I got a question my 20 turn stock motor seems to over heat before I go through half a 1700 and the car automacticlly shut down power to the drive. How do I stop it or clean it ?

Sounds like you are experiencing "thermal shutdown" Andy where the ESC will get to hot and shut itself off before it overheats to much and burns up. You aren't running the same gearing as you did indoors are you? With those big tires on there you'll have to gear way down to make sure things don't get to hot. Even with a 1700 you should watch how hot you get things. I wouldn't run for more than 5 minutes at a time before letting things cool down.

Running through grass and everything also? Next time it does it reach right in and grab hold of the heat sinks on the ESC and tell us how "warm" they are. :p

Well guys contruction has begun on the new track layout so if the weather holds it shouldn't be long now before you can at least come do a little practicing. Going to be a whole new design and if everything goes well I hope everyone is happy. If anybody here ever watches supercross you'll know what a bridge jump is. :D Should be interesting.

Just spent the last three hours putting down the pipe layout for the new track design. Don't know if we'll get the jumps in today however. As soon as my Bro' gets home we'll see if we can get some of it in since he's the loader operater. :) Lookin' good so far though.

Haha, sorry, I'm afraid it's as close to Warren as it's gonna get. :) Sounds like another nice day tomorrow so hopefully we can get things about done. Have to pick up some more cement blocks and materials for the bridge now.

It's werid isn'it. From Carpet to off-road is about 3 months but from off-road to Carpet is 2-4 weeks. I'm not complaining but we should have carpet from November-May and off-road June-September. Cause I'm bored over here or do what we did the Sunday before Easter like every other weekend?

OvalmanPA
04-20-2003, 01:08 PM
Trust me Andy, if you were the owner, after a few years you probably wouldn't be thinking that way. It might actually be different also if we had a permanent building to house our carpet track and place for the off road at the same location. Last winter was the best turnout we've ever had but we've tried running carpet into even April before and interest starts to drop as the weather gets better making it not worth running anymore.

Worked on jump building this morning. Coming along nicely and if it's not to bad tomorrow we should be able to get the rest of the building materials. Hope the jumps are big enough for you this year guys! :D

i can understand where rick is coming from guys.. but i can also understand where "WE" are coming from lol I haven't raced in about 3 months lol.. What we should do though, is just had a day on some weekend, where we can all go down and race, talk and meet the new faces that will be racing this year. Kind of like a "get togeather" day. Nothing serious, just a day for us "R/C Geeks" to get togeather and do what we do lol Even if we just get to drive around in the yard and eat them grrrrrreat hot dogs lol

Trust me guys I really don't mean to sound negative here or anything and you may not believe me but if we raced every weekend all year long, within a couple years you WOULD get burnt out and not really want to keep doing it. A little break in between racing seasons keeps everybodies interest and anticipation up. ;)

it sounds good, but if I were you, I would get pic's and look at them really good!!! Anytime you buy like that, your GOING TO have parts that need replaced, so look into the cost of the parts, add those to the price of the truck and if it still sounds good get it!! I don't know who will be paying for shipping, but your looking at about $30 to ship an e-maxx.

Andy: Specifically ask him if there are any broken or missing parts. $250 is not a bad price, but like Chris said if it needs $50 worth of replacement parts, then it's not such a good deal.

Do you know if anyone will be running T-Maxxes or Savages? I was wondering because I own a Savage and there is nowhere to race them. I also own a RC10GT so I can run the 1/10th nitro class. I stopped over last friday to check out the track and it looks like it will be a lot of fun! Let me know when you are running practice days. I would love to come over and see how bad I am at jumping real jumps!

Hi Savage21. Sorry I wasn't able to talk a lot last week, was kind of in the middle of raking dirt out before my brother barried us all! :) As for anyone running Nitro Maxx (the class you'd run with a Savage), I'm not sure. I had a guy stop in yesterday and said he had a new SportMaxx as well as his friend did. Whether or not they will be racing, I don't know. I don't really know how many Maxxes/Savages we have in the area that might want to race? Your GT on the other hand might have someone to race against as I believe we do have a couple guys that might run 1/10 nitro truck.

As for practice, after this weekend the track should be ready for running. We'd like to get a little rain on it to help pack it in and have to place a few pipes but it's almost ready. I'll post here when it is ready for sure but it will be available whenever someone is at the shop.

Ok guys, here's the skinny. Check the website for full schedule and pics of the new layout. I'm going to be getting the track newsletter worked up tomorrow morning so look for it in an e-mail sometime next evening I hope. :( Hoping for a "little" rain the next couple days to help pack in the track and then it will be open for practice starting this weekend. As always, please make sure someone is around if you want to come practice, we'd appreciate it.

Whadda you guys complainin' 'bout? Sit in a chair and try drivin' it! :jest: I'm STILL lookin' for my "spot". :) I think we're gonna pop up the lower drivers stand by another block. It seems the upper stand you'll be able to see from most spots. The way I see it is if you can see the end of the pipe on the other side of the bridge you should be good to go.

EvaderAndy
05-01-2003, 03:42 PM
I got a question do you go under the bridge jump it looks like you do the way it looks on Rick's site  Anyway how high is the underside of the bridge cause my off-road tires are bold I can't even get traction off-road so might be runing the Monster Evader should prove interesting.

I just hope it's got enough height so my savage can go under! Not cool to go full open and then go THUD!

OvalmanPA
05-01-2003, 11:18 PM
Right now it is about 15 1/2" guys so if you are under that you're fine. We might be able to get a little more height out of it if necassary.

Yes Andy, you go under and then over the bridge. :)

Hello Racers!

First of all I'd like to thank everyone that raced with us last winter for making it our best year ever. If the Production class was any indication, we should have some real good up and coming racers in the years to come. Ok, now on to the news.

It's time for some dirt slinging action in the off road season! We have completely redesigned the off road track to allow a little bigger airtime and a little higher speeds. I hope everyone enjoys the new layout. The track should be ready by this weekend so stop by for a bit of practice. We ask that you please make sure someone is around before practicing. Practice is free of charge as always but donations for electric usage are always welcomed. We will begin the off road season on Sunday, May 18th. Yes we are going to try Sunday racing this year. We ask everyone to be signed up by 12:15 and heats will begin at 12:30. We will be running a seventeen week points series this summer with the first points race on June 1st. The double point, double racer buck week seemed to mix things up pretty well indoors so we'll be having one of those mid season also (July 27th). As always, we will be making our trip to the McKean County Fair to run the yearly race there on August 16th so there will be no race at our off road track on August 17th. We will close out the season on September 28th with our customary trophy race and points trophy presentation.

Food will be available again this year EXCEPT possibly the first two races of the season. The cook may be unavailable for these two races as she had some plans to do some other things so bring along your picnic basket the first two weeks just in case. For those of you that have never been to our track, it is located six miles outside Smethport, Pa. and one mile up Bloomster Hollow Road. We have power available in our barn but you will need to bring along your pit table and a chair to sit. The shop is right here if you happen to break any parts and if it's a bathroom you need, well we have one of those also. If you have any questions or need more information on where we are located just give us a ring or stop by our website. Just a reminder, if the weather looks questionable please give us a call at 814-887-9256 to make sure we will be running on raceday.

We look forward to seeing everyone again for some fun in the summer sun!!

First race: May 18th
Points begin: June 1st
Mid season double points/double racer bucks race: July 27th
McKean County Fair race: August 16th - Non points race - 1:00
August 17th: No off road racing
Final race/trophy day: September 28th

I just measured my savage and it's 16 to the top of the antenna. I think my truck sits just i little higher than T&E Maxxes so everone should be good. I was wondering, I will be stopping by tomorrow for a couple things and I might bring my trucks. Would it be ok if I could run for a little bit? Weather permitting. See ya then.

I think that's a 1/2 mile track, Andy.

;) Yeah, we have to stand on the roof of the center stage and hook our radios to 12v car batterys so they'll transmitt that far! ;)
