Most of you are aware of the new "Fresh Cherries" series released by Motor Max, supposedly as a Wal Mart exclusive for $1.97

These cars have had very limited distribution and are the subject of much attention, so they have been flying off the pegs almost everywhere they show up, and I've seen them as high as $20 each on E Bay.

I myself saw a few in a Mass. store (just once) and bought a couple, which I wound up sending to HT members, figuring that I'd see them here in The Ocean State soon enough. Dead wrong. I was very lucky to receive 5 of these the other day as a RAOK (Random Act Of Kindness) from Dad's Coronet, a fellow Hobby Talk member (Thanks a bunch Mark, that mere act itself brightened up my day!).

And just yesterday, I was looking for new diecast in an area Wal Mart and saw a brand new box of twelve sitting there opened, waiting to go on the pegs. The very FIRST 1/64 Fresh Cherries to hit any of the Wal Marts in Little Rhody! With no clerk nearby to ask, I took the twelve cars to a register, and bought them all, and even took the box they came in (in case anyone needs any markings info, etc.). Figured I may never see anymore, and I could always send the extras to other members who may need them.

So far, there have been three Fords released (Maverick, Pinto, Mustang II), and I am now seeing two AMC's on E Bay (Gremlin, Pinto); and the colors have been the subject of much debate. From everything I've been able to read, it looks like they are offered in these colors:

Maverick: Red, Yellow, White
Pinto: Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange
Mustang II: Green, Black, Brown

Gremlin: Red, Blue, Green
Pacer: Red

I myself am looking for the colors highlighted in red, and would be willing to trade with anyone who has any to offer. Dadvball, and Dad's Coronet have first dibs on any extra's I have, though.

I also have a yellowish-orange Pinto about the same color as the JL. Is that the color you need?

To me, the Red or Orange Pinto are one in the same. I had one I thought was Red until I got the Red Maverick. And now the Pinto looks more Orange to me.

Have to admit myself, that I'm a little confused by this red-orange thing. The Pinto's I have are definitely more orange-y than red, especially when compared to the red Maverick. Does anyone have both a red and an orange Pinto, or are we all just getting the shade confused?

I would have to say the Pinto I thought looked kind of red looks more orange. The yellow Pinto looks kind of close to the color of the yellow around my name.
I have both different color Pintos Rich and think my WM still has a brown Mustang if you want it.

When compared to the red Maverick, the Pinto is more orange. It seems, at least in central CT, that the first wave of cherries did not include the yellow Pinto and brown mustang and none of the Gremlins or Pacers. They might be on the way - who knows. Guess they have shown up in the mid-west. Definitely true - they do not last long on the pegs! (Especially when someone - Rich - buys 'em by the case! :tongue: :tongue: ) Anyway, they're cool little cheap cars and I'll take all colors! :thumbsup:

Got a call from dadvball today, that Fresh Cherries had shown up in another local WM. I checked it out and picked up the brown Mustang II! Thanks, Bill!

...the first wave of cherries did not include the yellow Pinto and brown mustang ...

These 2 version have landed in CT! Picked 'em up last night. (took a detour before picking up some groceries) Just have to keep checking for the Pacers and Gremlins now.

So if the Pinto is either red or orange, but not both (due to confusion about the actual color), then I now have all the regular Ford Fresh Cherries and lack just the AMCs. At two bucks a pop, and limited releases to date, this is an easy series to keep up with!

Ditto for me today. Was on my way to meet a colleague for lunch but had a couple minutes to duck into WM and there they were. :thumbsup:
