Correct me if I'm wrong, fellas, but is that a Cox .024 motor in the back of this thing?

That Cox Corvette Stingray looks to be possibly 1/20th scale? I remember reading in an old magazine from the 1960s or a newer magazine possibly about Cox having an outdoor "slot car track" that ran these big 1/20th gas powered slots. They would hook onto the track or into the track somehow, it was outdoor use only and they ran on gas engines - you just started them up and let 'em go on a huge banked oval...

As a kid (11 yrs old)I had a cox .409 powered dune buggy. The motor was started by spinning one of the rear wheels that was attached to a gear drive. (looked just like the vette in the auction) The car ran on a line, either staked at one end into the ground (or held in hand) to run in circles or down a line for a drag race. The buggy was just big enough to hold my "Big Jeff" (Big Jims buddy) action figure. I played with it alot until it was run over by a neighbor backing out of the drive. Big Jeff didn't survive that accident either. He looked like this---> :drunk:
