Hi all, first post here. I just bought an old Sears Companion gas edger from a yard sale. It's in nice shape; the paint looks good, and after unsticking the butterfly in the carb, it runs great. Now I just need an air filter. How can you tell how old a machine like this is? If I had to guess, I'd say 1970's, but I'd like to know for sure. Were the old Sears engines made by Tecumseh? The engine is all white, has a black plastic gas tank, and an oval shaped tin air filter housing. Here are the numbers off the engine:

2 Hp
7.25 Cubic inch
Model No. 143 191032
Serial No. 8324 10565

Thanks, I figured that out actually. But is there any resource that gives manufacturing dates based on any of the casting numbers?
