Canbquick: what happened to Team old Lo' ?

Please tell me Mr. 35t is 64p!!!
Team old Lo' was experiencing technical difficulties... I rebuilt the beast last week and didn't get a chance to test on tuesday night, so we where kind of flying blind( really no different than anyother week  ). I reversed the tranny and removed most of the dead weight (except for the driver) and got it down to 51.6 from 54.9! Made a HUGE difference in the handling, goes through the corners smoother and accellerates better, was cutting 3.7 -3.8's consistantly!
Yes, the 35 is 64 , just an experiment that went bad!
When I rebuilt the tranny, I didn't realize that I had grabbed the diff gear with the larger opening for a bearing, and I only installed one instead of the required TWO!!!!! this lead to the poor finish in the main.

Scooby............good to see you are still around. If you'd sell those Dodges and get a Chevy you'd be able to make it over to race with us. :p

K1M.....seems canbquiks mechanic failed him again. LOL

Took the day yesterday and put LTO buggy together. The thing is still a PIG but dropped .6 oz. I put it together, adjusted camber and toe as best I could, and the thing seems to work pretty well right out of the box so to speak. As I told canbquik, I hope it works because I AINT switchin it back to buggy chassis for the remaining races. Only problem seemed to be steering lock up like it did with buggy chassis but TREMENDOUSLY worse. Canbquik suggested a cheap fix with zippy ties so we'll see what happens Sunday. Doesn't seem to be any faster but doesn't seem to be any slower so it all comes out in the wash. LOL

Donalbain --- they race on wednesday nights, doors open at 5 and racing starts at 6.. They either have novice or spec, which sucks.. novice is more less stock.. and they do have a few good people who race in novice (including me lol) but you never know who will show up. They also race the first saturday of every month, they didn't race last saturday, but they will race this saturday...

Rick.. i did dump one of my dodges.. I got a KIA now lol but i work now on sundays during the winter months from 11- 6, so it kind of kills me for racing down there  I'll be ready by June though hehe

It's another race Andy but instead of giving away the normal racerbucks like every other week we give away trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each main. We also hand out points trophies and the driver of the year award which all you drivers will be voting on in the next couple weeks. Hope that answers your question. :)

Hey, Ovalman.. i got a few quick questions.. 1) I know it's still early, but when do you think the offroad is going to start up again? hehe is it gonna be the same time as last year? 2) Are we gonna have a points system this year ? 3) Since i see that production is a huge class this year, is any of them going to make the move to offroad as well, that you know of? And last but not least, are you still moving it to sunday instead of saturday and will it be the same time frame as it was last year? thanks

1. We are figuring on June but a lot is going to depend on when we can actually get ON the track to work with it. Right now there is probably still a foot or more of snow on it.

2. Yes we are going to run a points season this year. It will be just like our indoor system with 50% of the races needing to be run by a person and the class. Of course number of races run due to rain and such will dictate the 50% needed to run.

3. It sounds like we are probably going to have a few from our indoor season join us for the outdoor season, how many I don't know yet.

4. Yes we are going to be moving to Sunday racing this year to try and get more support. As far as time goes, we are looking at either 12 or 12:30 as a start time.

Andy, I don't really know much about the Wild Dagger but think about this for a minute. Michael knows first hand what things are like when noone else has a vehicle like yours. I'm not trying to sell you parts or anything but you might be better off using your Evader or finding a good deal on a T3/XXXT for the off road racing. Any vehicle isn't worth having if you can't get parts for it and besides, it just doesn't seem like the Wild Dagger would be very "raceworthy".

hey, EvaderAndy.. Just to add my .02

I started out with a traxxas rustler, which in my mind was a great truck, but once i got my T3, i found what i was missing out on. I'm not sure how the evader handles, since i have never drove one, But i think it is along the lines of a rustler. So i would have to agree with Rick, that your best bet would be to find a T3 or xxxt on ebay. Cause after i got done with my rustler, i let my younger sister use it, though she did ok, when i got my xxxt, i gave her my T3 and i can see a huge difference in her driving skills and her racing. And she would be someone to go by, cause she isnt old enough yet to know the difference as to "good" or "top of the line", to her a truck is a truck, but she to could also tell the difference even the first time she drove it.. I think it would also be cheaper for you to buy a used t3 or xxxt then it would be to buy a new evader, plus, it is a ton easier to find associated or losi parts then it would be to find duratrax parts.. But and there is always a BUT, if you like your evader and it works for you go with..

Okay Sounds good but if I got a xxxt or T3 I wouldn't use it off road. that's why I was thinking of get another Evader because I know what they can do and can't on on road Off roads gong to be something new to me

Not for nothin', but the intended purpose of XXX-Ts and T3s is off-road racing. Why would you buy one and then not use it???

OvalmanPA
03-11-2003, 02:43 PM
Andy.........it's entirely up to you and since you already have one Evader you could always use the other for parts if worst came to worst. In my opinion over time however you'll probably want to upgrade to either a T3 or XXXT even though you are happy with your Evader. They are a little more durable if you ask me and parts are easier to get which is always one of the main concerns when looking at a R/C car if you ask me.

I would use it just not off road because off road Isn't as important to me as carpet is so I would use a T3 or XXXT for carpet. Off road for me right now Is just like BuRP's Just do it for fun right now. I ownlly started racing Jan 12th 2003

That's one of my concerns too Rick But I find part's just like you could with a T3 or XXXT. Just last night I found every single part for an Evader that's not the Chasse in both plastic or Aluminum or Titanum

I think what rick was meant by being able to find parts easier, is like if you were to break something, you could just get it through him, at a near by HS or even from another racer, if he has an extra. Not having to wait till it comes in the mail or whatever.. have you raced offroad yet? this is my opinion, but i think you will like it A TON MORE, like me lol hehe

I think you like your Evader, so I say go ahead and run it offroad this summer. I'm sure you'll do very well in the production class. If you planned to try the stock class, I think you'd have a tough time with your Evader even though there are several around now to get parts. For backyard bashing or entry level racing, the Evader rules.....but I don't think you would be dissapointed if you decide to move up to a XXXT or T3 when you're ready.

I understand what you guy's mean about there good qualities but with a T3/XXXT you pay $200 for the car and do upgrades but the upgrades are all ready done on the Evaderst and no Scooby_cakes haven't even tried my car on nothing but the carpet track so far

OvalmanPA
03-12-2003, 02:35 PM
No offense Andy but you won't really need to upgrade anything that comes out of the box on a T3 or XXXT and they have higher quality parts than the Evader in my opinion. About the only thing you "might" want to upgrade on a T3 or XXXT out of the box is the tie rods to titaniums and I'm sure those didn't come on your Evader now did they? :p

That's one of my concerns too Rick But I find part's just like you could with a T3 or XXXT. Just last night I found every single part for an Evader that's not the Chasse in both plastic or Aluminum or Titanum

But these were found on-line were they not? What we are getting at is, what if you break one of your front arms on the Evader and no one has one? This is where we are coming from, most everyone here has a front arm for the T3 or XXXT they could lend you and then you could get a replacement for them. Otherwise you are done for the day while you wait for the part to arrive from the place on-line. Again, not trying to discourage you and the Evader, just pointing this out to you.

Master Yoda : it's hard to decide from using a slow car that cost $30's to run it but it's Slow. Or use my Evader which if broke like you said I was out. But A T3's/XXXT's groud cleance I think is lower...Maybe

Never worked on the T3, but the XXXT as compared to XXT the parts are definitly tighter tolerances. Less slop and ect.

Tighter tolerances is putting it mildly. I even needed to "trim" a couple different parts of my Francis truck to get them to fit right.
