA 06-05-2003, 02:21 PM Right now I've heard nice tomorrow, chance of sprinkles or a thunderstorm Saturday, and then pretty nice Sunday. If it looks bad up your way you might want to give us a call before coming just to be safe. EvaderAndy 06-05-2003, 03:02 PM Acording to the weather forcast at your site it's said it's going to be partly cloudly and in the low 70's. :D :D tville 06-06-2003, 09:48 AM ovalman, do you have any ifmar pins there for a truck? i need a set of tires and wheels for the t3. xxxt wheels will work also. if you have a set could you put them aside for me, i will get them sunday, thanks, pat OvalmanPA 06-06-2003, 01:31 PM Pat, I have them in silver and red compound. Also have T3 wheels available. They'll be here Sunday for you. Rick EvaderAndy 06-06-2003, 08:32 PM Hey Rick I'm bring a friend over this Sunday who's really interested in racing and he want's to use the track truck. How much does it cost to run it. OvalmanPA 06-06-2003, 09:45 PM Andy, tell him to bring $8 and we'll set him right up with the "factory ride" for the day. :jest: EvaderAndy 06-06-2003, 10:02 PM okay Thanks  canbquik 06-08-2003, 07:23 PM what a great day of racing!!!!! figured out the bog problem with the gas truck :freak: the clutch shoes were installed backwards!!!! Now, I'm ready to set the track record with the clutch working properly  OvalmanPA 06-08-2003, 07:41 PM Was an excellent day of racing, track came in beautifully once again. Now if I could just keep from coming up short or going to long I'd be all set. michael button 06-08-2003, 08:36 PM ya racing this week was great, now i need to figure a way to keep my receiver plug in's in. Savage21 06-08-2003, 09:42 PM Well, if you don't count breaking both trucks... I had a good day. I already have both fixed up and ready to run. I hope with my new front tires I can turn the truck with the front tires instead of the rears!! See you all next sunday! And Chris, that record will be MINE!!! Nil 06-08-2003, 11:06 PM Hey, G&G, a couple of questions. I've been looking over your site and thinking about a road trip. Now, those of you who've seen me drive at BRP know I'm not much good (contender in the C main (whoops, I mean D main) 'til I lost my battery). How does a XXX respond to a "tin can?" Production may be an viable class for me, since you don't seem to have a lot interest in stock buggy. I'm definitely not up to mod buggy, and not sure I want to invest in a truck yet. But, a tin can seems a bit slow, even for me. OvalmanPA 06-09-2003, 01:44 PM Hi Nil. Well it depends on the "tin can". :p We allow any 540 sealed endbell type motor so the Traxxas Stinger is allowed in this class. Over the years the Tamiya 540 sport tuned motor has been a pretty fast motor for the Production class also. However there seemed to be a bad run of them or something during our winter racing because we had a lot of them with problems. Gearing?, batteries?, driving style?, hits?, bad run of them?, we don't really know but there were quite a few go bad. I have a regular 540 silver can Mabuchi motor in our track truck and it scoots right along! I can imagine any of these motors in a buggy would be a fun choice. The only drawback to these motors is you have to "hog" out the motor plate somewhat to get them to fit because the bushing area is rather large. :( We'd be glad to have another racer stop by to have some fun with us. :) OvalmanPA 06-09-2003, 01:56 PM Had a better crowd for this weeks racing and as stated above, the track came in rather nicely for a great day of racing. We have three new track records to report. First Michael Button upped his record in the Production class with a run of 9/4:19.49. Michael also got the hard luck award for the day when he failed to finish his last lap in the main relagating him to third place. Those receiver plugs are a finicky bunch every now and then. :( Next up on the record board is k1m. He overtook the record set by canbquik 2 weeks ago in the Modified buggy class by running a 11/4:27.25. And finally, since k1m stole canbquiks record in Mod buggy he returned the favor in Electric Maxx by crushing k1ms previous 8 lap run with a 9/4:11.84. :D Great day guys and a special thanks to those that helped out whilst my partner was out of town. See everybody again this weekend...........weather permitting. Racers Edge R/C Racing & Hobbies - JUNE 8, 2003 -- Production - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 3 8 4:04.40 Andy Eaton 11 8.10 2 1 8 4:06.24 Laura Burrows 15 8.04 3 2 8 3:49.68 Michael Button 17 8.62 -- Stock buggy - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 2 9 4:04.26 Chase Steinbuhler 3 9.11 2 1 8 4:17.53 Tim Mackey 4 7.68 -- 4 --- DNS --- Pat Madden 5 0.00 -- Modified truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 0 11 4:12.97 Adam Hamilton 8 10.76 2 7 9 4:25.94 Jason Okerlund 19 8.37 3 1 8 4:10.61 Jason Rimer 7 7.90 -- Electric Maxx - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 7 9 4:11.84 Chris Burrows 13 8.84 2 8 6 3:03.86 Kim Fortner 9 8.07 -- Modified buggy - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph -- 8 --- DNS --- Kim Fortner 10 0.00 -- 7 --- DNS --- Chris Burrows 14 0.00 -- Stock truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 4 10 4:14.90 Pat Madden 6 9.70 2 2 10 4:16.61 Chase Steinbuhler 2 9.64 3 5 9 4:12.57 Rick Morgan 1 8.81 4 1 8 4:17.53 Steve Tarbox 18 7.68 -- 1/10 Nitro truck - A MAIN -- pos car laps time name id avg.mph 1 7 14 6:44.36 Chris Burrows 12 8.56 2 1 1 0:03.93 Shaun Powell 16 62.81 EvaderAndy 06-09-2003, 01:57 PM Hey Nil I'm a production driver oval and off-road the motors aren't as fast but the gearing on oval is! OvalmanPA 06-09-2003, 05:58 PM Guys, I have a request if you would? I had a customer buy a new XXXT RTR kit from us on Sunday. He went to throw horseshoes at Hanley Park in Bradford and never thought to lock the doors in his van. The brand new truck was stolen while he was there. Please keep a look out for anyone that all of a sudden shows up with a brand new XXXT RTR kit or is looking to get rid of one cheap. If anything seems suspicious let me know and I'll have the guy check into it. He said he called the police about it so maybe they'll be able to help him out. I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe the truck in question was a "yellow" bodied model. k1m 06-09-2003, 11:12 PM Beautiful day to race, huh?.....I can hardly believe there are still doubters but the Collective Desire to Race prevailed once again! The EMaxx "elephant race" was exciting, comical, and brutal as usual even with just two entries. CanBquick was Da Man for sure this week, must be that aero package he's running.... ;) (see pic) I'm still having some trouble shifting with my new radio, I should practice...ended up busting a rear tierod in the main that gave me one wheel rear steer, but I still couldn't drive it. About all I could do was drag it into his way, but even that didn't slow him down.... :D Didn't get to race the XX-4 much but it seems like it would run OK if I could drive it. I kinda like the truck body, it doesn't jump as well as it does with the buggy body,(probably why it never caught on) but I've had it quite a while. Running VERY hot though, 12d geared 19/84...I went to 17/84 seemed better. Michael: try putting a piece of tape over the reciever's plugs/wires to help hold them in, it'll help keep dirt out of the empty battery plug socket on your reciever too. Also, make sure none of the pins are coming loose in the plugs (try and pull them out one at a time). Was tville there this week? Savage: looks like you need more MPG...or a bigger tank? Nil: If you drive clear out here from Ohio to race with us, we'll run stock buggys or SOMETHING! We'll definately keep our eye out and nose to the wind about that dude's XXX-T, what a heartbreak huh? If the oxygen wasting thief hasn't sold it already he may sit on it a while, so we need to keep it in mind....that Bradford's a rough town, you gotta watch those guys.... :jest: (canBquick lives in Bradford) tville 06-10-2003, 10:54 AM i was there, i raced stock buggy and stock truck. i was the one that jumped the otherside of the track in stock truck, it was not planned just happened that way, but at least i got chase, we always have a good rivalry between the 2 of us. it is fun to mess with him. i broke my stock buggy on the first lap of the 2nd heat and i didn't have the parts to fix it. i broke the same part a week b4 and never replaced them. i talked to glenn at hooter chassis and hobby and he wants to come over and race at least once this summer. he is busy pulling but he said he wants to come over. i had fun sunday, hope to get back soon. i love the new track layout, it is awesome, see you guys soon vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
