Well its been about 1yrs since I took apart my mower and now its time to start putting it back together. My memories are vague as how it looked like before..... Dumbass me for not taking more pics.

But anyways what is this thing here in the pic, the long metal thing. I am guessing it has to do with the governor?

Another question I have is, when I put my engine back together should I have the piston on TDC and have both the valves closed?

I just got done looking at the assembly part manual and it shows a washer and a locking ring (don't know whats it called exactly) that goes with the governer shaft Does the washer belong inside the shaft or outside the shaft fallow by the lock ring?

Also I lost the dowels guides that goes in the oil pan is this a very important thing that I must have? I couldn't find the part in the part manual.

The lock ring should be on the inside, along with the washer I can't remember. You should have those "dowels" though...

I can't seem to find the part number for the dowels, Do you have any idea where it could be listed? I checked the parts manual.

Have no idea, other then asking a shop nearby.
