I was lucky enough to get a signed copy. Haven't had time to read it yet, but flipping through it is amazing. All that great art in large format, high quality color printing... glad I'm almost done with the book I'm currently reading, can't wait to dig into this monster!

I saw this post a while ago, but only just found the book by chance in a library this week, and had a good look through it. I don't think I'll buy this one but am planning to buy the other large hardback book about his films. It's a shame that the film Mysterious Island didn't have the range of prehistoric animals which Harryhausen originally envisaged, for example, and most of the films seem to have comprised less animated monsters eventually than he first planned.
I've also been collecting the DVD's of Ray Harryhausen's films recently, and they usually have an interview with him after the film, among the special features. The interviews tell you a lot as well, such as that the same beach in Spain was used over and over again in several of the films.

I'm curious - how does it compare to "Ray Harryhausen - An Animated Life"?

CDub,
Very closely as far as format goes, but it has many more photos and illustrations of behind the scenes material and art. It's supposed to be a companion piece to "An Animated Life" and it works pretty well in that capacity.
